Chapter 1783, Section 416: Praising the Devil

Chapter 1783, Section 416: Praising the Devil
Annan didn't know if the guy shot the arrow first and then drew the target or if he just guessed, but he definitely guessed correctly.

"Are you from Liberty City?"

“That’s right, I will obey the Legion Commander’s orders.”

Annan's embarrassment lessened: "Which legion commander?"

"Uh, it's Lord Fermi."

Annan's eyes instantly turned cold: "Evelyn is in charge of the intelligence department in Free City. Who are you?"

The bard was immediately flustered.

“Let me speak, Annan.” At that moment, the Four-Armed Bee Demon walked up from behind.

"Damn devil, this was all your scheme?! I knew you rotten-ass devils loved playing these dirty tricks!"

"Can you let me identify myself before you start cursing..." The Four-Handed Bee Demon changed his voice with a hint of helplessness.

Upon hearing the familiar female voice, Annan's eyes widened instantly: "Beldonna?!"

"Shh..."

The four-armed bee demon, or rather, Beldona, gestured for Annan to be quiet, dismissed her minions who had been disguised as bards, and sat down.

"Weren't you in the Abyss? How did you end up in the Prime Material Plane? Is this your real body?" Annan kept asking questions while touching Beldona all over.

Berdona swatted away Annan's groping hand and whispered, "Something happened..."

"Tell me quickly, I love long stories the most, the longer the better, preferably tens of thousands of words!"

Berudona looked at her strangely.

She wasn't a bard, so she couldn't keep stretching out a story that could be explained in a few words to scam money. She simply recounted her experiences in the abyss.

Originally, Beldona was stationed at the Devil's Fortress behind the battlefield, constantly inquiring about the six-armed serpent demons for Annan, and had identified one of the six-armed serpent demons who was serving as the front-line commander.

Using her family's influence, the demon severely injured the six-armed serpent demon during an assassination attempt, almost bringing the human back. Beldona, unwilling to let such a good opportunity slip by, persuaded the fortress commander to take the initiative, disguising herself as a demon to launch a sneak attack... only to be forcibly conscripted by the demon lord Targalos, who was recruiting extensively at the front lines, and sent to the Prime Material Plane.

And so, she stumbled upon the prime material plane by sheer accident. Returning the way she came was unlikely; demons always treated deserters as food. But since she could get back from Free City anyway, Beldona wasn't in a hurry. Besides, she'd heard there was a six-armed serpent demon in the far north, so she disguised herself as a four-armed bee demon, a lower race of the six-armed serpent demon, and waited for her chance.

Instead of the six-armed serpent demon, they encountered Annam himself.

"Is your superior officer a relative of yours?"

Having caused so much trouble, yet still alive and kicking, how could Annan forget that devils are such an easy-going race?

Beldona nodded, looking at the Abyss Demons crammed into specially designed chairs like a small mountain on the other side of the hall.

"My superior also wants to see you."

Annan followed Beldona to the Abyss Demon, who grinned, revealing a mouthful of crooked, rotten teeth: "Annan Reeves, I've heard so much about you."

"Actually, I've long admired you..." Annan said modestly.

"Oh? Who am I?"

"Uh……"

Annan glanced at Berdona, who chuckled and shrugged, indicating she wouldn't help. Annan could only smile and say, "You are Berdona's elder."

"I also want to thank you for your tolerance and care for the immature Berdona for so long."

Annan spoke as if he were the outsider.

The Abyss Demon let out another roaring laugh that shook its entire body, mocking Beldona: "No wonder my little niece is so concerned about your affairs."

Annan had a knack for winning over elders; he could easily please the Abyss Demon with just a few words.

Annan pressed his advantage: "Do you have any news about female gray-haired rats?" The Abyss Demon, who had just been laughing, instantly turned gloomy, letting out a low, thunderous growl.

“You’ve misunderstood. That gray-furred rat is my sister-in-law,” Annan explained, guessing the Abyss Demon had misunderstood. “Since you and Beldona are on the same side, I’ll tell you the truth…”

Needless to say, Beldona is an important figure, and since the Abyss Demon was willing to personally accompany Beldona to the Prime Material Plane, it means that he is also an extremely important elder to her.

Annan then explained the Rat King's plan, which was a nail planted inside the Ratmen, and might play a clever role at a crucial moment.

“And I personally transformed into a succubus to gather intelligence on the movements of the Chaos forces in the north.” Annan’s gaze was resolute.

Everyone who saw him said he was hands-on.

"Really?"

Berdona, however, saw through Annan's intentions: "Isn't it because of that six-armed serpent demon?"

Annan glanced at Berudona with a hint of reproach.

The Abyss Demon's expression softened: "You want me to deliver a message to it?"

No wonder he's Beldona's uncle; he's already made connections with the Macken ratmen.

Annan nodded quickly: "It would be best if she could come out and talk to me in person."

Despite their various connections, Annan had never met his sister-in-law.

The Abyss Demon agreed to make contact for Annan.

Annan was also told by Berudona to "come with me," and followed her to the kitchen, opened the trapdoor of the storeroom, and crawled into the cellar.

Annan raised the oil lamp, letting its light shine into the small cellar.

The walls were covered with runes that blocked perception and detection, but Annan's attention was drawn entirely to the mountain of gold coins piled up in the corner.

“I knew you needed money, so I kept all the money I earned from running the tavern here, intending to send it to you. I didn’t expect you to come here by yourself.” Beldona’s melodious voice came from behind.

“Beldona…” Annan murmured, his dark eyes reflecting the glittering gold coins.

"what?"

"Thank you," Annan said gratefully.

Berdona lowered her eyebrows gently: "I should also thank you. If it weren't for you, I would still be just a trainee devil."

Annan put aside the matter of being exploited and extorted by Berudona, put away the pile of at least eight or nine thousand gold coins, returned to the hall, and ordered a glass of juice.

Cheers to our friendship!

Annan manipulated the lustful demons at will, and so did Beldona, who manipulated Annan.
Belludona's arrival was like a divine intervention, resolving what was previously an intractable predicament.

If victory is built from countless small advantages, then Annan has now successfully tipped the scales in his favor.

Two days before the bloody battle, one afternoon, the Giant Beast Skeleton Tavern welcomed a special guest.

Wearing a cloak and being short in stature, it walked straight to the counter and asked Beldona, who was still playing the role of the four-armed bee demon, wiping the endless wine glasses: "You want to see me?"

Berudona guessed who it was, and pointed a finger at a distance: "It's not me, it's him."

The female gray-haired rat looked over and saw the succubus dressed as Annan. She walked over and said, "You are Olme, no more, no less?"

Clearly, she had found out something.

"puff--"

Berudona, who was eavesdropping, couldn't keep her expression down. When would she be able to hear that name without laughing?
