Chapter 1675, Section 308: Infernal Affairs

Biros stared intently at the Skaven High Priest, thinking, "They really are 'like-minded'... That's fine, a divided Skaven is beneficial to everyone, including the demons."

Including rat people.

The Skaven High Priest ignored, or rather, didn't care about, Biros's thoughts: "It will happen this month, you can wait."

Biros did consider the possibility of cooperating with the ratmen.

Unlike the Stoan and Macken ratmen, their main force is not in the North and they are not good at fighting, so there is no need to worry about them threatening the demons.

In the end, when betrayal occurs, there's not much of a price to pay.

Biros flickered her forked tongue, revealing a willingness to consider: "If the area near the volcano is not feasible, I can have Lady Lilith grant you a piece of the Northern Territory, the former territory of Annan Reeves."

"No, it must be the far north."

Biros frowned: "Why?"

The high priest of the Skaven had no intention of explaining. This time, unlike before, when Biros believed there was a basis for cooperation, she was willing to show some goodwill.

However, for those demons who couldn't even muster a complete brain out of a hundred, compromise is the devil's weakness.

Biros replied, "I cannot make the decision myself; I need to consult Lady Lilith."

"The Holy Race will stay here."

"Yes, but it must be within our sight."

Even with such a demanding request, the High Priest of the Stoun ratmen agreed. Biros couldn't see what the Stoun ratmen were doing. Could there be something wrong with this frozen land?
"Who brought you here?" Biros asked finally. She had a guess in her mind, but she wanted to confirm it again.

"Annan Reeves".

So, it was Lilith's arrangement after all?
Lady Lilith doesn't intend to devour these ratmen herself, but rather to secretly cooperate with them?
Lady Lilith wants to use the Stunn ratmen to hold off the McKenna ratmen?

Unable to guess what had happened, Biros had no choice but to tell Lady Lilith everything that had occurred.

Leaving some ratmen behind to guard them, Biro led the other demons back to the camp. The first thing she did was to have her men find historical records from the North.

Unfortunately, because the North had been plowed by the Skaven and then by the Demons, there wasn't a single tree left to make pulp, let alone books.

Lady Lilith's reply came quickly, containing only two things: she would be in charge of the cooperation; and the investigation of the far north.

Regarding the investigation, Biros has no leads yet. As for the cooperation, Lady Lilith has delegated authority to her, allowing Biros to fully utilize her abilities.

First, try to figure out your boss's intentions—to bring in the Stoun ratmen. Does Lady Lilith want to use the Stoun ratmen to hold off the McKenna ratmen?

That's exactly what Biros thought too.

……

Annan was unaware that thousands of miles away in the far north, a six-armed serpent demon shared the same idea as him: to use the Stunn ratmen as troublemakers.

However, the mess they're stirring up is different. Annan wants the Stoan ratmen to stir up the mess of demons and McKenne ratmen. The six-armed serpent demon, on the other hand, wants to stir up the mess of humans and McKenne ratmen.

However, they all overlooked the troublemaker's own thoughts—it didn't want to stir up trouble; it wanted to be another pile of shit.

After sending the rodent clan away, Annan was both afraid that they would not fight and afraid that they would fight to the death. After all, the main force of the Stunn ratmen was not in the south. The best outcome was that both sides would be weakened and then the conflict would be kept at a low intensity.

As a result, they really stopped fighting now. Seeing that the rodent clan, who had run to the far north, had talked to the demons about something, the situation in the north suddenly got out of control: the rodent clan allowed the demons to surround them, and before long, the demons actually retreated, allowing the ratmen to start building stone houses in the far north, as if they were in a honeymoon period, while Annan was left alone on the side.

There was some gain, though: the reconnaissance airship discovered that the leader of these demons was a six-armed snake demon.

The difficulty of capturing a six-armed serpent demon from a horde of demons is unimaginable.

"The demon just let it go like that?"

Annan couldn't understand the harmonious coexistence between the demons and the ratmen, or perhaps the Stunn ratmen and the demons had reached some secret cooperation that he was unaware of?
He sent Maria and Gale to inquire within the tribe, but they received no response. He then asked the rat-man elder, who also looked puzzled and said he didn't know what was going on.

Annan ignored his nonsense. If the ratman elder didn't know, he would have drained the succubus dry!

This is a real headache. This time, I can't even find anyone to scout out... The intelligence organization that relies on the newspaper only gathers information in human city-states. I need to find someone who can get in touch with Stun or the demons.

First, let's rule out the devil. Speaking of which, there really is a demon in Liberty City disguised as a ratman. That doesn't seem like a bad option.
Annan quickly called Lilith over and asked her, "Where are the demon rats?"

The lustful demon was carrying wood with his fellow workers at the construction site of the Spider Queen's Church.

When Lilith appeared at the construction site, intending to take the succubus to see Annan, she terrified her fellow workers.

"Sigh, I'll explain when I get back." The succubus, with an expression that seemed to say, "I wanted to contact you as an ordinary rat," followed Lilith away.

"Lady Lilith..."

“You can call me Lilith,” Lilith said.

"How about that..."

The hunched back of the succubus seemed more real.

Without turning her head, Lilith said, "That's what everyone else calls me too."

"Understood, Lilith..."

A surge of pleasure coursed through him. "I'm sorry, Lady Biros. I accidentally did something you've always been afraid to do—I called Lady Lilith by her first name!"
Following Lilith to the second-floor lounge of the city lord's mansion, Annan looked out the window with his back to the door and asked, "Russ, you've been in Free City for half a month now, how are you feeling?"

"It's... about the same as a rat's nest," the demon rat said insincerely.

Annan didn't expose him, but smiled and said, "Alright, now there's a chance to send you back."

"What?"

Annan turned around: "I sent the Rodent Clan to the far north, but the expected conflict did not occur; instead, they have settled down peacefully. I need you to come with me to find out what is happening within the Rodent Clan."

"Is it too late for me to back out now?" The lustful demon changed his tune: "Freedom City is truly a beautiful place, the flowers are in full bloom, and the birds are singing..."

"What's troubling you?" Annan asked it.

The succubus almost revealed that he was a demon in disguise. Annan definitely knew—this guy was determined that he and the rat-men weren't on the same side, and he wanted him to investigate!
She protested, saying, "I...I'm not your rat. The elders will punish me if I do things for you."

"You can be."

The lustful demon was stunned, then awkwardly turned his face away.

"Well, let's make this clear first, I can't guarantee I'll be able to find out anything."
