Chapter 485 Shooting Exam
A year ago, Noah would never have imagined that he would become friends with He, a classmate who was known for being a loner in the class.

Their relationship had always been distant, and he was even hesitant to get close to He Si, just like others, because of He Si's high standards for him.

However, it was only recently, at the beginning of this semester, that I saw the other person's persistence and saw his true desire to improve, which inspired me a lot, and the two of us gradually grew closer.

Although Hess was a man of few words, it was Noah who took the initiative to befriend him, and the two became friends under such strange circumstances.

After several days of written exams, Noah felt some pressure as the practical exam was scheduled for tomorrow. So he invited Hess to the simulated mecha training ground to get a feel for the game.

Of course, Noah was the one really looking to get back into form, and He Si was just accompanying him. This prodigy had already broken into the top 300 six months ago and hadn't fallen out of that position since. It seemed likely that he would break into the top 300 before graduation, at which point he could join the existing 300+ record holders on this list and become a new record.

Unexpectedly, while he was waiting here, he saw He Si, who was rushing over, almost bump into someone, and what's more, it was someone he knew.

Well, perhaps this was an "acquaintance" to them, but they treated it as just another face in the crowd and left quickly.

He Si seemed indifferent, but he glanced back twice in the direction the other person had left, so it's safe to assume he was still bothered.

How could I not care? That person's development has truly astonished people.

You think she just got first place when she entered school and then quietly honed her skills in the first year of training?
No, she's always been surrounded by "news," all sorts of things, like shooting lessons, practical training, even mecha lessons, and the recent super-hot ranking competition at the training ground. Her presence has never faded from the ears of her classmates, or even from those of us in the upperclassmen.

The other student was undoubtedly the most outstanding student in the first year. Especially considering she broke into the top 300 on her first attempt at the training field, this couldn't be explained by luck. Her strength perfectly matched her presence in the group, perhaps even more so. It was precisely this incident that made some second and third-year students truly take her seriously.

From the very first encounter, He Si had been determined to challenge her. After experiencing these events, he naturally became even more concerned. Noah knew that his friend was probably still thinking about how to compete with this junior again…

"Let's go, He, the training room will probably close soon if we stay any longer."

"...Sigh, I wonder what new tricks they'll pull for tomorrow's shooting test? All the teachers are being so secretive when I ask them."

Two figures, one in front of the other, cast long shadows under the streetlights, making the night seem even more tranquil.

Meanwhile, Jiang Hui, who was facing away, also hurried towards the dormitory, hoping to get some rest before tomorrow's shooting exam.

--------------

"Huh?" Hillman, who had just received a text message from the school affairs platform, looked dazed, as if he was still a little slow to react.

"...The individual shooting exam will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM in areas G to O. The exam is open to all first- and second-year students in the Combat Individual Soldier Department. Please arrive at your assigned exam room on time. Latecomers will not be admitted." Clarence calmly recited this long message.

This was a notice to the entire combat unit, stating that today's shooting exam would be a mixed exam for first and second-year students, with exam venues and times randomly assigned, and that they should arrive on time. Jiang Hui also received this text message at the same time.

The three of them had the same schedule for the day, so they arrived here early. They had just chatted for a while, guessing what the test would be like, but unexpectedly, it started with a huge bombshell.

"A mixed-grade exam?! Does the school even care about our lives anymore?! Taking the exam with second-year students is killing us... no, this is killing me." He can barely even beat his first-year classmates, and now he's competing with second-year students. Is he going to fail this subject?

“I’ve been telling you to practice more all the time, but you wouldn’t listen. You just kept thinking that ‘flying low’ would be enough.” Clarence glared at someone, his face saying, ‘You’re reaping what you sowed.’

This person was probably used to being angered, and wasn't angry at all because of his friend's seemingly sarcastic remarks. He was just short of clinging to the person's leg and howling for help.

Clarence was naturally powerless to help, because he and Hillman were in different sections. One was in the H section, and the other in the Q section, which was far enough that he couldn't help them even if he wanted to. Furthermore... even if they were in the same section, he couldn't really offer much assistance; it proved that everything still depended on oneself.

Jiang Hui was coincidentally assigned to the same exam room as Clarence, but she was in the first round while he was in the third.

Despite his complaints, Clarence couldn't bear to see the other person take the exam feeling completely "dejected," so he took the opportunity to give him some pointers on shooting techniques. Although he didn't think they would be very effective, he figured that if this careless guy paid a little more attention, they might be of some use.

Jiang Hui then suggested that Hillman calm down a bit.

She felt that technique was secondary; the main thing was to adjust one's mindset, as the other person was too flustered. He wasn't acting; he genuinely seemed a bit panicked, probably lacking confidence in facing the second-year students.

Mindset is crucial in many things. Approaching something calmly is different from doing it frantically. The latter leads to more mistakes and more chaos. Sometimes, remaining calm and improving mental resilience are more advantageous in dealing with various situations. The school's delay in announcing this is probably an attempt to wage psychological warfare.

With the two offering their half-hearted words of comfort, Xi felt a little more at ease and soon resumed eating her breakfast without a care in the world.

It's only a little before eight o'clock. Sections H and Q aren't far from here, so going over so early would just cause them anxiety. They might as well stay here for a while. They plan to go over after nine o'clock.

"I just logged onto the school network and there's an updated announcement about the exam schedule. The schedule shows that Captain Lynch is the proctor for section H..."

Jiang Hui was sitting with her back turned, unaware that two people had just walked past her not far behind. The other person, noticing her voice, glanced over; it was the second-year senior she had met briefly yesterday.

However, the two seemed not to hear and slowly walked across the area to the other side.

After walking quite a distance, Noah whispered to He Si, "He Si, did you hear that? They seem to be from Zone H as well, the same as us. Are they really going to take the exam together with us?"

"...Everyone is the same," the boy replied calmly.
