Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 15 A twist in the road

Chapter 15 A sudden turn of events
At noon, in the duty hall of Zhongshan Police Station.

"Ring ring!" Chen Shu, who was sitting at the front desk and dozing off, took out his phone and glanced at the screen.

Oh, old acquaintance.

"Achoo! Zeng Jiao, what is it?"

"Come to my office."

"it is good."

After putting down his phone, Chen Shu ran to the police mirror to tidy himself up, looking around and touching himself as if he was missing something or hadn't done something right. Then he jogged over to the instructor's office.

Zhongshan Police Station Instructor's Office
Zeng Hong held a white porcelain teacup with blue and white decorations in his hands, the lid gently tapping against the rim, his expression grave. He knew that as long as he revealed the information he had just received and then relaxed his stance slightly, the young man before him, though impeccably dressed in his police uniform and fully equipped, and with dark circles under his eyes from staying up all night, would undoubtedly rush back to the front lines without hesitation, even if it was no longer his responsibility.

When Chen Shu first came to the station, he was a complete slacker, and Zeng Hong had nagged him a lot over the years. Now, however, he has become a well-dressed and handsome officer.

Perhaps to ease his lingering emotions, he tried to crack a joke, saying playfully, "Little Shu, I thought I wouldn't see you today."

"Professor Zeng, you said it yourself, so I'm really leaving now," Chen Shu joked with a smile, seemingly not treating Zeng Hong as a superior at all.

As he spoke, he plopped down in a chair, picked up the freshly brewed tea on the table, and drank it down in one gulp.

"That's not how you drink tea," Zeng Hong said, watching Chen Shu gulp it down in one go, and couldn't help but start lecturing him again.

"Pull yourself up." For some reason, Chen Shu found Zeng Hong's frowning, lecturing expression particularly amusing.

He finished his drink, put down the cup, wiped his mouth, and asked with a smile, "It works well, good tea. What can I do for you?"

"Ahem, were you busy this morning?" Zeng Hong underestimated Chen Shu's shamelessness. His lips twitched, and he almost choked. He could only change the subject.

"Thanks to the leader in charge, the morning was peaceful and quiet. Achoo!" Chen Shu, having succeeded, also took a step back appropriately and gave the leader a small compliment.

As a grassroots police station, the busiest department is the emergency response team, which handles thirty to forty calls a day, without fail except during the Spring Festival. Therefore, any moments of leisure are extremely rare.

"No, I'm not used to you doing this." Zeng Hong quickly waved his hand and said, "Let's get down to business. Li Meng from the Criminal Investigation Department just sent me some information. I printed it out. Take a look." As he spoke, Zeng Hong took a printed A4 sheet of information from his desk and handed it to Chen Shu.

Chen Shu took the documents, opened them, and saw that they were materials related to Liu Yan's kidnapping case. The first page contained information about the vehicle used by the kidnappers.

After reading it once, Chen Shu closed the document and closed his eyes, still feeling unsatisfied.

After waiting for Chen Shu to finish reading the materials, Zeng Hongcai said slowly and meaningfully, "This morning, Xiao Li did as you said and reorganized the materials you prepared last night, and then sent them to the Criminal Investigation Department. Not long after, Ren Da sent me this material on WeChat and asked me to agree to transfer you to the special task force."

After saying that, he looked at Chen Shu meaningfully and sighed with a hint of regret: "But it seems you're on duty today, right?"

Chen Shu snapped out of his daze and suddenly understood. He stood at attention, then bowed slightly, and said to Zeng Hong with a grin, "Instructor, I'm sick, so I'm taking the day off. Achoo!"

"Look, he really sneezed!" Chen Shu exclaimed with delight.

"Have some shame! You're so young and your health is already so poor! Go home and rest properly. Come back to work when you're better." Zeng Hong waved his hand, his words full of disdain, practically screaming "Get lost!"

"Received!" After giving the clear instructions, Chen Shu immediately turned around and ran downstairs. He was quick and efficient, not at all like someone who had taken sick leave.

"Take your gun!" Zeng Hong couldn't help but remind Chen Shu as he was about to disappear from sight.

"Roger that!"

"This drive is like I'm in a rush to be reborn. Sigh, I still have a ton of things to do."

Zeng Hong stood by the office window, looking down as Chen Shu and Zhu Chaoran, dressed in plain clothes, quickly disappeared through the police station gate.

He grumbled as he walked to the cabinet in the office, opened the cabinet door, put on his long-unused police gear, and finally put on his peaked cap before slowly walking towards the duty room.

"Wow! You're still going strong for your age."
