Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 907 The sooner the better

Chapter 907 The sooner the better
After Ma Rongcheng's explanation, everyone understood a little better.

"Teacher Ma, what is the purpose of this commander? What does he do? How can he help us?" Although he didn't understand what the commander's purpose was, Jiang Hai knew that he could stay by Chen Shu's side again.

Ma Rongcheng was stunned for a moment, then spread his hands and said, "To be honest, I don't know either. We'll go ask Sister Ying later. She works in foreign law enforcement, she's a professional."

Xiao Wang chuckled and said, "What are you thinking? It means exactly what it says. Didn't our Deputy Commander Ling announce earlier that the two countries would launch a joint operation? Northern Myanmar will be divided into different operational areas according to the region, and a joint operation team will be established in each area. The head of this operation team will be the commander."

"Wow, Brother Shu can even command those Burmese police officers? That's so cool! He's almost as powerful as the chiefs of Interpol!" Jiang Hai said with shining eyes, imitating the action of police officers in movies taking out their badges from their pockets to show people when they are on duty.

The movies and TV series he watched at his age made him think that Interpol was the most powerful police force in the world, and that the officers were like gods, with the power to conduct transnational law enforcement and command local police, and could arrest criminals anytime, anywhere.

Actually, that's not the case. This organization usually just serves as a meeting place and coordinates among its member countries. Its members are indeed official police officers from their respective countries, but they are not the elite agents who can scale walls and leap across rooftops as depicted in the movies.

They are all high-ranking police officers from their own countries. For example, the only Chinese officer in Interpol is Deputy Chief Ling. He is the only one who holds a position in the organization, and there are no others.

The same applies to other countries; each member state only sends one police officer, so the entire organization has a maximum of two hundred people.

As the world's second-largest international organization, these two hundred people are busy coordinating the interests of various countries, holding meetings and listening to reports every day, and can't even find time to travel.

Not to mention flying all over the world to investigate world-class criminal cases like in novels, that's impossible.

Most importantly, they have no law enforcement power in most countries, except for a few world powers that can command smaller countries.

However, their legitimacy does not stem from Interpol, but rather from the hard power of their powerful homeland.

"Chen Shu, congratulations!" Sister Ying walked over with a smile, carrying a black briefcase. "Deputy Commander Ling has appointed you as the captain of the Dalalin Regional Joint Action Team. Let me give you a heads-up, among this batch of captains, you are the youngest, and the lowest in rank and position. It's hard not to attract attention."

Chen Shu stared at the briefcase in Ying Jie's hand and casually said, "Sister Ying, surely I haven't been targeted by Deputy Director Ling?"

Yingjie covered her mouth and chuckled: "Deputy Director Ling is busy with meetings every day, how could he have time to care about this? He is the Executive Director of our Yunnan Province, Director Dong. There will be a celebration banquet tonight, and high-level officials from both China and Myanmar will attend, not only the police, but also the embassy will send people over."

Chen Shu raised his head and looked directly at her: "Sister Ying, you know I'm not interested in these things right now."

Yingjie nodded and advised him as someone who had been through it all: "Chen Shu, I understand how you feel right now, but you need to know that some things can't be rushed. The more anxious you are, the more likely you are to run into problems."

Ma Rongcheng continued, "Officer Chen, listen to Sister Ying. The reason you were appointed as the commander this time is because Sister Ying recommended you to Director Dong. Otherwise, you would hardly have had this opportunity."

Upon hearing this, Chen Shu understood somewhat.

As a police officer from Donghai Province, being appointed as the commander in this joint operation between the two countries, which was based in Yunnan Province, even if it was just one of many law enforcement teams under the coordination center, must mean that someone was pushing for it behind the scenes.

Otherwise, why would they let a policeman from Donghai, who was unfamiliar with the area, squeeze in and get an extra set of chopsticks?

Furthermore, given the current situation, taking on this role as commander would definitely be more beneficial than harmful to his efforts in rescuing Zhang Yang and Xiao Zhao.

With limited personal power and the aid of a massive state apparatus, anyone with a modicum of common sense knows which choice to make.

"Sister Ying, I want to leave early." Chen Shu shook his head, still refusing. It wasn't that he didn't understand the theories of the workplace, but after experiencing so much along the way, he was no longer the naive Chen Shu he used to be. "Ha, I knew you had this stubborn streak." Sister Ying pulled a stack of documents from her briefcase and handed it to him. "I've already taken care of the paperwork for you. Go early and come back early. I wish you... I wish you a successful start."

"Thank you, sister."

Chen Shu took the document and quickly flipped through it.

The first document was very simple; it was an appointment document for Chen Shu, the commander of the Dalalin Regional Joint Law Enforcement Team, the kind with an official red seal.

The document is in two languages: Chinese and Burmese.

The document was filled with official language, and later there were some documents signed in Burmese, all of which were agreements between local officials and armed groups.

"Chen Shu, when do you plan to set off?"

"The sooner the better."

Chen Shu closed the file bag, looked up at the kind and understanding older sister, and said sincerely, "Thank you, sister."

Yingjie was having a hard time.

“Okay, I’ll arrange a vehicle and the accompanying Myanmar police officers for you right away. It should take about two hours. In the meantime, you can just follow that officer in the green uniform around here. If you’re not comfortable, you can also go to the hotel room next door to rest. It won’t be that quick. I still have a lot of things to take care of right now, so I’ll be going now.”

Sister Ying came and went like the wind, waving her hand and disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Chen Shu originally wanted Jiang Hai to stay with Ma Rongcheng at the police station to broaden his horizons, but after discussing it, none of them were interested in joining the Yunnan provincial delegation for a visit and exchange at the police station.

Returning to the hotel was the only option, but not to rest. Instead, we went to retrieve the luggage that the driver had taken earlier. Two hours later, we would head to northern Myanmar.

Following the information provided by Sister Ying via WeChat, the group went to a hotel not far from the police station. Along the way, everyone was preoccupied with their own thoughts and did not speak.

According to locals, this is a tourist street, mostly frequented by tourists visiting Myanmar, and it's very bustling.

The hotel that Sister Ying mentioned was easily spotted by Jiang Hai from afar, even amidst the vast crowd.

Of course, it wasn't that the hotel's sign was particularly eye-catching; it was mainly the row of pickup trucks with thick, straight, black pipes parked in front of the entrance that looked too exaggerated in the city.

Under the watchful eyes of a group of Burmese soldiers in green uniforms, Chen Shu and the others learned, after providing the information given by Sister Ying, that their luggage had been placed in their rooms.

After taking the elevator to the eighth floor, the receptionist told us that this entire floor was occupied by Chinese police officers.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, there was a squad of soldiers standing in the corridor, all carrying guns. Two of them, crouching in the corner, were holding heavy machine guns.

"Hey, bro, how are you guys?"

One of the soldiers, with dark skin, waved to them and greeted them in fluent Chinese, though upon closer listening, he could even detect an accent from some part of northern China.
