Chapter 1602 Night in the Park
Chapter 1602 Night in the Park
What park could Han Li describe as one of the safest areas in New York?
That is New York Central Park, which covers more than 340 hectares and has more than 9,000 meters of waterways. It has many facilities such as forests, lakes, pastures, zoos, gardens, ice rinks, swimming pools, sports fields, theaters, squares, and lawns.
Central Park in New York officially opened in 1873, but it wasn't until the 60s that the park began to gain recognition.
By the 1970s, New York’s Central Park had become a venue for events of all sizes.
For example: political gatherings, demonstrations, celebrations, and various concerts, plays, acrobatics, solo shows, etc.
It was from that time onward that New York Central Park gained the reputation of being New York City's green heart and backyard, and became a famous landmark of New York City, just like Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building.
Nights may be chaotic and dangerous in many parts of the United States, but the honor of the Beacon of Freedom and the daily shootings is not earned out of thin air, but is demonstrated through real achievements.
However, it is absolutely safe in the wealthy areas of the United States, where there are police cars patrolling day and night, as well as community security and personal bodyguards.
Aside from affluent residential areas, the next safest areas are iconic landmarks with significant influence, such as Central Park, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and Broadway.
These areas are patrolled by ample police force, and unless there is a particularly serious or sudden incident, there is generally no danger in visiting these areas before midnight.
The Plaza Hotel where Han Li stayed was located on the south side of Central Park. The two places were separated by only one road, so it wouldn't be a problem for him to stay there until midnight and then go back.
When Han Li entered the park, it was the time when the streetlights were turned on, and all the streetlights in the park and on the streets lit up in a very short time.
Looking at the night lights of the skyscrapers surrounding Central Park, and then at the lights interspersed among the lush trees in front of him, Han Li felt a sense of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle.
When Han Li first entered the park, there were already some people jogging and walking around. These people were dressed and made up in a relatively formal manner.
However, as Han Li got closer to the sounds of musical instruments and cheers, the clothes of the people in front of him began to look strange.
Han Li learned from their conversations that they were the latest trendsetters, breakdancers, hip-hop musicians, and alternative artists in the United States.
Some of these people carry musical instruments and performance props, while others, lacking such talent, simply carry a double-cassette recorder, ready to dance on the spot when they press play.
Weather permitting, these people would go to Central Park almost every night to showcase their talents and personalities, hoping to make a name for themselves or their team.
Or perhaps one day your talent will be discovered by a discerning tycoon, granting you better resources, a better stage, the pinnacle of your career, and the life of extravagance that comes with fame.
This is only natural; there are people in many parts of the world who dream of becoming famous overnight.
However, after hearing these words, Han Li's interest in the musical instruments not far away diminished considerably.
Because these people talk a good game, saying how amazing and innovative their talents are.
However, Han Li did not believe that among these people who couldn't even gather all the equipment, another John Lennon, or another Beatles, could emerge.
[John Lennon: Former member of The Beatles, shot and killed in 80 near the Big Kota Building in New York. His ashes were buried by his wife in Central Park.] Thinking of this, Han Li decided to visit the place where John's ashes were buried. So he walked towards a roadside stall selling ice cream and cold drinks, intending to buy an ice cream and ask for directions.
To Han Li's surprise, when he arrived at the ice cream parlor, there was a large crowd gathered outside, all intently watching the television inside.
Han Li went over and saw that this cold drink stall also sold videotapes, magazines, and newspapers.
Han Li learned from the explanation on the blackboard next to him why there were so many people gathered there.
The TV is currently showing a videotape of a Hollywood actress named Jane Fonda demonstrating her workout routine.
It's worth noting that Jane Fonda is not only a multiple-time winner of the Hollywood Best Actress award, but also enjoys the title of "Goddess of X Liberty" in the United States.
According to a magazine report, this Jane Fonda was already...
After getting married, Jane Fonda, in an effort to keep her first husband, not only called him to find prostitutes but also helped him pick up girls on the street.
Most incredibly, Jane Fonda even called her stepmother, hoping she could join in.
Ahem, that's enough for now, I can't say any more.
Getting back to the point, Jane Fonda has starred in many sensual films and created many sexy posters. Regardless of her private life, in the eyes of many handsome American men, she is a sex symbol.
When Jane Fonda filmed this workout video, in order to achieve the best effect, she wore a swimsuit that used less fabric than a regular swimsuit, showcasing her figure perfectly and subtly with every movement.
This is why so many people are gathered here to watch; however, only a very short segment is being shown here, and to watch the full version, you have to pay to buy it.
However, many people watch it for free, but few people actually buy it.
Han Li did want to go up and buy one, but seeing so many people around him, and with the inherent composure of a Chinese man, even though they were all foreigners he didn't know, he was too embarrassed to say such a thing.
This little incident made Han Li forget about finding out where John Lennon's ashes were buried; he simply bought an ice cream and left.
New York’s Central Park is very large, and it’s evening now, which makes Han Li a little unsure where to go for a stroll.
Therefore, Han Li could only continue walking towards the direction from which the musical instrument sound was coming.
The scene was much as Han Li had imagined. It was a group of unknown but ambitious young people performing, and quite a few people had come to watch the spectacle.
Han Li bought two hot dogs and a drink from a nearby food cart, sat on the outskirts of the crowd, and ate while watching the young people performing in the middle of the venue.
Most of these people sang, and quite a few danced as well. Whether they were friends supporting them or just joining in the fun, the onlookers would give them enthusiastic applause and cheers after each performance.
While Han Li was eating and watching from the outside, a little girl came over and started selling things.
"gentlemen."
