Chapter 1716, Page 349: The Dungeon, but the Department of Etiquette
Albek sighed, "I'm just worried that keeping it from him will disappoint Annan if he finds out the truth."
“There’s no other way, Albek. You should know how important the plan is.” The legion commander also admired Annan, but now was not the time to concern himself with personal feelings. “It concerns infiltration… we can only give him more benefits when the time comes.”
“Okay, where is he now?” Albek looked at the deputy warden, who hadn’t commented from the beginning.
"your home."
……
“Madam, I, like you, firmly believe that Albek has been wronged…”
Albayk's wife was the same age as him and still retained traces of her youthful beauty. Because of Albayk's plight, she looked very haggard and whispered sadly, "What if he really did something to betray the Empire..."
"How could you think like that? You are his wife, you should trust him."
Mrs. Albayk silently shed tears: "I tried, but that's a courtroom..."
"Even gods make mistakes, let alone humans. Don't worry, I will prove Blackwatch innocent."
"Thank you for everything you've done for my husband..."
“I should, because I know they are loyal to the Empire.”
"But if...they really were..."
"Then there's no need for the empire to continue existing..."
Annan wasn't sure if the Albek family had any spies, but it didn't matter. He still had a whole repertoire of harsh words he could say, such as "Do you love the Empire? Does the Empire love you?" and "Empire, stop your steps and wait for your people." Those loyal Inquisition followers would absolutely not be able to stand it.
After offering a few more words of comfort to Mrs. Albayk, a commotion suddenly broke out outside the door.
Annan and Mrs. Albayk stood up. Compared to Mrs. Albayk's uneasy expression, Annan was more surprised.
Can't sit still so soon?
Upon opening the door, I was greeted by the familiar sight of someone dressed in black armor and robes.
Annan, standing at the door, sarcastically remarked, "I haven't even put in any effort yet, and you're already failing?"
The priest in the court did not waste words with him.
"take away."
The soldiers rushed up the steps and surrounded Annam.
Annan turned to Mrs. Albayk, who looked worried, and said, "Madam, don't worry, I will bring Mr. Albayk back."
They were put into a carriage and led onto the street.
Looking out through the gap in the carriage window, Annan suddenly spoke up: "Have you taken the wrong road?"
"No," came the reply from outside.
“You’ve definitely gone the wrong way; this isn’t the way to the courtroom.”
Immediately afterward, a head popped out of the window: "Who said they went to the courtroom?"
……
Department of Ceremonies, Dungeon.
Annan sat in the interrogation room, watching the officials from the Ministry of Protocol walk back and forth outside, and laughed in anger.
When he was arrested, he had already planned out what would happen next:
He was arrested and brought to the courtroom. As a minor lord, he argued with the Grand Judge, was ridiculed and framed, but endured the hardship to save Blackwatch, watching the Grand Judge fall into his trap step by step.
Finally, the display of the golden skull bracelet on his wrist reversed the situation, bringing the epic "Annan's rampage in Montreal Hills" and "Saving Private Blackwatch" to a perfect conclusion. Everyone will remember that Annan Reeves single-handedly stormed into the courtroom and saved Blackwatch.
Who would have thought that the Inquisition, after arresting him, would turn around and pass him on as a hot potato to the Protocol Department? "You're all a bunch of cowards!" he yelled at the Inquisition priests who hadn't left yet. "I colluded with the Blackwatch, why didn't you arrest me!"
The priests in the courtroom seemed not to hear anything, their backs to the courtroom, and they didn't even dare to look over.
knock knock knock.
The official opposite Annan tapped on the table: "Give up, Annan, they won't listen to you."
"I never knew the court was so 'resolute,' turning a blind eye even when being bullied like this," Annan said sarcastically.
“Even the farmers in the Montreal mountains know you’re here to rescue the Blackwatch. They’d be cowards to actually arrest you,” the protocol officer shrugged. “But I enjoy hearing bad things about the Inquisition. Could you say a few more?”
Annan did not grant the official's request and instead said, "Send Oli to see me."
"Stop struggling, the court won't let wolves into the house." A voice rang out from outside the interrogation room.
Annan turned around and saw the Minister of Protocol, Oli, and his subordinates at the door.
"Uncle Ollie, you have to help me!"
Minister Eurydice said with a playful tone, "That's not what you just said."
"I just don't want to expose our relationship to outsiders."
“The man opposite you is my nephew; you’re the outsider,” Minister Eurydice sighed.
Annan turned around, looking surprised: "So you're Isabel's brother. No wonder you looked familiar."
The young official chuckled twice and stood up to make way for his uncle.
Annan also stood up and was about to chase after the priests of the court who had not gone far.
"Halt! You're a prisoner now. Where do you think you're going?" An official next to Minister Eury stepped forward, blocking Annan's path.
"No time to explain, get out of the way!"
Minister Eugene calmly looked at Annan: "Annan Reeves, you will be sentenced to ten days of imprisonment for disrupting the courtroom and disturbing the order of the capital."
"Ten days?" Annan sneered. "If they're locked up for ten days and then released, the only people I can save are Albek and his men's leaders, right?"
"Get out of the way, I need to get to the courtroom!"
The official, feigning sternness, said, "Annan Reeves, this isn't Free City, where you can do whatever you want. Do you even respect imperial law?"
"Of course I don't take the empire seriously."
"you……"
"The empire is meant to be respected from the heart, not like you who spout loyalty while engaging in acts that harm it!"
"How have we harmed the Empire?!" The official, who had no prior contact with Annam, fell into Annam's logical trap without much resistance.
"They colluded with the Inquisition, persecuted loyal officials, stood by and watched as Blackwatch was slandered without doing anything, and yet they claim they did not harm the Empire."
The official realized he had fallen into a trap and tried to extricate himself, gritting his teeth and saying, "This is a matter for the Empire. Don't forget, you are just an outsider. Even the title of Champion Warlock was bestowed upon you by us!"
"And don't forget, I played a crucial role in your rise to power."
The official froze, horrified to be smeared in front of Minister Eurydice. Feeling guilty, he stammered, "What...what do I have to do with you?"
"What does my title have to do with you, even half a copper coin?"
Annan raised his head slightly, as if his gaze pierced through the dungeon and rock strata, looking up at the distant palace gardens surrounding the mountains: "My title was bestowed upon me by the Emperor and my ancestors; they are my guides."
