Chapter 541 The Fake Zhang Haike
Zhang Haike appeared out of nowhere and said this as if he wanted to scare people.

The fat man wasn't intimidated. He turned around and leaned in for a close-up, rolling his eyes menacingly. "I'm talking about you. Does that make you happy?"

Zhang Haike looked at the large face that suddenly approached and the fat man's trembling eyelids. His lips twitched, and he immediately lost the desire to amuse him, deciding to ignore him.

He turned to Zhang Wuxun and said, "I think I know who owns these wooden pagodas."

Wu Xie asked in surprise, "Who is it? You found something that can prove their identities."

"Come with me." Zhang Haike smiled mysteriously, beckoned, and turned to disappear back into the group of wooden pagodas.

Seeing that he was being mysterious, Wu Xie figured that he must have discovered something extraordinary, so he decided it would be best to go and see for himself.

Just as he was about to step onto the stairs, an arm came across and blocked his way. "Wait."

Wu Xie was taken aback and looked at Zhang Wuxun questioningly, "Wooden fish?"

But Zhang Wuxun just stared at Zhang Haike's back, his expression a little strange.

Alarm bells rang in Wu Xie's mind, and he immediately began to suspect that something was wrong. From the moment they entered this place and opened two stone doors, apart from encountering a not-too-troublesome centipede, there were no other unexpected events. Looking back now, the journey was indeed unbelievably smooth.

Wu Xie's expression gradually changed, so, at what point did the problem begin?

He racked his brains to recall, but out of the corner of his eye he saw Zhang Wuxun suddenly raise his hand, the muzzle of his gun pointed at Zhang Haike's back, and fire a shot with a "bang," without any hesitation.

Wu Xie's mind went blank for a moment. Damn it, could this Zhang Haike also be a member of the Wang family in disguise? Is the Zhang family's team overseas a sieve?
With his mind a jumble of thoughts, Wu Xie looked up and saw that Zhang Haike, after being shot, hadn't fallen immediately. Instead, he slowly turned around, his face, identical to Wu Xie's, first showing disbelief at being betrayed, then staring intently at him, filled with resentment, curses, and regret...

Zhang Haike's expression kept changing. As Wu Xie watched, his confused thoughts gradually shifted from initial disbelief and doubt to understanding—this person was indeed not Zhang Haike.

Even if he were shot for no reason, Zhang Haike would not show such a furious and resentful expression. Instead, he would immediately use everything around him to save his life or to fight back.

Even if it were him, even if one day Muyu pointed a gun at him, he would still feel that there was danger behind him.

Even if a bullet actually hit him, his first reaction would probably be that he's out of practice, missed, and needs more practice.

A flurry of thoughts rushed through my mind, and then another gunshot rang in my ears.

After being shot again, Zhang Haike's face, which had been flashing and changing like a fan, finally froze, turning into a blank, pale face like a paper effigy, staring straight at him like a mannequin.

“Go back to your original form.” Zhang Wuxun spoke calmly in Tibetan. “If you dare to flaunt your identity again, I’ll burn down your hideout.”

"Zhang Haike" struggled a few times, and seeing Zhang Wuxun blow on the tinderbox and make a move to light it, it reluctantly took a few steps back and retreated to a wooden tower.

Immediately afterwards, its upper body suddenly drooped down as if broken in half, as if it had turned into a lump of soft mud, floating lightly, and instantly melted into the wooden tower behind it.

Wu Xie stared in astonishment at the spot; it was completely empty. It had truly vanished in the blink of an eye.

If the wooden fish hadn't been right beside him, he would have almost doubted whether he was hallucinating again.

"What's going on?" Wu Xie asked. "What... what is it? How did it disappear all of a sudden? Was it just another hallucination?"

"Right, Fatty!" He remembered that Fatty was also nearby and should have seen it earlier, so he turned his head to confirm. Wu Xie turned his head and realized that Fatty had disappeared without a trace. He immediately realized what had happened, pulled out the big white dog leg, and cursed, "Damn it, it kidnapped Fatty!"

No wonder that thing retreated so easily.

Zhang Wuxun pressed him down, shook his head, and handed him the tinderbox in his hand, "Burn this place down, and you'll see the two of them."

Although Wu Xie didn't understand why, seeing his calm demeanor, his anxious emotions also calmed down.

The fact that Muyu was so calm and composed meant that the situation wasn't bad. At least he knew that Fatty and the others were definitely safe right now, just hidden by that thing.

When he took the tinder, he saw bloodstains on the wooden fish's hands, and knew that he had just used blood to scare away the "ghost" who understood Tibetan.

He rummaged through his backpack for alcohol, poured it all over the remains of the wooden tower that had first collapsed, and then lit some paper with a tinderbox and threw it on top.

The fire gradually spread, and strangely, the flames were initially yellow, but gradually turned into a ghostly blue, turning the wooden tower into a will-o'-the-wisp.

The two retreated to the doorway, and Zhang Wuxun explained casually, "What we're burning now is phosphorus formed from decaying bones."

"So these are the skeletons inside these wooden towers," Wu Xie asked again. "What about Fatty and Zhang Haike? This place is probably only this big. Where could they have gone? Should we burn all these corpse towers one by one?"

"No need." Zhang Wuxun tilted his head slightly to listen, and said, "They're here."

No sooner had the words been spoken than a commotion suddenly arose from the group of wooden towers burning with phosphorescent light. A gust of air blew out, causing the eerie blue flames to float up.

Zhang Haike emerged from the fire, dragging a large lump behind him, and sneered, "It's impressive that you still remember me."

Zhang Wuxun raised an eyebrow and gestured for Wu Xie to go over and splash some water to put out the fire. "You wanted to find out for yourself, so you insisted on going into their encirclement. How can you blame me?"

Zhang Haike chuckled and dragged the things he was carrying behind him to the front. "Hey, your little friend, I was a few seconds late. He's already eaten several pieces. Let's figure out a way to get him out, otherwise it'll be troublesome if he stays trapped in the demon."

"What exactly happened?" Wu Xie was completely confused. "What did Fatty eat?"

"I ate some good stuff." Zhang Haike smiled maliciously, picked up two bronze helmets, pulled out the skulls inside, and then gave one to Wu Xie.

The two used their helmets as containers to scoop water from outside the stone gate and pour it onto the will-o'-the-wisps.

Zhang Wuxun dragged the fat man aside and pressed several acupoints on his neck, such as Lianquan and Tiantu, to induce vomiting.

Wu Xie was anxious. After pouring a few scoops of water on the fat man, he threw down his helmet and peeked over to Zhang Wuxun, wanting to see what the fat man had vomited up.

Upon seeing this, his scalp tingled.

The partially digested cookie paste that the fat man vomited contained a dozen or so teeth that had been ground down to the size of beads and strung together with a rope.

Wu Xie was almost trembling, his stomach churning, and he nearly vomited as well. He forced back his nausea and asked, "Where did he find this thing? Why did he eat it? Was he bewitched by that shadowy thing from earlier?"

Although the fat man was a little greedy, he would never put every bead he saw into his mouth, especially since these beads were made by grinding human teeth together.
