Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 344 Temporary Inspection by the Inspector

Chapter 344 Temporary Inspection by the Inspector

At 10 p.m., Dongming Road was still bustling with traffic and people.

The Zhengming District Special Police Brigade, located next to America City, was peaceful. Except for the guardhouse and the fifth floor of the office building, which were still lit, the rest of the place was pitch black.

A black sedan slowly drove to the street corner. Before the car had even come to a complete stop, a young man got out of the passenger seat and ran to the gate of the special police brigade. He glanced inside a few times, took out his phone, and snapped a few photos of the guardhouse inside.

After a series of actions, he ran back, opened the car door, and climbed into the passenger seat.

The driver tacitly turned the steering wheel and made a U-turn. Sitting in the back seat was a first-class police superintendent in uniform. He looked through the car window at the SWAT team's encampment and asked, "Is anyone inside?"

The young man handed the phone he had taken the photo to the police officer sitting behind him.

"Officer Deng, there's only one auxiliary police officer inside, and he's sleeping on the table."

The officer referred to as Officer Deng was Deng Xiaochao, a police officer from the branch's police supervision team. His eyes were shining, and he was secretly looking forward to it.

"Did it get filmed?"

"They're all on my phone."

Deng Xiaochao grinned, thinking that it was worth it to have chosen a day when Chen Shu was on duty to come and inspect.

This period coincided with the opening of the 18th day of the lunar calendar in the northern city, and the bureau required all units to arrange standby police officers to guard the gatehouses as a precaution. For such a large public security bureau, this was a trivial matter, so much so that no one was assigned to make a phone call to notify them.

The person in charge simply posted the notice on the internal network and that was it. That said, grassroots units are already short-staffed; everyone's trying to make the most of every officer, so who would want to waste resources here?

This is just a formality to fulfill the spirit of the superiors' meeting; it's been done this way for many years, so privately everyone just goes about their business as usual.

Unless someone deliberately makes a big deal out of nothing.

Deng Xiaochao gave a cold laugh and waved his hand: "Alright, let's go back and do the normal check-up. Hehe, these indicators came pretty easily."

Just after the Chinese New Year this year, he finally managed to transfer from the complaints center to the business team after much effort. After getting familiar with the inspection work for a few months, the team assigned him a quota according to regulations.

The inspectors' target is to investigate and punish police officers.

After the car reached an intersection ahead, it turned on its left turn signal and slowly made a U-turn, returning to the vicinity of the SWAT team. However, this time it did not choose to stop in the corner.

The car stopped directly in front of the brigade.

Deng Xiaochao, who was sitting in the back seat, got out of the car and walked towards the guardhouse of the special police brigade. The young man in the passenger seat got out of the car again and ran inside after him.

When Deng Xiaochao arrived at the gatehouse, he saw a man wearing a special police training uniform lying motionless on the table, with the words "Special Police" clearly visible on his back.

He patted the glass without any politeness.

The auxiliary police officer inside woke up, looked up and saw two people standing outside, one of whom was still wearing a police uniform. Startled, he opened the glass window and politely asked:
"Which unit are you from, and what brings you here?"

Deng Xiaochao ignored him completely, his tone quite aggressive: "Why aren't there any police officers in the guardhouse? Where are the officers on duty? Where did they all go?"

The auxiliary police officer was taken aback. He'd been guarding the gate of the special police unit for so many years, but he'd never heard of any rule requiring a police officer to stay in the guardhouse. He'd heard that in the entire Dongzhou City, only the Municipal Public Security Bureau assigned a police officer to the guardhouse.

Even the auxiliary police officers at the gate have their own circles; they won't be intimidated by a few words. Besides, there really is a police officer here!

Guaranteed replacement if fake!

"Yes, yes, he's inside. I'll call him over right now." With that, she left the dumbfounded visiting police officers behind, ran up to the small loft upstairs, and shook Chen Chuan awake, who was also fast asleep on the sofa.

"Officer Chen, a policeman has come downstairs. He's looking for you."

Chen Chuan stretched, turned off the mobile game interface that had been on, and followed the auxiliary police officer down from the attic.

He barely made eye contact with the policeman standing outside the window, but the man didn't say a word and simply turned and left.

"Huh? They're gone? These days, the police are under too much pressure, and every now and then a few weirdos will emerge from the ranks."

Chen Chuan commented dismissively.

"Zi"

"Chen Chuan, what's that policeman downstairs doing here?"

Chen Chuan picked up the walkie-talkie from the table and pressed the call button: "I don't know. He said he was coming to see me, but he left as soon as I came down from the attic. What a weirdo."

"Oh, then let's leave it at that. I ordered some takeout, all Sichuan cuisine. When the delivery guy brings it over, could you please bring it to the duty room so we can all eat together? Oh, and there's a plate of fried noodles in there, for the security guard."

"Alright. Shu, you really are a soldier trained by the instructor, you're top-notch!"

Deng Xiaochao climbed back into the car, muttering under his breath: "What kind of idiot is this? Putting a policeman in the guardhouse is such a waste of manpower! And this policeman is a moron! How can he be so obedient! Shouldn't he go back to his dormitory to sleep when he's on night duty? Instead, he's sitting obediently in the guardhouse! What a complete fool!"

The young man sitting in the passenger seat felt somewhat embarrassed. Their trip was to check whether various units had arranged standby police officers in the guardhouse as required by the notice.

“Officer Deng, shall we check with other police stations? This quota should be easier to catch,” he suggested cautiously.

"What's the point of investigating? Are you just waiting to be yelled at and insulted? Go back to the station!"

The taciturn driver turned the steering wheel, and the black Santana sped away.

Over here, Chen Shu and the special police duty team were enjoying a hearty meal together around a desk piled high with Sichuan dishes.

Dishes like boiled beef, twice-cooked pork, shredded pork with garlic sauce, hot and sour shredded potatoes, and stir-fried bok choy, while not as visually appealing as those in restaurants due to being packaged in disposable plastic containers, are just as delicious in terms of aroma and taste.

Chen Chuan, with beef stuffed in his mouth, was quite enjoying himself as he gestured with his chopsticks.

"Books, I think our SWAT team is pretty good too. Putting everything else aside, their nighttime snacks on duty are quite good, it's lively with lots of people."

Chen Shu understood what he meant. When police officers from the municipal bureau were on duty, usually only one officer from each unit would remain on duty. In such a large building, there might only be one officer on duty.

It's not bad, because some people like this kind of peace and quiet. It's not good either, though; someone like Chen Chuan, who loves excitement, would definitely feel stifled.

"You're talking nonsense. Everyone knows that no one from your city bureau is on duty at night. Once it's 10 p.m., they all run away faster than thieves!"

A large, fat man stared intently at the dishes on the table, his hands and mouth constantly moving.

Chen Chuan thought back to the times he would occasionally go to other floors to look for people after 10 o'clock, and it seemed that this was indeed the case!

I thought they had all gone to their dorms to rest!
These bastards! Apparently, he's the only idiot in the entire municipal bureau who's obediently staying at his post on duty!
In a fit of anger, Chen Chuan stuffed a few more large pieces of meat into his mouth.
