When Captain Zhang heard that He Wenyuan had escaped, he immediately drove over. When he saw the chaotic scene, he was furious.

"That He Wenyuan hid a car in a nearby farmhouse, and you all didn't know!"

"Team Leader Zhang, we didn't expect He Wenyuan to be so cunning, hiding a car in the house. Besides, we didn't have the authority to search that farmhouse!"

"You're still trying to argue!" Captain Zhang was furious and about to yell at someone when a colleague ran over.

"Team Leader Zhang, we've found He Wenyuan's car."

"Great! Have they caught him yet?" Captain Zhang asked excitedly.

"We only found the car, not the people!"

"What? Damn it, she still got away?" Captain Zhang said angrily.

When Captain Zhang led his men over and saw the car that had driven into the ditch, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

"Team Leader Zhang, when we found the car, He Wenyuan was already gone. But strangely, it seems the car went out of control and drove into the ditch on its own!"

Captain Zhang carefully inspected the car, and when he saw that the lock on the passenger side rear door had been pried open, he was immediately shocked.

"Something's not right. The car lock has been pried open. Judging from the situation, someone must have been hiding in the back seat all along."

“Who would be hiding in the car?” a young police officer asked.

"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?" Captain Zhang rolled his eyes.

"However, judging from the traces at the scene, someone must have been hiding in the back seat. When He Wenyuan was driving, he attacked her from behind, causing the vehicle to lose control and plunge into the ditch!" Captain Zhang said, stroking his chin.

"Could it be the boss He Wenyuan mentioned?"

"That's unlikely. If they were in cahoots, why would they hide?" Captain Zhang said thoughtfully.

“That person was carrying a grown man, so he couldn’t have gone far. He must still be nearby. Let’s search!” Captain Zhang said confidently.

Then the police launched a thorough search, looking everywhere in the area where people could hide, but they still couldn't find anyone. Captain Zhang was starting to doubt his own assumptions.

After daybreak, Captain Zhang asked his colleagues to continue the search while he drove to the safe house.

Captain Zhang suspected that Wang Gang had taken He Wenyuan away. However, when he drove to the safe house, he saw Wang Gang carrying a washbasin as he came out of the house, seemingly going to wash up.

"Did anyone go out last night?" Captain Zhang asked the police officer protecting Wang Gang's family.

"No, we didn't sleep all night, we took turns keeping watch. No one left or came yesterday. Master Liu's family went to sleep early and didn't get up until dawn."

Master Liu got up the latest and just came out.

Captain Zhang looked puzzled, feeling that things were getting increasingly complicated.

He greeted Wang Gang, then went to interrogate Zhou Yan, hoping to extract some information from her.

However, when Captain Zhang arrived at the detention center, he learned that Zhou Yan had already been sent to the hospital.

Late last night, Zhou Yan bit her tongue when the guards weren't looking.

Captain Zhang was really worried now and rushed to the hospital.

The doctor told Captain Zhang that Zhou Yan was found too late and had lost too much blood, so it was hard to say whether she would wake up.

Captain Zhang punched the hospital wall, feeling that all the clues had been cut off.

Over the next few days, Captain Zhang led his men to search for He Wenyuan's whereabouts while waiting for Zhou Yan to wake up in the hospital.

A week passed, but He Wenyuan could not be found, and Zhou Yan remained in a coma. Captain Zhang guessed that He Wenyuan might have successfully escaped, and that the last phone call he made to Zhou Yan must have contained a code, which is why Zhou Yan committed suicide without hesitation.

After Wang Gang and his family stayed in the safe house for a week, Captain Zhang let them go home, but still sent people to monitor Wang Gang and his family to prevent He Wenyuan from showing up.

He Wenhui later went to see Wang Gang once, seemingly also wanting to know He Wenyuan's whereabouts, but was scolded away by Wang Gang, and the two never crossed paths again.

A month later, seeing that things had calmed down, the police withdrew their protection of Wang Gang's family, and life seemed to return to normal. However, Captain Zhang would sometimes bring his colleagues to "Wisteria Mansion," intentionally or unintentionally inquiring about He Wenyuan from Wang Gang.

Wang Gang felt that Captain Zhang had a keen intuition, as he was able to suspect him. However, without any evidence, and with Wang Gang pretending to be ignorant, Captain Zhang was helpless.

Three months passed in the blink of an eye. Captain Zhang was busy with other cases and gradually came to "Wisteria Mansion" less often.

Wang Gang's restaurant is doing very well, and he is already looking for a storefront to open a branch.

That day, Wang Gang was in his office checking accounts when Liu Zi suddenly came over.

"Master, a connoisseur has come to table number six and wants to try your soup-filled yellow croaker."

"Why don't you just do it?"

"I did it, but the customer wasn't satisfied," Liu Zi said embarrassedly.

Wang Gang put down his pen and asked, "Who is this person? Are they here to cause trouble?"

Liu Zi scratched his head and shook his head, saying, "He doesn't look like it. That man was wearing a suit, which didn't look cheap. He doesn't seem like a chef."

Wang Gang stood up and said, "Let's go take a look."

The master and apprentice walked out of the office and into the lobby. Wang Gang noticed a man in his thirties sitting at table number six. He looked quite imposing, wearing an imported suit and sporting a slicked-back hairstyle, much like Chow Yun-fat.

"Master, it's him. He ordered a whole table of our signature dishes, but he wasn't satisfied with any of them. He even said that the yellow croaker I made in soup was too fishy," Liu Zi said, pointing at the man.

"You go back to work, I'll deal with him," Wang Gang said in a low voice.

Wang Gang walked to table number six. The man there had ordered a whole table of dishes, but hadn't touched a single one; he was just drinking tea.

When the man saw Wang Gang approaching, he said directly, "Master Liu, your dishes are just so-so!"

Wang Gang frowned slightly and asked, "Do you know me?"

The man laughed and said, "I've heard of it, but I've never seen it."

Wang Gang then asked, "May I ask where you heard of my name?"

The man smiled and said, "I have a god-sister who has always thought of Master Liu."

Wang Gang's expression hardened. He pulled up the chair opposite the man, sat down, and said, "Is your sworn sister surnamed He?"

The man didn't answer; he simply took a sip of tea.

Wang Gang carefully examined the man and found him to be quite special, somewhat out of place with the people around him.

How should I put it? The man's appearance and demeanor were very different from the ordinary diners around him; he seemed to belong to a completely different era.

"Are you not satisfied with the food in my restaurant?" Wang Gang asked tentatively.

The man said, "This soup-filled yellow croaker is too fishy. Does the chef who made this dish have no sense of taste?"

Wang Gang raised an eyebrow and said, "What would you like to eat, sir? As long as I know how, I can make it for you."

The man chuckled and said, "Midnight Diner?"

Wang Gang's face twitched, and he said, "May I ask your esteemed name?"

The man stared into Wang Gang's eyes and said, "My name is Long Aotian. May I ask your name, Master Liu?"

When Wang Gang heard the name "Long Aotian," the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

"Liu Hongchang".

Long Aotian laughed and said, "Is Master Liu really named Liu Hongchang? I doubt it!"

Wang Gang retorted without backing down, "So, is your real name Long Aotian?" (End of Chapter)
