Chapter 1752, Section 385: The Succubus Priest
"understood."
Annan lowered his voice: "Ah..."
"Don't mention his name. His name is imbued with a sense of perception, and if anyone mentions it, the demon will know it."
Annan's expression was grave: "Is it that serious? What exactly has Albek been contaminated with?"
"I don't know. Aside from official business, I won't have any contact with him." Prince Aidan indicated that it was best not to even discuss it. "Have you thought about what you're going to do?"
"Follow the Chaos Cult, and then you know, until I figure out what's really going on in the far north, that's when I, the legendary investigator, will have achieved my goal!"
"I mean, what position will you be assigned?"
"Oh." Annan suppressed his excitement. "Have you been to any places with a lot of wounded soldiers?"
"You? Taking care of the wounded?"
Prince Aidan thought Annan would go to places with lots of women... but he never expected that this guy would be even worse than he imagined after becoming a succubus.
"As a succubus who can control her emotions, isn't making the wounded happy a form of care?"
Prince Aidan didn't care what Annan was going to do: "I know, it won't be long."
We've covered most of the important business; now it's time for personal matters.
"Aidan, you said I was right back then, do you still think so now, or has your opinion resurfaced?"
"Is it important?"
"It's not that important, but I'm curious."
It seems unimportant; whether Aidan is a friend or an ally makes no difference.
Prince Aidan slowly began to speak of things he had never had the chance to say before: "I was born into a royal family with strict rules, where everything is planned out. How long you should sleep each day, how many inches you should take each step, the meals you eat each day are arranged in a specific combination, and the timing of your meals is precise, because your schedule has already been planned."
"The range of your tone of voice when speaking to different people, and even how to smile, will put a mask on your face so that you remember the angle of your smile."
As he spoke, Prince Aidan flashed that perfect, warm smile again.
Can you imagine having someone watching your every move, every smile, and every chew?
"It's utterly morbid."
The kingdom's illness was more serious than Annam had imagined.
His own comment, "The worst order is better than the best chaos," seemed to have a somewhat condescending tone.
“Sick? I like that word.” Prince Aidan murmured, “This country is sick, very sick. If the Abyss is the Abyss of Chaos, then my country is sliding into another Abyss.”
"So you're so desperate to use external force to break all of this?"
"It's not that noble. Maybe I just enjoy the thrill of transgressing the rules."
“I understand.” Annan nodded.
It seems they might one day become adversaries again? But at least they're no longer enemies.
Prince Aidan rose, and Annan's gaze involuntarily fell on the distance between his legs as he took a step.
"But I also know that if absolute order is a cesspool, then absolute chaos is another cesspool."
Prince Aidan's words caught Annan off guard, then a smile appeared on his face. Prince Aidan's efficiency was always evident; he had once set a record of bombing ten times in a single day in the Elven Gardens. Soon, Annan got the job he wanted: taking care of the wounded.
The Chaos Cult would treat the wounded—something Annan hadn't anticipated; he had assumed that seriously injured people would simply be left to die.
That said, an organization is a symbol of order, and the Chaos Cult is also an organization, so does that mean... the Chaos Cult isn't chaotic enough?
It's okay, my arrival will make up for that.
……
Paley was an incredibly wicked fellow. From a young age, he would step on ants and throw stones at cats and dogs. As he grew older, he transferred his malice to people, luring children to the mountains and locking them in haunted huts or throwing them into packs of dogs that had been starving for days.
The reason he wasn't killed was because Perry had a noble father and he only bullied commoners.
Locals call him Little Devil or Son of the Devil. Relying on his father's influence, he does all sorts of bad things as he grows up.
This wasn't just ordinary bullying of men and women; all his actions stemmed from pure malice. For example, he would snatch away a virgin who was about to get married, throw her into a doghouse in heat, and then kidnap her fiancé to watch over her, just to enjoy the despair and pain of others.
One day, a passing paladin learned of this and stormed into the Paley family manor. He killed the guards and servants and stood before Paley, about to kill the little devil that the townspeople feared, when the real demon appeared, severely wounded the paladin, and took him away.
A demon appeared out of nowhere and told Perry that it admired him, that he was chaotic by nature and evil to the core, and that it was a waste of his talents to stay there. Why didn't he go and do something big with it?
And so, unable to return home, Paley had no choice but to join the Chaotic Cult, leaving behind his past petty escapades to pursue truly significant matters—
What could possibly shake his brain more than causing a ruckus in the capital of the Thirteen Supreme Kings?
Paley and the other chaotic cultists were responsible for setting fires and creating chaos on the perimeter. Because the Inquisition was deliberately lenient and they were just a bunch of small fry, they were intentionally ignored—Paley was injured because he was unlucky enough to have his leg broken by an out-of-control carriage while fleeing.
Although it was somewhat embarrassing, everyone proudly held their heads high when talking about the piss they had shed on the face of the empire.
Inside the hospital room, Paley and his cronies joked and laughed, reminiscing about their past glories.
Annan listened for most of the time outside, until someone went out to use the restroom and saw Annan standing outside the door: "Who are you?!"
Annan entered the ward, and the three of them fell silent.
Even though succubi are demons, they can still frighten these ordinary believers who aren't even elites.
“I’m a priest here to treat the injured. I overheard some conversation just now, and it’s clear you’re all highly skilled, especially you.” Annan looked at the “little devil” Paley on the hospital bed. “You’re so naughty, but I like this kind of bad boy.”
The three of them stared at Annan's strangely handsome face and swallowed hard.
Are you all patients?
The three of them nodded together, then the other two quickly shook their heads: "We're not..."
"It's a real shame that I can't treat you," Annan said regretfully.
Paley's two friends suddenly had a brilliant idea: "Let's go get sick right now!"
"Then could you give me and the wounded some private space?" Annan asked with a smile.
The two of them pushed each other as they left, turning back every few steps. Annan turned and closed the door, then walked towards Perry.
Are you ready for treatment?
goodong...
Paley swallowed again, his body inexplicably hot: "I...I haven't tried it yet..."
"It's okay, there's a first time for everything."
