The cave was much larger than I had imagined. The entrance was very narrow, and it only opened up after walking a dozen steps. Then the strong smell of herbs and rust became even stronger.

The cave walls were covered with dark red patterns that glowed faintly and even seemed to flow, which was quite eerie.

The stone platform in the center of the cave should be the altar, with pottery jars and ritual implements on it. Behind the stone platform is a mummified corpse sitting cross-legged, with black iron nails driven into its chest and a dark red bead covered with cracks in its palm.

But what truly caught Tang Wan's attention were the seven or eight gray-robed figures sitting cross-legged around the stone platform.

They lowered their heads, their lips moved slightly, and they made low, guttural sounds.

The sound was repetitive and drawn out, somewhat like a folk song, but not quite.

The cave was somewhat empty, and the sounds echoed repeatedly, making one feel a little oppressed.

Tang Wan examined it closely and found that the dark red patterns flowed slightly as they chanted.

Tang Wan paused for a moment, then lowered her voice and said to the War King beside her, "They are laying the groundwork for the ceremony, not starting it."

The War King nodded slightly; he thought so too, since the key figure they had previously guessed, the thin young man, was not here.

Tang Wan continued, "Let's take down these people first; we can't let the chanting continue."

Although the ceremony had not officially begun, they still had to be stopped from continuing.

After Tang Wan finished speaking, a talisman appeared in her hand; it was a talisman for suppressing evil spirits.

This is one of the new talismans she specially developed for this forbidden area.

Knowing that the situation in this forbidden area was complicated, she tried to make as many preparations as possible.

Tang Wan then said to the King of War, "This kind of talisman can interrupt their incantations and temporarily silence them."

The War King nodded and turned to War Two, making a gesture.

Zhan Er silently divided his men into two groups: one group guarded the cave entrance to prevent anyone from escaping, while the other group followed him and Tang Wan to flank them from both sides.

Tang Wan did not act immediately, but instead gently flicked the talisman in her hand, and the talisman silently stuck to the ground.

Immediately afterwards, a very faint ripple spread out from the talisman, silently engulfing the area where the gray-robed men were sitting.

The first person to notice the anomaly was a gray-robed man who was closest to the stone platform.

His recitation suddenly stopped, as if something was blocking his throat, and he could only let out a hoarse sob.

He suddenly opened his eyes, reached out to touch his throat, and felt a sense of fear.

Then, the other gray-robed men next to them also stopped chanting and looked up blankly.

After looking at each other, they realized that neither of them could make a sound.

Some people tried to stand up, but felt weak all over, as if their strength had been drained away.

Tang Wan emerged from the shadows.

When the gray-robed men saw her, a hint of surprise flashed in their eyes. Some tried to reach for the magical artifacts beside them, but they couldn't even lift their arms.

The War King emerged from the other side, looking down at them, and said, "Take them all down."

The guards and Tiger Leopard Cavalry silently surged forward, binding the limp gray-robed men one by one, gagged them, and dragging them out of the cave.

No one struggled, not because they didn't want to resist, but because the talisman temporarily deprived them of their ability to fight back.

Tang Wan walked to the stone platform and glanced at the dark red runes drawn on the ground.

She didn't rush to start, but first walked around the stone platform, carefully identifying the direction of the patterns.

Then Tang Wan took out several talismans from her sleeve and threw them at several key locations. The talismans seemed to be attracted by something and stuck to the ground.

Tang Wan ignored all of this. She took a few steps back, formed a simple hand seal, and whispered a spell that no one else could understand.

The talismans glowed simultaneously, then turned into wisps of green smoke, seeping into the runes on the ground.

The dark red lines gradually faded.

Then, a few soft cracking sounds came from the pottery jars around the stone platform.

Finally, the dark red light inside the cave completely went out, leaving only the light shining through the cave entrance.

The hand of the mummified corpse in the center of the stone platform dented slightly.

Seeing this, Tang Wan withdrew her hand, checked it again, and then turned to Zhan Wang and said, "Alright. If they want to restore it, it will take them at least a month to rearrange and inscribe it. During this month, they cannot use any evil magic here."

Upon hearing this, the War King felt much more at ease. Even if something unexpected happened in the short term, they wouldn't be able to carry out this evil magic, which was for the best.

Then, Tang Wan stepped forward and stopped by the stone platform. She looked at the mummified corpse sitting cross-legged and the dark red bead, her eyes flashing slightly.

The War King also had some questions about the mummified corpse and the bead, so he walked over to Tang Wan and asked, "Does this need to be dealt with?"

Tang Wan nodded slightly and said, "Yes, we need to deal with the bead itself."

Because the power within the bead is still there, but it has been temporarily suppressed.

Upon hearing Tang Wan's words, the War King asked, "Can I take that bead with me?"

Tang Wan replied "Yes," then took out a talisman and stuck it on the bead.

The talisman ignited with a ghostly blue flame, enveloping the bead for a moment before the flame extinguished and the bead's light dimmed completely.

She carefully removed the beads, wrapped them in a cloth, and put them in her sleeve, saying, "I'll take them back and deal with them later."

The matter of the forbidden area was resolved smoothly, and the War King led his group down the mountain.

Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, a group of people were sent to the village to capture the others.

Just then, the guards who went to rescue the boy returned, one of them carrying a boy on his back.

When the two groups met, Zhan San stepped forward to report: "Reporting to the master, the boy has been rescued, but he looks thin and unconscious. We were afraid something might happen, so we tied him up."

But since he was tied up and couldn't walk, they had to carry him on their backs. Fortunately, they were all experts and took care of the guards who were watching over the boy right away.

Seeing this, the War King nodded slightly and praised, "Well done."

Then, he asked Tang Wan, "Could you take a look?"

It doesn't look good; it looks like it could die at any moment.

Tang Wan stepped forward and observed the boy. He was about fourteen or fifteen years old, with a pale face that was almost transparent, dark purple lips, a thin figure, and eyes that were slightly open but unfocused. He did look unwell.

Tang Wan then placed her hand on the boy's wrist.

Strangely, the boy's pulse did not feel like that of a weak person; instead, it was steady and strong.

To be on the safe side, Tang Wan switched to taking the boy's pulse on his other hand, and saw a dark red mark on the inside of his left wrist, which looked very similar to the mark on the stone cave.

Tang Wan then looked up at the King of War and said, "Come and take a look."

Upon hearing her words, the War King quickly squatted down and looked at the boy's left hand.

The guard had previously reported a strange mark on the inside of my left hand, but today the mark looks exactly like the one in the cave. (End of Chapter)
