Chapter 888 Disappearance
Not long after Tang Wan and Zhan Wang hung up the bells, Er Ya returned to the villa.

Seeing Tang Wan sitting on the living room sofa, lost in thought, Er Ya didn't interrupt her, but stood quietly to the side waiting.

Tang Wan noticed Er Ya out of the corner of her eye and asked with some surprise, "What are you doing standing there? Come and sit down."

Although Er Ya always adhered to the duties of a maid outside, she had been thoroughly trained by Tang Wan before entering the space, so she was able to sit and talk to her naturally.

Er Ya obediently sat down and reported, "Miss, I found out all of Liu the constable's whereabouts yesterday."

Tang Wan had always disliked Er Ya referring to herself as a servant, but Er Ya simply refused to change. Now, she referred to herself as a servant every day outside, so Tang Wan stopped saying anything, since it was safer to do so outside.

Tang Wan nodded slightly at Er Ya, signaling her to continue.

Er Ya said, "He leaves home at dawn every day to go on duty, and around noon he eats at a tavern in an alley in the south of the city. The tavern is not big, and it is frequented by local constables and common people. Every time he goes there, he sits by the window, orders a pot of wine and two dishes, and eats for half an hour before leaving."

Tang Wan nodded: "Do you know if he's on duty today?"

“He’s on duty,” Er Ya said. “Yesterday, I followed him from afar for half a day and saw him enter the Shuntian Prefecture government office. Later, I asked the waiter at that tavern, and he said that this man goes wherever he is on duty, rain or shine.”

"Are there any secluded places on the way from the tavern back to the Shuntian Prefecture government office?" Tang Wan asked.

Er Ya thought for a moment and then replied, "Yes."

Tang Wan nodded slightly and said, "Then let's go and transfer the shop's ownership tomorrow. Once that's done, we'll wait near the tavern."

Er Ya naturally had no objections; she listened to her master.

After saying all this, Tang Wan stopped thinking about the Wu family and instead called Er Ya upstairs to make skincare products.

After working for a while, Tang Wan rested in the space, while Er Ya went to the mountain to cultivate.

……

The next day, after breakfast, Tang Wan and Tang Jing stayed in the Wang family's courtyard to help with household chores.

By mid-morning, the family matters had temporarily come to an end, and the group sat down to rest. Tang Wan picked up her teacup, took a sip, and put it down before saying to Madam Wang, "Mother, I'm going to complete the shop's paperwork today. I've arranged with the broker to transfer the ownership today."

Wang looked at the sky and said, "Why didn't you say so earlier? It's already past midnight."

Tang Wan smiled and said, "This is the perfect time. We can still make it to the yamen now."

Wang thought it made sense, so she said, "We should finalize it as soon as possible. Are you quite satisfied with that shop?"

"Satisfied." A smile appeared on Tang Wan's lips. "The location is good, and the price is reasonable. Although it's a bit old, it will be excellent after some cleaning."

She didn't mention the shop being haunted, nor did she say that although the vengeful spirit of Boss Chen hadn't been sent away yet, she would take care of it after the property was transferred, and he would eventually leave willingly.

Of course, there's no need for my mother to know these things, so as not to worry her.

Hearing that she was satisfied, Madam Wang was relieved. She only instructed, "Take Er Ya and Zhu Xi with you, and have the gatekeeper prepare a sturdy carriage. As for the transfer of ownership, have Steward Li accompany you. He knows these things, so you won't be fooled."

Tang Wan smiled and refused, giving a reasonable explanation: "There's no need to trouble Uncle Li. I can handle these things myself and won't let anyone fool me."

When Wang thought about how Tang Wan had handled all these matters herself when she was in the northern desert, she realized that Tang Wan was indeed experienced and wouldn't be easily deceived. So she nodded and replied, "Mother almost forgot about Wan'er's abilities. In that case, you can do it yourself. Just let us know if you need anything from home."

Tang Wan agreed, and then said, "I was thinking that after I finish the formalities, I'll go and take a look at the shop, measure the dimensions, and figure out how to renovate it. I probably won't be back too early, so you don't need to wait for me for lunch."

Wang naturally agreed, gave her a few more instructions, and then let her leave.

Tang Wan, along with Zhu Xi and Er Ya, went out and boarded the carriage. The group first went to the brokerage firm.

Manager Sun from the brokerage firm was already waiting. When he saw Tang Wan, he greeted her with a big smile and led her to the government office to complete the formalities.

In about an hour, all the formalities were completed, and the shop officially came under Tang Wan's name.

After leaving the government office, Steward Sun was somewhat worried about Tang Wan. He said something, but Tang Wan replied, "Uncle Sun, you should go back first. I'll go check on the shop."

Seeing this, Manager Sun decided not to bother anyone further, exchanged a few more polite words, and then left.

The carriage went to the East Market and stopped in front of the shop it had just bought.

Tang Wan asked Zhu Xi to wait in the carriage, intending to take only Er Ya into the shop.

Zhu Xi was Tang Wan's first head maid. She always thought she had the most face in front of her mistress, but she never expected that her mistress would take Er Ya with her everywhere she went.

This made Zhu Xi a little worried, so she said, "Miss, let me go with you!"

"It's a bit chilly inside, which isn't good for your health," Tang Wan advised.

Zhu Xi insisted, her eyes resolute, "This servant is not afraid, Miss, please take this servant with you!"

Tang Wan thought for a moment, nodded slightly, and did not refuse again.

After all, spending a little less time with those remnant souls won't cause any problems. At worst, we can just let them stay downstairs. We don't need them today. The reason we let Er Ya come along was because these things won't have any impact on Er Ya.

So he took two maids with him and went into the shop.

The shop was still the same, empty and covered in dust.

Tang Wan stood on the first floor for a while, letting her two maids look around downstairs and figure out how to repair the shop, before going upstairs alone.

Upstairs, Mr. Chen's lingering spirit still stood in the corner.

Mr. Chen was somewhat excited to see Tang Wan, since only the person in front of him could see him.

Even knowing that the other party's identity was not simple and that they might be hostile and could easily harm him, he still held onto hope, thinking that what if the other party could keep their promise?
Seeing Mr. Chen's state, Tang Wan softened her tone and said, "Your case can't be solved overnight. I've already bought this shop. I'm here to take you away so you can see the progress of the case and see those who harmed you get the punishment they deserve."

Upon hearing Tang Wan's words, Boss Chen became somewhat agitated and asked urgently, "Can I really see that day?"

Tang Wan nodded slightly and said affirmatively, "Yes."

"Then what do you want me to do?" Boss Chen hurriedly asked.

Tang Wan took out a jade bottle from her spatial storage and said to Boss Chen, "This is a Soul Nourishing Bottle. It's excellent for you. Staying inside will help you repair your soul. Once there's progress in the case, I can let you witness that person's fate firsthand."

As a remnant soul, Boss Chen didn't have much experience.

After all, he was trapped in the shop and didn't have much contact with the outside world, so naturally he didn't know about the Soul Nourishing Bottle.

But he knew that his soul was becoming increasingly thin and he worried that one day he would completely disappear from this world.

Presumably, a master would have no reason to harm him, after all, he was just a remnant soul, and the person in front of him was clearly a master, so there was no need for him to deceive him.

So Mr. Chen nodded and said, "Then I'll have to trouble you, Master!"
