Chapter 866 Tiredness
Madam Feng understood Tang Wan's unspoken words, and with a sigh, she could only accept them helplessly.

We can only look on the bright side. Perhaps the second daughter-in-law can relax and take a good rest. As for the second branch of the family, the granddaughter can temporarily take care of it. It's a good time for her to learn some household management skills.

Thinking of this, Madam Feng's expression softened. Seeing that Tang Wan's face was a little pale, she knew it was from the exhaustion of breaking the curse. So she said kindly, "I'm sorry you had to go through all this trouble today. I should have kept you here to rest, but it's late, and your mother must be worried. I've prepared some small gifts to express my gratitude, so please don't refuse."

As she spoke, she called out to the door.

The trusted nanny entered in response, carrying a small, exquisitely carved, and antique-looking sandalwood box.

"This is a small token of my appreciation. It's not worldly gold or silver, but some ancient medical books that might come in handy." Madam Feng gestured for the nanny to hand the box to Tang Wan. "There's also a warm jade pendant that I used when I was young. Wearing it regularly can soothe the mind and spirit. You've suffered quite a bit today, so wearing it might be beneficial."

This gift was clearly carefully chosen; it was both valuable and thoughtful, demonstrating meticulous consideration.

Tang Wan did not refuse, but generously accepted it, curtsied and said, "Thank you for your generous gift, Madam. I am unworthy of it."

Madam Feng smiled and nodded, then continued, "I have already given orders for my personal maid to personally escort you back to the manor. The carriage and guards are all ready, and I will ensure your safe arrival home."

"Thank you for your trouble, Madam," Tang Wan said again.

Madam Feng personally escorted Tang Wan to the courtyard gate, watched her and her maid board the carriage, her personal nanny followed, and four servants guarded the carriage as they drove away, before turning back.

As she walked, Madam Feng thought about Tang Wan. No wonder she was chosen by the royal family; she was indeed very capable and had a very good character.

When the carriage stopped at the side gate of the Tang residence, the stern-faced nanny from the Duke of Anguo's mansion got out of the carriage first, whispered a few words to the Tang family steward who had rushed over upon hearing the news, and then personally helped the slightly tired Tang Wan out of the carriage.

As expected, Madam Wang had not yet rested and was waiting anxiously in the flower hall inside the second gate. Upon hearing footsteps, she immediately got up to greet her. Seeing that her daughter looked tired but calm, her heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down, but then she felt a surge of heartache.

"Wan'er!" Madam Wang stepped forward and took her daughter's hand, looking her up and down. "You're finally back! How did it take you so long? Are you tired?"

The old nanny from the Duke of Anguo's mansion stepped forward, bowed respectfully to Madam Wang, and explained, "Madam Tang, it is our fault that the Second Miss has been troubled. The Old Madam specifically instructed this old servant to personally escort the Second Miss back safely and apologize to Madam, for it has truly delayed the Second Miss's rest."

Seeing that it was delivered personally by Madam Feng's personal nanny, and that her attitude was so respectful and attentive, Madam Wang didn't know what to say: "Nanny, you flatter me."

Ms. Wang politely said that she did not intend to interfere too much, after all, her daughter was going to save a life, but her daughter had really gone through a lot, and she did not want to say anything about what she should or should not do. In fact, there was no such thing as what should or should not do.

But doing all that for a day is really tiring.

Tang Wan noticed Wang's worry and reassured her in a slightly hoarse voice, "I'm sorry to have worried Mother."

Seeing that she looked tired but her eyes were clear, Wang said, "It's good that you're back. Go back to your room and rest. I'll have the kitchen prepare some light food for you. Eat and then rest."

Tang Wan obediently agreed and then said goodbye to the old woman.

Having completed her task, the nanny did not linger. After bowing to Madam Wang once more, she boarded her carriage and departed.

After taking Zhuxi back to her familiar courtyard, Er Ya had already prepared hot water and clean clothes.

Tang Wan took a bath and changed her clothes, washing away her fatigue.

Zhu Xi quickly and efficiently wrung out her long hair and simply tied it up.

"Miss, you don't look well. Eat something and lie down to rest for a while," Zhu Xi said with concern.

Tang Wan nodded slightly. Just as Zhu Xi was about to go out to serve the meal, she saw Er Ya bring in congee and side dishes.

The two of them didn't say much, quickly set out the food, and then went to invite Tang Wan over to dine.

Tang Wan was sitting in front of the dressing table, opening the sandalwood box to examine its contents. On top was a piece of smooth, flawless mutton-fat jade pendant, carved with simple auspicious cloud patterns. Holding it in her hand, it indeed exuded a gentle aura.

Below is a medical book, which looks like an ancient text. Although I have some knowledge of medicine, I would certainly not consider myself an expert.

Tang Wan was about to open a medical book when Zhu Xi came over and quietly told her that it was time to eat.

Tang Wan then closed the sandalwood box and got up to have some food.

I was quite tired after a night's sleep, and my stomach was empty.

After drinking half a bowl of congee and eating some snacks, Tang Wan got up and planned to rest on the couch.

Suddenly, the bell belonging to the War King in the space rang without warning.

Tang Wan paused for a moment, then told Zhu Xi to go back and rest, and told Er Ya to keep watch at night.

After Zhu Xi left and locked the door, Tang Wan took Er Ya into the space.

Upon entering the space, Tang Wan picked up the bell and said with a smile, "Your Highness?"

The bell carried the War King's deep voice, asking directly, "Are you alright?"

There were no pleasantries, no inquiries about the process; the first thing they said was concern.

Tang Wan felt a slight warmth in her heart, let out a soft breath, and said in a low voice, "I'm fine, just a little tired. The Second Madam of the Duke's Mansion was cursed, but the curse has now been lifted, and Madam Chen is temporarily out of danger, but she needs long-term care."

"Hmm," the War King responded, feeling a sense of relief.

In truth, he wasn't that concerned about Madam Chen's condition.

He was more concerned about whether Tang Wan was alright; as long as she was okay, that was all that mattered.

Actually, I already knew she was alright, and that she was there to help people solve their problems, but I was still a little worried that something might happen to her.

The War King paused, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Inside the Duke of Anguo's mansion..."

Before the War King could finish asking, Tang Wan understood her concerns and replied succinctly, "Old Madam Feng has already handled it personally, and I will not interfere in the follow-up matters."

Although she is knowledgeable, she also knows that she must protect herself first.

There's no need to get involved in other people's affairs.

The War King pondered for a moment on the other end and said, "Now that you are safe, you should rest well. There is no need to worry about anything else."

His voice softened, and he changed the subject, saying, "I have ordered someone to retrieve the bells from the northern desert as soon as possible. They should be back soon on horseback. Once they are exchanged, I will trouble you to take care of them again."

"Your Highness can make the arrangements," Tang Wan replied with a smile.

As she spoke, Tang Wan felt waves of weariness wash over her.

Before Tang Wan could say anything, the War King instructed, "Go and rest, we'll talk again tomorrow."

"Okay," Tang Wan replied softly, ending the connection.
