Legend has it that after leaving their home planet, humanity was once homeless, wandering the vast universe on seventeen interstellar carriers built with the combined efforts of all humankind. They were the last seeds of humanity, carrying the last embers of their race, so no matter how arduous the road ahead, they could only keep moving forward.

During the long period of wandering, the number of accompanying aircraft carriers dwindled. Although they could barely replenish some resources while away from home, it was a matter of robbing Peter to pay Paul for a homeless human, and not a long-term solution.

They did try their best to find a suitable place to settle in this vast land, intending to take root in new soil and build a new civilization for mankind. However, they failed for various reasons and had to migrate again to find a new home.

The universe is vast, and different cosmic domains have different centers and their rulers. Humanity is but a drop in the ocean, adrift within it. They wander, despair, are driven out, and then rise again. Humans are such a wondrous and strange race, enduring countless hardships yet never giving up.

After an unknown amount of time, and countless tragic and bloody events, humanity had gradually mastered the mysteries of spiritual power. During their long journey, they finally arrived at another part of the universe, far from their home planet.

Fortunately, this universe is vast and rich in resources, and there is currently no truly unified ruler, making it the perfect place to explore.

However, this is precisely the problem: why is such a large, fertile field empty? Naturally, it is because there are obstacles preventing the surrounding creatures from finding a way to occupy this unclaimed territory.

Although there is no unified ruler in this universe, it cannot be said that there is none; it can only be said that they exist in different ways.

Star Beast.

They arrived here earlier than humans and enjoyed the sweet fruits of this vast star field much sooner, so they were even more unable to relinquish the benefits they had gained.

They are of different races, each with a number of powerful figures who govern and lead them, and each possessing unique talents and abilities.

If they could unite, they would one day become the rulers of a region of the universe. Unfortunately, like humanity, their birthplace suffered a calamity, and they can only drift in interstellar space like duckweed. Their original civilization has also completely fallen into disarray, resulting in the current chaotic, scattered, and fragmented situation where everyone is fighting their own battles.

Before they could redevelop into a civilization, humanity invaded this star system, and the two sides began to clash over resources and the right to survival.

At the beginning, the humans were no match for the star beasts and were unfamiliar with this universe. With the initiative in their hands, they suffered repeated defeats and were once surrounded and attacked by dozens of star beast groups, almost to the point of death.

Large numbers of elite human warriors fell in battle, and the already dwindling interstellar carriers suffered further losses. As they began to waver, the approaching horde of star beasts relentlessly pursued them, leaving them no chance to escape this cosmic region.

Humanity has reached a point of life and death.

Humans are not the type to accept their fate. When they realized that reconciliation was impossible, they began to fight to the death, with their ancestors sacrificing their lives and their descendants following in their footsteps. The stubbornness and wisdom inherent in the human race's genes gradually manifested at this time, and they evolved once again, engaging in a deadly struggle against the star beasts that lasted for several star eras.

Ultimately, humanity successfully carved out a clean space in the center of this universe.

They named the planet they captured after their victory in the first war, which was quite similar to their former home planet, Qian, meaning heaven, and also known as Qian Ancestral Star.

Later, the human race gradually cleared out eight relatively habitable planets, forming the prototype of this central star region's sub-ring. Humanity began to expand outwards from this center.

After nine star eras of evolution, the human race's territory has long since formed a complete system, vastly different from what it once was. Today, the central star region, besides the first nine stars and the seven luminaries, comprises twelve star rings from the inside out, dotted with countless planets of varying sizes. The number of registered standard planets alone exceeds one hundred thousand, not counting scattered or undeveloped ones. The central star region can be said to be home to the majority of humanity's elite forces.

If one day humanity faces another life-or-death crisis, then the central star sector will undoubtedly be the last line of defense for humanity to preserve its flame.

Of course, this is completely detached from reality. After all, humanity has already occupied the dominant position in this universe, and any other race that wants to force humanity to this point would have to eliminate more than 90% of the human population. Currently, there are no known species that can do this.

Returning to the main point, besides being a political and military center, the Central Star Sector also serves as an educational hub. Nearly half of the Empire's public higher education institutions are located here, including seven of the Empire's directly affiliated higher military academies, making it a truly key educational region. Almost every student in the interstellar space aspires to attend a higher education institution in the Central Star Sector during their lifetime.

The two higher military academies that Jiang Hui and his friends were going to attend were both located in the central star sector. It just so happened that this year was also a year of great brilliance—a year that is often the most likely to produce a constellation of stars. It was likely that their academic journey ahead would not be peaceful.

Of course, Jiang Hui and the others weren't thinking too much about it at the moment. They were currently gathered anxiously in the control room, all staring at the central display screen. Hundreds of rows of data were scrolling rapidly on it, with hundreds and thousands of star orbits and space vortexes swirling and intersecting, creating a three-dimensional image that constantly changed with the scrolling data.

Dozens of people in the control room were engrossed in debugging and operating the system, constantly communicating and coordinating with each other through their piloting positions, making calls and changes, and jointly controlling and piloting this massive starship.

"Ready? One last jump."

"Positions 1 through 10, please get ready and stop all your actions within three seconds. If you hear me, please respond."

"Rear and middle row support personnel, please listen to instructions."

"Now, begin, ready, three, two—"

Everyone was focused intently on preparing for the course jump. A few beads of sweat glistened on the captain's forehead, but his hand on the main control switch remained steady, so that none of the fleet members with their backs to him could tell what was going on. Everyone was focused on awaiting his final decision.

"One—begin the jump."

The three onlookers, who had been merely serving as background figures, gasped for breath, feeling a disorienting shift in space. For a fleeting moment, their feet seemed to be separated from some immense and terrifying force, only to land on the ground again in an instant. All the changes happened in the blink of an eye, and their footing returned to normal.

The jump has been completed as planned.

There was a moment of silence in the control room, followed by a small cheer.

Jiang Hui breathed a sigh of relief. It worked; it seemed Hillman wouldn't be late after all.
