The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space

Chapter 217 One Night Without Incident

Chapter 217 Nothing Happened Overnight

Jiang Hui's idea was good, one round for each person, but he overlooked reality.

Highland tents are designed for single-person use. They can barely fit two people, but it's not very presentable. Now, installing another highland tent would be redundant and quite conspicuous.

Zhou Xiuwen and Huan Xian, two grown men, could barely manage, if they could tolerate it.

But Jiang Hui... no matter how reliable or cohesive she appears, she is still a woman.

She hadn't even said anything yet, but the two refused, saying they could make do sleeping downstairs and give the tent to Jiang Hui. After all, she had worked the hardest and made the most contributions along the way, and the two respected her greatly, so they didn't think there was anything wrong with Jiang Hui receiving this special treatment.

But Jiang Hui had a different idea. She didn't need as much sleep as those two; in fact, she could shamelessly say that she had already had enough sleep in her mental space.

Although it wasn't something she could control, that was the reality. Deep down, she felt it bordered on cheating, which made her quite uncomfortable. Especially in a competition with time limits and restrictions, Jiang Hui was actually under considerable pressure.

However, their method was undeniably reckless. With a high-altitude tent, why would they need to sleep outside? The ground below was not only soft and damp, but it also easily exposed them to danger. Keeping watch and keeping watch was one thing, but at least they would be conscious and know where they had gone wrong if something happened.

If, by some chance, a skilled individual were to launch a surprise attack at this moment, there would be no escape. Naturally, this is not as effective as the highly concealed and easily defended high ground tents.

Although Jiang Hui was also a little tired, she had actually already slept in her mental space. The other two hadn't slept for even a second, so Jiang Hui couldn't possibly accept such excessive kindness.

Unable to waste any more time, the group decided to compromise and take turns sleeping in the tents.

One person keeps watch for the first half of the night, and the other for the second half. The remaining person doesn't have to keep watch, but they have to sleep on the floor downstairs.

It was Huan Xian who suggested it. He refused to go up and sleep in the tent no matter what, because he couldn't quite fit into the same space as Zhou Xiuwen.

It's not that he dislikes her, but given his abilities, having another person too close would have a significant impact. He wouldn't be able to sleep, let alone get a proper rest with his eyes closed.

Even though he had reached a point where he could relatively trust Zhou Xiuwen, the foundation of that ability was still this—constantly accompanying and influencing him, like a shadow. It was just that very few people could make him say it so openly.

Perhaps worried that his two rare companions might think he was being disdainful or being too fussy, he offered to forgo using the tent and simply watch the wind with the people on night watch, only taking a nap in between. After all, in a safe environment, it wouldn't be necessary for two people to watch the wind, and they could take turns flexibly.

Jiang Hui and Zhou Xiuwen didn't find anything offensive in what the other party said, because it was the truth.

Indeed, if Huan Xian could read the various emotions and energy fields in a person, he would be destined to be unable to get too close to others, otherwise it would become a punishment rather than a rest.

So in the end, they went with this method. They realized that if they kept arguing, they wouldn't need a break; they could just pack up and continue the competition.

Since Jiang Hui wasn't that sleepy, she asked Zhou Xiuwen to watch over her during the second half of the night, while Huan Xian set up a temporary space under the tree to "rest."

Jiang Hui was left alone to keep watch. Although humans are inevitably limited and can't do much in the darkness—whether they are or are the enemy—Jiang Hui didn't feel safe. Two of the three of them had rested, making them most relaxed. If someone were to launch a surprise attack now, things wouldn't be so easy.

To avoid attracting enemies with his lighting tools, Jiang Hui simply turned off the lights and sat down on the ground not too far from the ring road, immediately putting himself into a state of high alert.

The lack of sight heightened Jiang Hui's mental sensitivity to an all-time high. The sounds of the wind, the swaying of trees, the subtle rustling of sand rolling in the wind, the buzzing of insects from some distant place, and Huan Xian's even breathing right next to her earpiece... it was as if she could hear everything, creating a peaceful night scene.

She even had a faint feeling that nothing within this area could escape her keen observation. She could detect everything that happened within that area immediately—

Uh, that seems a bit far-fetched. How could she possibly be that amazing?

However, Jiang Hui did feel that she was very sharp at this moment. Moreover, although her whole body and even her mental energy were on high alert, this heightened state did not make her feel tired. On the contrary, it made her slightly excited.

Pulling her wandering thoughts back, Jiang Hui finally entered a state of tranquility and began her night watch.

They were lucky this time; nothing unexpected happened during the shift, and there were no emergencies until Zhou Xiuwen came down to relieve them.

However, if there is any situation, it would probably be Huan Xian. It seems that the other party only fell asleep for the first ten or so stars.

I guess I couldn't hold on any longer, and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the ground. But after about ten minutes, I suddenly woke up with shortness of breath.

Although he didn't talk to Jiang Hui during this time, and just closed his eyes to rest, he could still tell from the other person's breathing that the person was probably still awake.

For the next week or so, the other person didn't seem to fall asleep again.

Later, Zhou Xiuwen came down to relieve him, and Jiang Hui tried to ask him if he wanted to go up and rest for a while, but he still refused no matter what.

With no other option, Jiang Hui climbed into the tent and slept until dawn.

Was I sleeping a little too soundly? When I woke up, it was already past seven o'clock, and it had been more than an hour since dawn.

Jiang Hui suddenly sat up in the tent, somewhat unable to believe her eyes. She looked several times to confirm, and finally realized that it really was a little after seven in the morning.

Why didn't Zhou Xiuwen and the others wake her up?
It's been so long since dawn; those people should have been up and about by now. Jiang Hui quickly peeked out to check the surroundings before carefully climbing down from the high tent.

As soon as she came down, she found that her two teammates were already awake, sitting face to face, chewing on something. The large bag of guns they had retrieved the day before was tied up and placed to the side.

Both of them looked relaxed.
