Police officer Chen Shu
Chapter 355 Shooting Practice at the Shooting Range
Chapter 355 Shooting Practice at the Shooting Range
Early summer, SWAT team compound.
Chen Shu got out of the car and stepped onto the steaming cement ground, as if he had stepped into a heat wave.
After a morning of scorching sun, the cement floor was estimated to be 40 or 50 degrees Celsius. Under the blazing sun, Chen Shu wished he could fly into the cool office.
Upon reaching the third floor and opening the office door, a cool breeze blew out of the room.
Secretary Chen breathed a sigh of relief, walked into the office, and slapped Chen Chuan, who was sleeping on the sofa, awake.
"It's past ten o'clock, still sleeping?"
Reeking of alcohol, Chen Chuan wiped his face, sat up, stretched, lit a cigarette, and complained, "It's not even dinner time yet, why did you wake me up?"
Chen Shu laughed: "You're openly sleeping in the office during work hours, and you still think you're right? Don't cry when the inspectors catch you!"
"Anyway, I'm a staff member of the Municipal Bureau, and it won't deduct points from your brigade's score, so why are you in such a hurry? By the way, Li Da just came over to see you." Chen Chuan pouted.
"Okay. By the way, we're going to the shooting range this afternoon. Do you want to come along? If you do, go to the armory and find a gun that suits you."
According to the special police's gun regulations, each officer is usually issued one gun. Chen Chuan, who is naturally undisciplined and no one in the brigade can control him, has not yet been issued a gun, even though he joined the special police brigade half a month earlier than Chen Shu.
Chen Chuan hurriedly threw away his cigarette butt, stood up, and pulled Chen Shu along as they walked outside, saying, "Come on, come on, this time you have to help me pick out a good gun! I think the reason I couldn't shoot accurately before was because of the gun."
"Stop, stop, stop."
Chen Shu pulled his arm out of Chen Chuan's arms and pushed him away: "Xu Mingliang is on duty today, let him choose. He's an old SWAT officer, more reliable than me. I need to go to Li Da's office now."
After shooing Chen Chuan away, Chen Shu quickly walked to the captain's office not far away.
Li Da, who was engrossed in reading the newspaper at his desk, saw Chen Shu enter and, with a beaming smile, grabbed the newspaper from the table and stood up to greet him.
"Chen Shu, look at this newspaper, it's so well written!"
Who still reads newspapers these days? Chen Shu took the newspaper and saw that the headline on the front page was about their special police brigade.
"Since last year, in response to changes in the public security situation, the Zhengming District Public Security Bureau has focused on key contradictions, prioritized risk-based policing, and actively developed the central urban area with the Special Police Brigade as the vanguard."
"Focusing on the Yangyi Street Patrol Brigade, we have established close collaboration between the brigade and local authorities, and have simultaneously guided and intervened in eight particularly serious incidents, including emergencies, major incidents, armed incidents, and homicide incidents, to jointly address security hotspots and difficult areas."
"A special police force that is exceptionally politically sound, exceptionally disciplined, exceptionally hardworking, exceptionally dedicated, and exceptionally capable of fighting has truly been built."
Chen Shu put down the newspaper and waited with a smile.
As expected, Li Da recounted with great enthusiasm the scene of attending the meeting at the Special Police Detachment that morning. During the meeting, the detachment leaders specifically mentioned the Zhengming District Brigade's active cooperation with the street offices to jointly build a patrol team, and stated that the Provincial Headquarters had also recognized their achievements and would soon send a deputy senior official with department heads to conduct research.
Over the years, Li Da had always been the target of criticism whenever he went to meetings at the brigade headquarters. This time, he finally got his revenge.
He is really happy.
After saying that, he patted Chen Shu's shoulder hard, expressing his gratitude to this benefactor of the special police brigade.
"What VIP? I'm just one of the team." Chen Shu smiled and then said, "By the way, Li Da, I'm taking the brothers to practice shooting this afternoon. We need to improve our skills, but we can't let our training suffer."
Li Da nodded vigorously, giving him an expression that said he was completely in charge of everything in the brigade. His job was simply to attend meetings and show off. "Hey? Chen Shu, where are you going to practice shooting?"
Li Da suddenly realized that apart from the shooting range at the Dongzhou Police Academy for a few days during the annual training camp, there was nowhere else to practice shooting.
Chen Shu smiled and didn't hold back: "When I was in the detachment before, I found that they all went to the armed police to practice shooting. I guess the detachment leaders must have some connections with them."
"Well, Xu Mingliang from our First Squadron has been with the brigade for over ten years, so he must have connections. That's why I asked him to ask around in the brigade. And he found someone right away."
Li Da casually cursed, "That brat, he's been here all these years and hasn't said a word to me! Let him compete in the next tournament! No amount of pleading will change his mind!"
From the provincial-level special police brigade down to the Dongzhou City special police detachment, a large-scale skills competition is held annually within the system. The competitions are diverse, ranging from high-tech events like robotic bomb disposal and drone search and rescue to traditional firearms and physical fitness contests.
This is an internal competition within the special police system. Except for the firearms event, which can only be participated in by police officers due to the requirement of a gun license, the other events are usually attended by auxiliary police officers from the brigade.
However, because they always came in last place, the team members became unwilling to participate in the competition.
The Dongzhou Armed Police Detachment Training Base, open-air firing range.
Having made prior arrangements with the Armed Police detachment, Chen Shu and his entourage were able to smoothly enter the open-air firing range within the training base in two vehicles.
The shooting range is quite large; Chen Shu roughly estimated it to be about two or three hundred meters long. This distance allows for training with submachine guns, rifles, and even sniper rifles, in addition to standard pistol shooting.
At the end of the firing range is a small hill, about several tens of meters high. The targets are placed at the foot of this hill, with their backs against the hillside. This location was chosen to prevent safety accidents in the event of stray bullets being fired accidentally.
Xu Mingliang skillfully directed everyone to park the car in a specific location, and then arranged for Zhang Qing and others to go to the warehouse next door to retrieve the shooting tools, such as targets, target paper, punching paper, and glue.
The target was simply a handmade wooden frame riddled with bullet holes. The target paper was a new half-body ring target, with the ten-ring mark located in a fist-sized area around the chest.
The punching paper and glue are used to cover the bullet holes on the target paper after a round of shooting, so that they can be reused.
Generally, pistol training consists of two methods: precision shooting at 50 meters and rapid shooting at 15 meters.
In reality, for police officers, this kind of precision shooting at 50 meters with no time limit is completely useless and too impractical.
Who would stand motionless fifty meters away, waiting for the police to slowly observe them?
Instead of wasting time on this, we might as well just send someone to rush up and force his head down.
However, the problem is that the precision shooting and rapid shooting events are determined according to the annual competition events, so training is still necessary.
Standing on the grass, Chen Shu watched the police officers busily working and felt a little itchy to try his hand at it. He walked over to Xu Mingliang and asked for some bullets, intending to practice his skills later.
It has been a full eight years since the last use of the Type 92 pistol.
He loaded the bullets one by one into the magazine, then shoved them into the gun handle with a "click." Chen Shu took a deep breath, feeling the slight coolness from his palms, and a long-lost sense of satisfaction welled up inside him.
