Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 666 Not a Child Anymore
Station monitoring room.
The scene of Abudu, Aikber, Xiao Cao, Jiang Hai, Yan Chenxi and others chatting together was projected onto the largest display screen in the center of the monitoring room.
"Could we zoom in a bit more? Let's take a screenshot of the man and woman's faces, check their backgrounds, and see if they might be the people meeting here," someone suggested.
“This camera is only zoomed in this much; it can’t do facial recognition. I’ll check other high-definition cameras to see if there are any clearer ones,” another person added.
Chen Shu stepped forward and said in a deep voice, "I know these two people. The man is Jiang Hai, a student at the Provincial Police Academy, and the woman is his older sister, Yan Chenxi, the deputy director of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau."
After this explanation, everyone put aside their doubts. After all, no matter how powerful someone is, it's impossible to suddenly have someone of that status in your grasp across thousands of miles.
Director Wang waved his hand and said, "Alright, let's proceed according to the original plan."
Everyone relaxed and continued watching the surveillance footage.
However, Chen Shu, who was originally calm and composed, was stunned by the sudden turn of events.
For the other police officers involved in the operation, the appearance of the two individuals was merely a reasonable and unexpected situation, with little to no impact on the overall operation, and therefore not a top priority.
But it was different for Chen Shu. Yan Chenxi and Jiang Hai were his good friends, his juniors, and real people who lived and worked around him. Their laughter, their efforts, and their every move had been genuinely shown to Chen Shu.
To other police officers, the two groups chatting together wasn't a big deal; at most, it was a kidnapping. In fact, kidnapping was considered a good outcome, as only two people were affected.
But Chen Shu's mind kept replaying the scene from back then, and the pitiful woman who was brutally dismembered in the Yiwu Hotel room.
The current situation makes it difficult for him to remain calm and analyze the situation or take action.
The saying "concern leads to confusion" perfectly illustrates this point.
"Book, come out and talk."
Chen Chuan suddenly appeared out of nowhere and tugged at Chen Shu's sleeve.
"How did you get in?" Chen Shu was taken aback, but still followed Chen Chuan to the outside corridor.
Chen Chuan wiped his nose and chuckled, "Something this fun has to be done, I have to sneak in and see what's going on."
Double entendre.
With something on his mind, Chen Shu wasn't in the mood for jokes with Chen Chuan, but his reaction was quick, and he immediately said, "You want to go to Yan Chenxi's place?"
Chen Chuan took out a cigarette from his pocket, poured one out, and gestured with his chin toward the monitoring room: "This kind of hero-saves-the-damsel situation is something you should be doing. But I reckon you, the commander, can't leave right now. Well, I, the errand boy, have to step in."
"Thank you."
"Your thanks, from a mere deputy section chief, are worthless. You'll have to get Director Yan to thank me later. I've heard that every girl in their Science and Technology Bureau is an intellectual beauty."
Listening to Chen Chuan's rambling, Chen Shu gratefully patted Chen Chuan on the shoulder, his previously tense thoughts now clearing up.
Chen Shu nodded silently and said calmly, "No need. Give me your phone, I'll use yours to call Yan Chenxi. I don't want this one, I'll take yours, the one you use specifically to pick up girls."
"You don't have ulterior motives, do you?" Chen Chuan's mouth dropped open, as if he had just realized something.
"What kind of time is this to be joking? I was just worried that using your own phone would cause Yan Chenxi to have a bad reaction, after all, we're both police officers." Chen Shu spread his hands.
"What if?" Chen Chuan frowned and raised his hand to touch his chin.
"There's no 'what if'." Chen Shu looked directly at the other person, his gaze steady. He was confident that he wouldn't alert the enemy.
Chen Chuan's brows relaxed, and he joked, "What if Director Yan's number happens to be on my little phone?"
"Get lost! What time is it? Hurry up and give it over."
Chen Shu took the phone, returned to the monitoring room, stood in the corner, and dialed the number.
Just as he pressed the call button, he realized that the call hadn't been made through his contacts; he had simply dialed Yan Chenxi's number from memory.
While I was lost in thought, the call connected.
"Hello, who is it?"
Chen Shu steadied his breathing, looked at the monitor screen, and quickly said, "I am Chen Shu. Don't speak yet. Don't move, don't move your head, don't move your eyes, just keep watching that building."
"Okay, very good. Now don't say anything, just listen to me. The three men standing next to you are dangerous. Find a good reason to leave them, be quick, but also careful. Understand?"
After hanging up the phone, Chen Shu still stared at the screen with some worry, only breathing a sigh of relief when Yan Chenxi left with her younger brother with a smile.
After straightening his police uniform, he squeezed back into the front row.
All of this was coldly observed by Zhang Zhongzhen, the captain of the special police assault squadron, who was standing in the corner.
"Humph."
Passenger station.
See you next time! See you next time!
As Jiang Hai was being pulled by his sister toward the light rail station, he turned around and stretched out his arms to say goodbye to the three Wei friends who had come from distant XJ.
Once the two had walked away, Jiang Hai shook off his sister's hand and complained, "Hey, sister, why didn't you let us chat a little longer? Didn't we agree to take a taxi together? They're going to Xinyue Residential Area, which is on our way."
"Sis, I'm not saying taking the bus is bad. You know, our school is currently holding a Newcomer King subject competition, and the research project I'm working on requires some interaction with the locals."
Yan Chenxi glanced back at the way they came, and seeing that no one had followed, she smiled and said, "You even took a taxi together. Do you know anything about these three people?"
"What could they possibly have to offer?" Jiang Hai, who was about to retort, suddenly snapped out of his daze. "Sis, who called you just now?"
"Brother Shu, they told us to stay away from those three Wei clan members. They must be fugitives or something." As she spoke, Yan Chenxi looked back again, and only when she saw that there was still no one behind her did she truly feel relieved.
"What does my brother-in-law mean? Oh, sister, why are you pinching me!"
Jiang Hai jumped up and slapped away Yan Chenxi's hand that was pinching his waist.
Yan Chenxi, hands on her hips, reprimanded, "What brother-in-law nonsense! Nothing happened between me and Brother Shu. You can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want. Hey, I'm talking to you!"
"Sister, Brother Shu is spying on us—no, he's spying on those three Wei clansmen."
Jiang Hai's eyes darted around in his glasses, his mind racing.
A fugitive? Things aren't that simple!
It's obvious that the brother-in-law is monitoring everything in the vicinity from somewhere. The fact that he was willing to risk being discovered by calling his sister in front of the suspects and urging her to leave immediately indicates that this group is definitely extremely dangerous.
The Wei clan and extreme danger—these two factors combined make the answer obvious.
Jiang Hai immediately gave a "YES" and turned around excitedly to run back, but his sister grabbed his collar.
"What are you going to do? Go with Brother Shu to catch fugitives?" Yan Chenxi, who had raised him since he was a child, vaguely guessed his younger brother's purpose.
Jiang Hai grinned and said ingratiatingly, "Sis, don't worry, I'm just doing some research. You know, I came back from the police academy specifically to do research."
Yan Chenxi interrupted, "Let's go home first."
Jiang Hai knew he couldn't disobey his sister, so he nodded and obediently followed her to the light rail station. He waited for the two of them to board the train one after the other, and then, just as the light rail train doors were closing, he darted out.
"Sister, I'm just going to do some research, I'll be home in a bit!" Jiang Hai waved through the transparent glass outside the train.
The city's high-speed train slowly started moving, and Yan Chenxi stomped her feet in anger inside.
A younger brother cannot help his elder sister.
She took out her phone to call Chen Shu to ask him to look after her younger brother, but then she remembered that he was at his busiest time, so she put her phone down.
Sitting in the brand-new seats on the train, I for some reason thought of how my brother and I had solved many cases with Chen Shu over the past two years.
Jiang Hai, who was abandoned by his teachers and classmates at school, managed to get into the provincial police academy by sheer determination inspired by Chen Shu.
All things considered, he's practically a policeman now.
He's no longer a child; it's time for him to take on the responsibility of serving the people.
"Xiao Hai."
Yan Chenxi looked back with a mixture of worry and anticipation.
