Tang Wan was unaware of Wang's inner thoughts. She was indeed tired and planned to rest for a while before continuing to draw talismans.

Tang Wan didn't stop until lunch was served, and she put away the talisman she had drawn.

I drew more this time than last night, a total of five hundred, I don't know if that's enough.

However, she plans to continue drawing some more amulets after her lunch break; it's always good to have more on hand.

Even if the War King doesn't need it, I can keep it for myself. It will save me from having to rush to draw it when I need it. Also, the caravan will be going to the northern desert soon, so I can take some with me to Boss Wan.

After having lunch, Tang Wan took a short nap.

Tang Wan woke up from her nap and planned to draw some more talismans, but before she could do anything, she heard a soft knock on the door.

"Come in," Tang Wan said.

Unexpectedly, it was Er Ya who came in. Tang Wan was surprised that Er Ya had returned so quickly.

Er Ya came in, her eyes bright, and quickly walked up to Tang Wan, lowering her voice to say, "Miss, we found it."

Tang Wan's heart skipped a beat, and she gestured for her to sit down and speak slowly.

Er Ya didn't even bother to sit down before saying in one breath, "I went to Ma San's house and followed him for a day and a night, but I didn't find anything unusual. Later, I thought that this wouldn't work, so I decided to try walking around his front and back yards twice, and I actually found something different."

Er Ya paused for a moment, then continued, "This servant discovered a faint trace of yin energy in the corner of the wall." After all, ordinary people couldn't detect this; it was only because of her special circumstances that she was able to find it.

Tang Wan raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, understanding what Er Ya meant, but she remained silent and listened quietly.

“Under normal circumstances, that place would be impossible to find. The ground was very flat, and there were no visible traces. But since I discovered it, I had to investigate. So, taking advantage of the night when no one was around, I quietly dug it up.” Er Ya lowered her voice even further. “There was an oilcloth bag buried inside, and inside the bag was a hemp rope, about the thickness of a thumb, and its color was dark, as if it had been soaked in something. Although the rope was a bit worn, it looked like an old thing. I thought, who would bury a hemp rope like that? There must be something wrong.”

Tang Wan nodded. If that rope was indeed the one that had strangled Boss Chen, then it would be irrefutable evidence.

Upon hearing this, Tang Wan pressed on, "Where is that thing?"

When Er Ya heard Tang Wan ask this, she quickly replied, "I thought you asked me to check the clues, so I didn't bring the things back. If you need them, I will go and get them right away."

Tang Wan smiled and shook her head, saying, "No need. You did a great job. Staying at the Ma San family's place is the best option for you."

"Where's the pipe?" she asked.

“It’s still in Zheng Gui’s hands,” Er Ya said. “I followed Zheng Gui incognito for a while and saw him playing with that pipe. There was a ‘horse’ character carved on the pipe, just like what Liu the constable said.”

Tang Wan nodded slightly and said affirmatively, "You've worked hard. Er Ya, go and rest for a while. I'll call you if I need anything later."

Er Ya responded, bowed, and took her leave.

After Er Ya left, Tang Wan sat and thought for a while, then got up and walked to her desk.

He spread out a sheet of paper, but didn't pick up a pen.

A moment later, Tang Wan picked up the pen with her left hand.

Although she is not as adept with her left hand as with her right, she is still more than a hundred times better than the average person.

Tang Wan was writing a letter, in which she detailed Mr. Chen's injustice, how Zhou Fuhai harbored resentment over business and instructed his employee Ma San to commit the crime, how Zheng Gui, a clerk in Shuntian Prefecture, accepted bribes and suppressed the case without investigation, and how he also confiscated evidence such as a tobacco pipe, as well as the fact that the murder weapon, a hemp rope, was buried in the backyard of Ma San's hometown.

At the end of the letter, she wrote: "I hope that Your Honor will investigate this matter impartially and give the deceased justice."

After finishing the letter, Tang Wan read it through again from beginning to end, making sure there were no flaws, before carefully folding it and putting it into the envelope. On the envelope, she still used her left hand to write four words: "To the Prefect."

She did not sign her name.

She had given this letter considerable thought, after all, the current prefect of Shuntian Prefecture had changed, and the current prefect was not the one who handled the case back then. Moreover, the new prefect of Shuntian Prefecture was said to be a stubborn person who couldn't stand the old hands in the government office, especially Zheng Gui.

His letter of denunciation came at just the right time. He figured the new prefect would take the opportunity to eliminate Zheng Gui, who had some influence in Shuntian Prefecture but was outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant.

Tang Wan put the letter into an envelope and called Er Ya over.

As Er Ya entered, Tang Wan handed her the envelope and said, "Send this letter to the Shuntian Prefecture government office. It's best if the prefect sees it directly, and not someone else."

Er Ya nodded, took the letter, and without asking any further questions, turned and left.

Delivering letters was no problem for her at all.

After Er Ya left, Tang Wan went to the desk and prepared to continue drawing talismans.

After drawing for less than half an hour, the bell in the space rang.

Tang Wan put down her pen, tossed a talisman onto the door, and then turned and entered the space.

As soon as she answered the bell, she heard the War King's voice: "Wan'er, are you busy?"

Tang Wan said, "I'm drawing a talisman."

There was a pause on the bell's end, and the War King asked, "How many have been drawn?"

“Five hundred,” Tang Wan said. “Not counting those that have already been sent out, we still have more than five hundred on hand.”

I've already printed 500 sheets this morning, not counting the ones from this past half hour, because I haven't even counted them myself.

The War King seemed somewhat surprised, and after a moment of silence, he said, "So fast?"

Drawing talismans is nothing special for Tang Wan, since her talismans have a 100% success rate. However, they consume spiritual energy, so she can't keep drawing them all the time. She will take a short break in between to recover her spiritual energy.

However, Tang Wan didn't explain further, only asking, "Is it enough?"

The War King said, "The ones you sent have already been distributed to the residences of the important officials. Many of their subordinates do not have any, but these five hundred can help in the short term. However, the royal family and relatives will probably need some as well."

Upon hearing this, Tang Wan asked, "How much more do you need?"

The War King pondered for a moment and said, "There are quite a few members of the royal family, plus the officials under the ministers. Roughly speaking, there are probably three to five hundred more. I will personally deliver them to the relatives and explain the situation to them, so that they won't take it lightly."

Tang Wan nodded, even though she knew he couldn't see: "Then I'll draw some more. If you're in a hurry, just send someone to pick up the finished ones this afternoon. I'll tell you the rest when I'm done."

The War King said gently, "Alright, thank you for your hard work, Wan'er. I'll have someone go and retrieve the finished painting in half an hour, and then we'll wait for your reply."

Tang Wan slowly said, "Okay, let's leave it at that for now. I'll go draw some more and try to give you more when I come to pick them up."

After saying goodbye, the two hung up the bells. Tang Wan drank a cup of spiritual spring water in the space and then came out to continue drawing talismans.

After drawing for another fifteen minutes, Tang Wan counted her work: 120 drawings in the afternoon and 500 in the morning, for a total of 620. (End of Chapter)
