Chapter 1352: Caledon Dragon Field
Caledo Prison is located deep in the Anuli Mountains. The surrounding environment is complex, with forests, canyons, and mountain roads everywhere, and there is not much security force outside.
But still no one is stupid enough to escape from prison, this area is the main hunting ground of dragons, and violent sun dragons often fly by, and anyone who approaches without the relevant magic talisman will be hit by its breath.
The hollowed-out mountain and spiral-shaped cells gave the battle-hardened Kurt a chill. He had never expected that Caledo's prison would be a hollowed-out mine.
The hole is a hundred meters in diameter, with abandoned slag and waste piled up at the bottom. The sharp spikes can turn anyone who falls into it into a hedgehog with just a slight touch.
Surrounding the abandoned mine are cells of equal size. The cells do not have the usual iron bars. Instead, they are empty, like grids embedded in the mountain. In the rock grids, the prisoners can touch the freedom they have always dreamed of. They only need to stretch out their hands and climb up through the gaps, and it seems that they can escape from the prison.
There are two possibilities for doing so. The first is that they would be pulled to the abandoned mine by the gravity spell in the center and turned into countless bloody hedgehogs. The other is that they would climb to the top and be swallowed by the giant dragon living in the nest at the top.
Gravekeeper, this is what the black-robed elf calls himself, and Kurt finds this name very interesting.
"Gravekeeper...you were once a criminal, too."
The gravekeeper remained silent and came to the core of the prison at the bottom floor. He spoke a series of complex encrypted passwords to the man who was also wearing a black robe.
"Your Highness's request, those below level 4 will be taken away."
The manager verified the situation many times, including asking the gravekeepers to pull up their sleeves to reveal rows of complex and profound ancient elven runes, and carefully identified whether there was any possibility of replacement.
"Roster."
A thin document was handed over to Kurt by the gravekeeper.
Of course Kurt couldn't understand the Elvish language, so he handed it to a Rick's Guard who was accompanying him. Except for him and Karl Franz, most of the Rick's Guards who were traveling with him knew something about the Elvish language. Some of them, at the emperor's request, had become language experts who could understand the accents of various countries in Ulthuan.
"Find some people who can be used... not political prisoners or people of low moral character."
Kurt knew very well that retrieving people from prison was like panning for gold in shit, but if he really found something, it would be much more useful than an elf found by normal means.
Rick Guard took the roster, which recorded the personnel in the prison in a very concise way and was divided into three levels.
First are the minor criminals placed at the bottom. These are prisoners waiting to be exiled. Most of them have committed things that are considered extremely shameful in Caledonian society... embezzling comrades' pensions, bullying widows, incest, etc.
The knights automatically ignored these moral lepers. The empire was not a garbage dump. No matter how capable they were, they had to at least follow some rules that were generally recognized by society.
The criminals placed on the second floor attracted some attention from the knights. Most of the moral crimes disappeared, but some...
"Sir Kurt, I found the deeds of a dragon prince. He may be of great value to the empire."
"Say it." Kurt was not subtle. He asked the translator to say it right there in front of the two prison guards. Kurt was not a shy person.
"Rosetina Majorus was ordered to suppress the Naggaroth Rebellion in the 71st year after the coronation of the Phoenix King. Due to tactical errors and other reasons, he lured the Shadow Tribe deep into a human settlement in the Obsidian Peaks, causing irreparable damage... Indefinite imprisonment."
Being ordered to suppress the rebellion meant that this Rosetina was recognized by Caledo. As for which Caledo, Kurt was too lazy to think about it. Anyway, they were of the same character, father and son.
"I need a detailed file on Rosetina Majorus." The marshal stretched out his hand and asked the gravekeeper to cooperate. He did not believe that the records in the prison were so limited.
The gravekeeper hesitated for a moment, but then he agreed after thinking about what His Highness had told him before.
Let the Empire take away all the guys they can, especially those troublemakers. Since they can't function normally in Ulthuan, they should go to the Old World to redeem themselves and prove that they have the honor to return home.
Rosetina Majorus... one of the biggest troublemakers. The biggest mistake he made was not following the rules of mutual respect between elves and humans led by the court, and he used humans as bait without authorization.
Although the battle report was perfect, and the Shadow Tribe in an area was completely wiped out at the cost of losing hundreds of houses and dozens of lives, there was no prior plan to inform them, which led to extremely serious public opinion impact on the New World society.
Without the need for archive files, the gravekeeper told the story of Rosetina Majoras in a hoarse voice.
"Rosetina Majorus, former noble of Tal Kalede, Prince of the Dragon Seal, winner of numerous medals of honor..."
"The Sealed Dragon Prince? You mean he had a dragon ally two hundred years ago."
The gravekeeper nodded dully. After the Battle of Finuval Plains, the prince added golden dragon wing shoulder straps to all high-level dragon princes as a recognition of Caledor's outstanding contributions.
And Rosetina is the only Dragon Prince who was given the honor but ended up in prison.
"You can take him away, but whether Mr. Rossetina is willing to do so depends on his own opinion..."
Kurt signaled Rick's guards to stop reading the roster. The marshal became more and more curious about the dragon prince. What kind of situation could make someone who was already at the pinnacle of power in the kingdom become a prisoner...
If an important military noble is imprisoned, countless forces will be implicated. Kurt is not naive enough to think that Draconian can completely ignore the nobles' ideas and throw anyone he wants into jail into the mine the next day.
Defense, trial, force judgment...all kinds of means can help Rossetina escape successfully.
Kurt followed the spiral corridor of the mountain and came to the second floor. When the gravekeeper opened the iron cell with a key, he slowly walked into the room where he could see the prisoners opposite.
From this perspective, this prison is quite humane, and prisoners can even chat freely.
"Who are you? I have never seen a monkey like you." A very smoothly polished steel spike was pressed against the marshal's neck as Kurt just stepped into the cell.
Very strong...
Kurt made an immediate judgment. He was immediately controlled without even feeling any movement in the cell.
"I am Kurt Helberg of the Empire, and I come to visit His Excellency Rosetina Majorus with sincerity."
"I don't like communicating with monkeys, go away."
The steel spike left Kurt's neck, allowing the marshal to see the elf that threatened his life.
In the fairly tidy cell, a middle-aged elf with long golden hair tied into a ponytail was sitting on a stone chair, reading a book intently, as if nothing had happened just now. (End of this chapter)
