Chapter 54 Theory Lecture (Part 1)
Hmm, the food is pretty good.

Jiang Hui had already started eating, but it was clear that the people who provided the snacks weren't really planning on letting them eat properly; it was probably just a formality… because she hadn't even finished her first piece when the entire conference hall fell silent, as staff members who seemed to be hosting the course entered.

As the adults entered in an orderly fashion from the front row, a large group of them rushed in and found their seats. Then there was a brief period of noise as the group's employees, who were helping with the setup, busied themselves with making arrangements. Soon, everything was mostly settled, and someone closed the front door.

The lights in the council chamber seemed to be turned up instantly, and the entire space became bright and quiet. You could almost hear the sound of something hitting the floor.

The interstellar people were quite obedient and efficient, with people at all levels cooperating well. This allowed such a large-scale event to be organized so quickly. On Earth, perhaps only a citizens' assembly could achieve this level of efficiency.

Jiang Hui naturally put the half-eaten pastry back into the box, and like everyone else around her, she put on a respectful expression.

"Hello everyone." Suddenly, a voice rang out from somewhere, belonging to a young man.

Before she could look ahead to find it, she saw the strange metal panels at the very front of the workbench suddenly flip open, projecting a large, clear image out of thin air.

Jiang Hui's hands, which were behind her back, tightened slightly, and she instinctively leaned back defensively. The appearance of the light screen was quite sudden, startling her without warning.

However, perhaps because she was already used to all sorts of strange and high-tech products in interstellar space, she quickly calmed down this time, her expression remained unchanged, and she began to seriously examine this thing that she had never seen before.

This is actually somewhat like a 3D projection composed of light particles. The base from which it is emitted is probably the metal ring embedded in front of the workbench. After being projected, it presents a 3D image around the entire workbench, and it's quite clear.

No wonder the organizers weren't worried about people at the back not being able to see or hear the lecture in such a large conference hall; apparently, the projection was precisely distributed to every seat.

After only a slight distraction, Jiang Hui's attention returned to the young man in the image who had spoken first.

After drawing everyone's attention, the person on behalf of the group welcomed everyone to the event. They then introduced themselves as the director of the Dongbo branch in this area, responsible for the handmade mecha experience class. Following this, without further ado, came a brief list of precautions, including "keep the area quiet," "do not move around during the event," and reminders such as "be careful," etc.

Basically, the entire document was just emphasizing safety for all the children and warning them not to do anything dangerous. This gives a good indication of the nature of the activity, since even the organizers seemed to know who the primary audience for the course was.

But since she was already here, there was no point in dwelling on it. Although she hadn't paid any registration fee, the transportation costs from her apartment to the First Ring Road weren't cheap, and she was going to spend the whole day here.

Besides, to be honest, Jiang Hui probably doesn't know as much about mechas as the kids here, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about coming to this class. She can't just come for nothing, right?! She'll learn well; she won't lose out.

With that in mind, Jiang Hui quickly joined the other participants in the open course.

This hands-on mecha-making workshop was actually divided into two parts. One part was theoretical, which was essentially a science popularization session, and the other part was the actual hands-on operation, which was the final mecha-making activity. Jiang Hui was more interested in the latter, but the former was also the part she needed to understand most at this stage.

The theoretical portion will reportedly be taught by three instructors. One is a professor from the Mech Association, who will be responsible for explaining the most significant weapon revolutions since humanity entered the interstellar age and how mechs came to be.

However, the professor looked quite old, and his teaching style was very much in line with his age, carrying a heavy, even dull, feel. Many of the children in the conference hall couldn't quite keep up, but this was a required course for those researching mecha. They would also need to take this course to graduate if they were to attend university. It was just a matter of getting a head start, so it wasn't a bad deal.

Jiang Hui listened with great interest. She didn't find it boring at all, because this was exactly the part she needed to understand. This actually touched on the history of human interstellar development, but the other person focused more on analyzing the needs of human development and how these needs and conflicts promoted and facilitated the birth of mechs.

This part, which resembled a framework, was rather dull, so the organizers didn't allocate much time for it, only giving it a brief overview. Finally, the other party ended this part of the lecture under Jiang Hui's lingering gaze.

It's a pity.

Jiang Hui decided to find relevant books to read after she got back, in order to make up for the regret of not having listened to them to her heart's content this time.

The second part of the lesson was taught by a professional woman who appeared very capable and efficient. She was said to be an experienced intermediate mecha pilot from the Mecha Pilots Association.

The classification of interstellar mech pilots is simple: there are three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. However, a mech pilot's strength cannot be determined by such a simple level.

Young people who have just graduated from school can only take the exam to become junior mecha pilots. Even if they are very talented, they are limited by their years of experience and cannot immediately take the next level exam.

Those who genuinely want to take the exam but lack the necessary qualifications can only gain the eligibility to take the intermediate-level mech pilot exam through an exceptional recommendation from a senior mech pilot. This regulation seems outdated, but it is an ironclad rule that has maintained the normal operation of the Mech Pilot Association for several stellar years, and almost no one has been able to break it.

Intermediate-level mech pilots constitute the largest group of qualified mech pilots across the entire interstellar space, possessing the most solid foundations. Most of these mech pilots have a strong foundation, rich experience, and sufficient professional skills.

The qualification of a senior mech pilot is not something that can be obtained casually. The vast majority of non-professional interstellar pilots still do not know the standards and methods for obtaining this qualification.

Those who hold the title of Senior Mech Pilot are often already famous before they even obtain this qualification.

It can be said that advanced mecha pilots are associated with terms like "renowned" and "master." There is no advanced mecha pilot who is unknown and obscure.
