Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 64 Waiting for Wang Li

Chapter 64 Waiting for Wang Li
The observation room next to the interrogation room.

After hanging up the phone, Chen Shu leaned back in his office chair, staring at the LED lights on the ceiling without saying a word.

Zhu Chaoran, who had followed Chen Shu into the room after he answered the phone, was now standing by the door of the observation room, unusually refraining from his usual joking and playful banter.

He knew that Chen Shu had fallen into his soft-hearted trap again.

But this is something they have no choice in.

"Fatty, go to our dorm and get two blankets for the detention room. It's autumn now, and it gets cold at night."

"Okay, Brother Shu. I'll get right on it."

After Zhu Chaoran left, Chen Shu was the only one left in the observation room. He sat up straight and looked at the monitor next to him.

Judging that the interrogation was almost over, he picked up his cane and, leaning on it, made his way to the door of the interrogation room next door, waving to Liu Zhongwu a few times.

After Liu Zhongwu walked out of the interrogation room, Chen Shu gently closed the door: "Brother Liu, I just got in touch with Wang Li. He might come to our station to turn himself in soon."

Liu Zhongwu nodded, knowing that Chen Shu still had something to say.

Chen Shu hesitated for a moment, but continued, "Wang Li is also a minor. So I think you shouldn't mention the knife wound I was cut in their statements."

Liu Zhongwu nodded, not surprised. It was perfectly normal for Chen Shu to say something like that.

Stealing electric bicycles is a crime;

Adding the fact that he attacked the police with a knife, that's adding insult to injury.

"It's best not to mention the knife again. Well, you can handle that yourself. I'll sign the statement later."

Liu Zhongwu laughed: "Chen Shu, don't overthink it. The other suspect hasn't arrived yet, has he? I'll handle it once he's brought to justice. Don't worry."

Now it was Chen Shu's turn to feel embarrassed.

He scratched his head and added, "Brother Liu, now that you've finished taking the statement, could you please take Li Yishan to the row of seats by the entrance of the duty hall? I'll sit there."

Liu Zhongwu looked puzzled, but perhaps because it was late at night and he was too tired, he didn't delve into it. He nodded and opened the door to enter the interrogation room.

Having explained everything, Chen Shu, leaning on his crutch, slowly hopped towards the entrance of the duty hall.

As he passed the front desk, he casually picked up an extra serving of fried rice noodles, then jumped to a few rows of seats near the entrance of the lobby and sat down in the middle of the first row.

By this time, the lights at the front desk had been turned off, and the dispatcher, Xiao Wang, had laid out a makeshift bed on the floor behind the desk and gone to sleep. In the entire duty hall, only the area around the row of seats near the entrance still had a light on.

About ten minutes later, Liu Zhongwu and Zhu Chaoran brought Li Yishan, who was handcuffed, to the entrance of the duty hall.

Liu Zhongwu handed the transcript and pen to Chen Shu.

Chen Shu didn't even glance at it; he simply signed his name below Liu Zhongwu's signature on each page of the transcript. After signing, he handed the documents back to Liu Zhongwu.

"Brother Liu, thank you for your hard work. You should go and rest first. I'll stay here with Li Yishan and wait for Wang Li."

Watching Liu Zhongwu leave, Chen Shu asked Zhu Chaoran to unlock Li Yishan's handcuffs and arranged for him to sit next to him, near the door.

Zhu Chaoran looked troubled: "Brother Shu, isn't this against the rules?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Shu raised his still-good right foot and gave him a feint kick, laughing and scolding, "You've only been in the office for a few months, and you're already talking to me about rules? When you're hiding in the office playing on your phone all day, why don't you talk to me about rules? Hurry up and untie him."

After saying that, he took out his phone from his pocket and put it in Li Yishan's hand along with the fried rice noodles he had just gotten from the front desk. He said casually, "You'll probably be staying inside for a while tomorrow. If there's anything you need to tell me or anyone you need to contact, take care of it now."

Li Yishan showed a grateful expression, took the phone and fried rice noodles, and began to eat them heartily.

"Eat slowly, this is getting a bit cold. Eat a little something first to tide you over. I also ordered takeout, it'll be here in a bit."

Chen Shu looked at Zhu Chaoran, who was standing to the side yawning, and said with a smile, "Fatty, did you take both blankets into the cage?" "Yes, I took them both. I even told the person with glasses that they were reserved for the two of them."

Chen Shu nodded: "Then go upstairs and rest. I'll call you if anything comes up."

"okay!"

Zhu Chaoran didn't stand on ceremony with Chen Shu and turned around to run upstairs.

The once bustling and lively duty hall suddenly fell silent.

Chen Shu leaned back gently on the plastic chair, tilting his head slightly upward to look at the flickering incandescent light above him, somewhat lost in thought.

After a while, the sound of people going down the stairs came from the stairwell again.

Chen Shu turned around, somewhat curious about who was coming downstairs.

Zhu Chaoran rushed over and sat down beside him in a few quick steps: "Brother Shu, I heard you order takeout just now?"

Chen Shu was taken aback for a moment, then smiled: "Yes, they should be here soon."

"okay!"

Upon hearing this, Zhu Chaoran sat down next to Chen Shu, took out his phone, skillfully opened the app, and started playing Honor of Kings.

"Fatty! Didn't you just have two bowls of fried rice noodles and a bowl of beef soup for your midnight snack? Are you eating again now?"

A teasing voice drifted from below the front desk.

Zhu Chaoran was somewhat annoyed: "Go to sleep, or you'll get a deadly thirteen-call later!"

"roll!"

Chen Shu felt somewhat helpless, but he felt that Zhu Chaoran was probably worried about him being alone downstairs after getting injured. The fat man, despite his seemingly careless appearance, was actually quite perceptive.

In fact, many fat people are underestimated.

The three sat on rows of plastic chairs at the entrance of the duty hall on the first floor, each doing their own thing and waiting quietly.

Half an hour later, Zhu Chaoran, who had been staring at the entrance of the police station, suddenly rushed out like a hungry tiger pouncing on a sheep. His movements were swift, decisive, and unambiguous.

Why are you running so fast! You might scare them away!

Chen Shu thought it was Wang Li who had arrived, so he leaned out and peeked outside.

A Meituan delivery rider in a yellow jacket handed four servings of egg and pork rib noodles to Zhu Chaoran, who was drooling and looking impatient.

Zhu Chaoran stared at the plastic bag containing the food, stretched out his hand, and hurriedly thanked them. As soon as he received the food, he turned around and ran back to the duty hall.

At this point, he seemed a bit more generous and distributed the three bags to everyone.

Zhu Chaoran called out to the receptionist in the inner room, "Wang Houzi, I know you're still awake. Come over and have another bowl! We might get a lot of calls coming in later!"

"You're such a foul-mouthed person!"

The dispatcher, Xiao Wang, muttered curses under his breath, but still nimbly walked over and took the noodles from Zhu Chaoran's hands.

Chen Shu was a little surprised. Although he had specially ordered an extra portion to save for Wang Li, the situation had changed a bit too quickly, and there probably wouldn't be enough noodles.

He smiled as he watched the noisy scene before him, gently setting aside the unopened noodles in his hand.
