The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 439 After Class
Chapter 439 After Class
After class, the students dispersed. There was no homework assigned, and they left happily like little birds, or chatting with their new friends about their thrilling adventure.
Jiang Hui was originally ready to leave with Hillman and Clarence, but Stark stopped her.
Hillman and his companion had no choice but to bid her farewell with regret, and the two left together.
Then, before long, only Jiang Hui and three class instructors remained in the huge training room.
The student from Class One chuckled but said nothing, only giving Jiang Hui a cryptic glance before walking away.
Stark, as always, ignored him and called Jiang Hui over.
"Alright, let's reflect on our actions now."
Jiang Hui: ?
She was completely baffled. She had to write a self-criticism? Why wasn't she criticized along with everyone else? She was used to it anyway.
Those people thought Stark was giving her special tutoring or something... well, that's true to some extent, but not the kind of special tutoring they imagined. Sometimes during practical sessions, the other party would keep her behind, and then they would correct and nitpick her performance in class, criticizing her mercilessly.
If it weren't for her relationship with the other person, and knowing that Uncle Tang was doing it for her own good, Jiang Hui would probably have thought her homeroom teacher just disliked her and was picking a fight. After all, while her performance wasn't exactly outstanding, she had never fallen out of the top three. Yet Stark only targeted her in his scolding, which even seemed a bit excessive and exhausting.
Moreover, after experiencing some things, Jiang Hui also realized something: sometimes details really can determine a person's life or death. If you do everything you can to nip things in the bud before they happen, even if you can't completely prevent accidents, you can still create more potential possibilities.
Being meticulous is often not a bad thing.
But didn't the other person praise her this time? Did they give her face in front of the other classes...? How could that be?! Clarence was scolded terribly.
"What, you think you're okay too? If you say yes, then I can let you go back now." Stark glanced at the girl, his gaze devoid of emotion or warmth.
What else could he say? Jiang Hui could only raise his hands in surrender and then began to stumble through a recap of today's series of actions.
She was already very familiar with this process, and basically followed the thought process and route she had taken at the time. She also reflected on or optimized some of the operations she thought were wrong at that time, or made easy-to-modify solutions.
Stark didn't interrupt the whole process, just listened from the side, which was his usual style, giving her enough space.
Of course, this time was slightly different; there was also Captain Lin Qi standing nearby, seemingly watching the spectacle.
Compared to Captain Zou from the next class, she had seen this one even less and he seemed more unfamiliar. Jiang Hui tried her best to ignore the unfamiliar gaze that fell upon her.
Okay, okay, they're just looking at someone else's vegetables, there's nothing strange about it—just think of yourself as a vegetable.
After she finished speaking, she waited for her elder's usual sharp critique, but this time it seemed genuinely different. Stark lowered his head and asked, "That's all?"
"Yes," Jiang Hui replied; that was all she could think of.
"What you said is all there is to it, but that's not what I want to hear today."
Jiang Hui shook her head slightly, somewhat puzzled. What did she mean by 'what she wanted to hear wasn't these things'? What was it then? "Since I praised you before, it wasn't just polite talk. If you accepted it, don't find those fancy 'flaws' for yourself. I remember it wasn't like this at the beginning."
Please, boss, I've already identified my own shortcomings, and now you're telling me not to doubt myself...
Jiang Hui was completely bewildered by this barrage of questions: "Then why did you keep me here—"
“Of course, there are other things to say,” Stark said.
"Pfft!"
Stark in front of her had no expression, and she had never seen him smile like this before, so the only one smiling at this moment was the other person present.
Listening to the somewhat strange conversation between the teacher and student, Lin Qi couldn't help but laugh out loud. He was genuinely amused by the two young people.
Lynch was still wondering what Stark would say to Jiang Hui. He didn't mean to stay and interrupt the teacher and student's lecture, but he happened to have something he wanted to say to Stark, so he didn't leave immediately and then he overheard their conversation.
He wondered if the fair and impartial Captain Stark would really give students extra tutoring as Zou Yi had said. So this was what extra tutoring was like; wasn't this just an upgraded version of his previous criticisms of the other students in the class? Anyway, it was all criticism.
Judging from their practiced manner, it's clear they've done this kind of self-reflection many times before, and the child's self-awareness is ridiculously accurate. Lin Qi certainly couldn't find anyone like this in his own class; they're so easy to manage...too easy to manage.
The other person's explanation was so good, but then Stark actually rejected it on the spot, and even played a riddle, as if he wanted the other person's child to guess.
Is it so hard for you to say one more word?
Stark paused, then said nothing. After all, he was a senior, and he always held Captain Lynch in high regard.
“You did a great job today. I’m not going back on my previous comments, but there’s one thing I need to add to your assessment.”
"I want to know why your first reaction when faced with an attack is always to dodge? I have seen many of your past performances and found that whenever there is a conflict or danger, you tend to choose a passive position and rarely take the initiative to attack."
"This is quite rare among people your age. Even the least skilled student will tend to be more aggressive when faced with danger, but your first reaction is to dodge. This will be detrimental to your future development, and I hope you can make some adjustments based on your own combat style."
Jiang Hui was stunned for a moment. Was she being passively... dodging?
She hadn't noticed it until the other person pointed it out, but thinking about it this way, it did seem to make sense.
Indeed, during that raid, which wasn't particularly long but wasn't short either, Jiang Hui seemed to be constantly dodging. When faced with danger and obstacles, she preferred to seek external solutions rather than using her own power to solve problems. This had become a very common combat strategy for her.
On the surface, these all seem like methods of escape, but given her current status as a combat individual specialist student, this approach is clearly the most disadvantageous. If she doesn't correct this or fully integrate it into her combat style in the long run, she will easily fall into a disadvantageous position in battle.
