dead……
dead……
dead……
Parallax Morhal is dead.
This was not the first time he had faced death.
This was the end for Parallax Morhal; after experiencing so much, he met his demise.
According to the conventions of Emotion Spectrum users, the death of Parallax Demon Hal belongs to the Black Death Emperor, and all deaths within the Emotion Spectrum are under his jurisdiction. Therefore, Hal's body now lies in the Land of Death—no, it's more like dust than a body; Hal is utterly dead.
But at this moment, the powder from these corpses began to coalesce. They interlocked and reconstructed, creating the complete body of Parallax Morhal.
It is worth noting that Parallax Mohal in this timeline is Parallax Mohal from the Zero Hour period. His current decline is actually due to old injuries he sustained when escaping from the Hypertime Stream.
Therefore, he never actually experienced the major event "The Wrath of Genie A.E.", nor did he ever ride the Black Death Emperor and cleave Genie A.E.'s body in one slash, like Parallax Morhal in the main universe.
So at this time.
The complete body has been constructed.
look.
Everyone knew what was going to happen next.
Parallax Demon Hal Jordan opened his eyes, and a symbol of Black Lantern energy took shape in them. The symbol, belonging to Black Lantern, spun rapidly like a top in his pupils before settling.
In a pitch-black realm of death, a pale, eerie light shone.
shine.
Hal Jordan from Earth.
resurrection!
……
……
……
Papetua was getting fed up with the first Lantern. The other guy was like a flea jumping around in front of you; you could reach out and crush him, but you couldn't.
Can the reality of "Emperor Number One died at a certain point" be changed? Of course it can, as long as Perpetual can tolerate the fact that everything since that point has been altered.
But she couldn't do that, because the fact that Papetua came down from the Origin Wall happened after that point!
It's interesting, like pulling out two threads from a bunch of loose ends, only to be shocked to find they're connected, making you wonder if that was the original plan of the person who had you pull out the loose ends.
But regardless of the facts, all Perpetua can do is trap Genie I. Whether his and Superman's power comes from the backlash of the DC multiverse itself against Perpetua, or from the secret assistance of Batman Dragon, it won't change the final outcome... right?
"My child, draw the sword."
Then the first Lantern Hears what his mother said.
“It’s no use, Mother. It’s all over,” said the first Lantern, but he heard his mother’s voice.
"Don't worry, draw your sword."
It sounded like a silent war drum was beating, producing a thunderous roar.
The first Lantern Hears the buzzing sound coming from the far reaches of the sky, from the summoned, azure Earth 15 in outer space.
Then the blue planet began to turn green, and endless green light condensed outside the planet's atmosphere. What was going on? Parallax Mohal had clearly disappeared.
"Mother?"
The first Lantern turned his head to look at the phantom of his mother, and at the same time, endless white light burst forth from his chest.
The tiny spirit of existence that he had once stolen flew out of his chest at some unknown time. Even more remarkable was that the white lantern beast of this life opened its mouth and spat out a brand new black lantern ring.
As the first Genie saw the ring begin to twist and churn, flesh and blood surged, and soon a grotesque, skeletal-looking creature emerged from the countless black flesh growing from the base of the ring. Then, the twisted limbs began to reveal its true form, and the first Genie recognized it…
"William Hand?"
“Stealing your homeland from the Black Death Emperor’s realm of death is no easy task,” William said. “Do you think I could do this without my personal intervention? There will always be a price to pay—”
"And the price is Parallax Malfurion and Superman Supreme himself?"
“Uh… I was going to say the price was my effort, but okay, Parallax Morhal was too. But Superman Supreme was an exception.” William paused for a moment. “We all agreed beforehand that Superman Supreme would angrily throw a punch at Perpetua, unleashing power far beyond what Superman Supreme was capable of, like killing Perpetua with a single punch or something, but that didn’t happen. He was basically courting death; with that mindset, he couldn’t possibly throw a punch that could destroy Perpetua… Okay, he killed the World Forger before, so he was out of energy. But frankly, it still greatly disappointed us; we thought Superman Supreme would perform much better.”
"So you're just letting Superman Supreme go to his death?"
"What? No, no, no, buddy, death is never the end, you know that, don't you?"
The first Lantern Hero heard the other person say, "That is new life and hope."
The silent war drums were still thundering. The first Lantern saw the green energy flying out from the Earth 15 replica, shaping the images of millions of humans in the sky above the blue Earth. The first Lantern knew who those people were: the 700 million members of the Seaside City.
"What... or rather, what exactly does the Batman Dragon behind you want to do?"
"It's very simple. The replica Earth 15 will temporarily become your power. You don't think that the Black Death Emperor would obediently let billions of people go with just a tiny spirit, do you? The replica of your homeland has not been fully resurrected, but we see this as an opportunity to inspire you, an opportunity to fight alongside your homeland."
"Don't even think about it."
Perpetua's thunderous voice interrupted their conversation, and instantly a massive energy wave struck them. For Perpetua, the mother of the multiverse, to unleash such a laughable attack as an energy wave against two mere ants indicated that the battle between Batman Dragon and Perpetua over the transdimensional flow had begun to intensify, but this was certainly not Batman Dragon's own power…
Dr. Manhattan has made his move.
He would never watch Papetua kill Batman Dragon with brute force. What he wanted to see was the evolution of the DC multiverse itself, not a player far superior to others slaughtering everyone else like chickens and dogs.
He maintained a perfect balance for Batman and Dragon, keeping them evenly matched but not allowing either Perpetual or Batman and Dragon to gain the upper hand—this attitude was so condescending that it nearly enraged Perpetual.
If she were in control of the entire system, Dr. Manhattan would never be able to suppress her so easily, let alone be so leisurely as to support a puppet like Batman Dragon to fight against her. This would be an utter disgrace!
Regardless, Perpetua was no longer able to retaliate against the actions of Genie E1. After calming down slightly, Perpetua did not continue his hasty attack on Genie E1, but instead stopped and prepared for a truly lethal attack.
"Earth and the replica of 15 have not been fully resurrected. You are somewhere between the energy of the White Lantern and the Black Lantern, and are barely accepted by the Black Death Emperor. As soon as the White Lantern energy supply stops, you will immediately return to the Black Death Emperor's side, but before that, you still have a chance to help the first Lantern Knight."
William Hand quickly said, "The sword in the hands of the first Lantern was forged by the World Forger using countless metals from the DC multiverse. Except for the lack of X metal, it has almost all the metal elements. But right now, this sword is not enough to harm an enemy of Perpetua's caliber."
He turned to look at the mother of the first Genie: "I'm sorry, but I really have to force you. Whether you like it or not, you're already dead anyway. Make a little more contribution to the DC multiverse, and it will also earn you a chance to be resurrected."
"No! Wait! You did all this without my permission! How dare you arrange everything for me like this, even if what you're doing can really help us achieve final victory? Haven't you thought about failure? You..." The first Lantern Knight said this, and then he heard William Hand's voice.
"Yes, Batman did consider failure, and he did consider whether it was appropriate to arrange everything for you without your consent."
He paused, then continued, “Let me convey to you again the apologies of Batman Dragon, Batman’s apologies. He’s sorry for using you, for controlling you.”
But Batman doesn't care.
He told the first Lantern, "You'll get used to Batman's ways."
"Mom, wait a minute—"
"Time is running out."
The first Lantern felt a gentle hand caressing his cheek. He heard his mother's voice, even though it wasn't his real mother, and both of them knew it. But neither of them ever mentioned it.
Is this a genuine conversation with his mother, or is he simply shedding tears in front of a movable portrait of her deceased mother?
This is a philosophical question, and the first Genie doesn't like philosophical questions. He's spent his whole life chasing the resurrection of his homeland, and he doesn't want to hear those philosophical stories.
He was very old. Extremely old.
But he just waited there helplessly, waiting for his mother, just like when he was a child.
"don't want……"
“Be strong. The universe is always a much grander topic.” The first Genie heard his mother say this. “I have been studying this topic for many years.”
The mother, or rather, a replica of her mother, stood tall and proud, one hand gently stroking the forehead of the first Lantern Knight, the other cupping her mouth in a megaphone shape—
"The vast universe..."
Then her figure disappeared, as if she were sucked in by something, and went straight into the sword in front of the No. 1 lamp.
"No! Mom!"
The first Green Lantern shouted, then he looked up and saw on the distant horizon, countless souls from the replicated Earth-15 rising up with Green Lantern energy, and together with the 700 million Green Lantern ghosts of Seaside City, they were drawn into his sword like birds flying into the forest!
……
……
……
The death zone.
Parallax Mohal strolled before countless enormous tombstones.
Then, amidst the countless indistinct tombstones, he saw a shadow.
Hal realized who he had met.
"Dad? I... I didn't come here to see you, I..."
Hal saw his father standing amidst countless tombstones.
The cold mist enveloped his father's clothes like a tide. The sky was overcast, and the shadow standing in the middle of the tombstone was sometimes blurry and sometimes clear, but Hal knew that it was the other person's face that Hal had recalled countless times in his dreams during the countless years since the other person's death, the other person's face in his memory.
“I know,” Parallax Mohal heard his father say.
"Dad, I..."
“I know what you’re looking for, child. I just want you to know that I’m proud of you, and your mother and I both think so.”
"Wait, Dad... Dad! I'm so scared! For so many years, I've missed you so much, not for a single moment. I..."
Parallax Demon Hal quickly approached his father, but then Hal's father, who was standing in the tombstone, gradually turned into a white light.
"What you're looking for is right there."
He pointed Hal in a direction, and Hal watched him disappear.
He seemed dazed.
“Dad?” he said.
There was no response, which is to be expected.
"...I missed you too."
Hal abruptly raised his head, unsure whether the voice was his imagination or reality. Becoming a black-light corpse slightly interfered with his brain, making him less lucid.
He proceeded in the direction his father had indicated, and after an unknown amount of time—perhaps to the bottom, perhaps millions of years—he saw a coffin standing tall among the many coffins in the death zone.
"..."
Parallax Mohal wants to find his father, but he knows he can't see him now.
“Alright, Black Death Emperor,” he said.
Parallax Morhal reached out and punched the chains of the enormous coffin.
Nothing happened.
So Hal reached out and the energy of the black lamp gathered in his palm, beginning to take shape.
This is outrageous. I've never heard of black light energy being able to shape weapons or anything like green light energy.
But Hal did it; he thought he could do it, and so he did.
He had intended to get an axe, but the black light energy condensed into a scythe in his palm. Well, more or less, the Grim Reaper's scythe.
He swung his sickle at the chains, and they snapped in two.
Then he found something that looked like a keyhole under the chain, and then he realized that the hole was pointing directly at the black light ring on his hand.
"Oh, I'm so stupid."
He said that, and the next second, he clenched his fist with the hand wearing the ring, aligning the ring perfectly with the keyhole!
