Vientiane Throne of Civilization

Chapter 1976: Seeing the End at a Glance

Chapter 1976 A Sight to the End
"Carter! You actually know how to come back?!"

Almost at the same moment those words were spoken, Carter clearly felt a familiar, large hand grab the back of his neck, his destiny in his grasp.

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed his father, whom he hadn't seen for some time.

Before he could even say a word, his father, who had already sized him up, started complaining.

"Tell me what kind of rubbish you're wearing right now?!"

At that moment, Carter was wearing a baseball cap, a large T-shirt, shorts, and black sandals.

His entire outfit, from head to toe, was incredibly eye-catching in the Elf Forest, leaving Carter's father momentarily speechless.

Carter simply rolled his eyes at this.

"This is what you call trendy! This is what everyone in Dazhou City dresses like in the summer! Don't believe me? Look at Brother Jenny and the others!"

He was so focused on his son that he hadn't even noticed Jenny and the others were there if Carter hadn't pointed it out.

When Carter's father turned around, he immediately noticed that Jenny and the others were all dressed in similar outfits.

Unsurprisingly, from the elves' perspective, Carter and Jenny, dressed in outlandish clothes, became the focus of attention.

Carter and Jenny themselves didn't seem uncomfortable at all.

Before, they were like rural children who had entered the big city. Their time living in Dazhou had brought about a tremendous change in their mindset.

Putting everything else aside, the outfits worn by the elves in the territory right now, although many of them were bought from the Great Zhou Market, are all outdated styles and seem a bit tacky to them.

They didn't stagnate at the train station. Carter's father was at the train station at the moment, wondering whether he should take the train to Da Zhou to see his son.

Now that his son had come back on his own, although he immediately grabbed Carter by the scruff of his neck and gave him a lecture, he was still happy. He grabbed his son and headed home.

Although these rascals don't really miss home, now that they're all in the Elf Forest, there's no reason not to go back on the way.

After agreeing on a time to take the last bus, the elves went home one by one.

As Carter walked home, he looked around and could only say that nothing had changed at all.

The way you left is the same way you came back.

Back home, there were quite a few Da Zhou products in the house, mostly simple furniture.

Some of them were bought before he went out to work, and he didn't take them with him at the time, so he left them at home. There were also many that he hadn't seen before, which must have been added later.

Carter felt a little nostalgic to be back home after so long.

Of course, this is only a small part.

And this state lasted for less than an hour before Carter started to get restless.

"I'm going out for a walk."

After saying that, without waiting for her father's reaction, she ran out the door in a flash.

Before I had gone more than a few steps outside, I saw a group of elves gathered under a large tree not far away, listening to the elf in the middle talking eloquently.

"Let me tell you, the food in the restaurants in the city..."

Carter looked and realized, "Good heavens, isn't that my roommate?"

They were also his neighbors, living not far apart, and had grown up together since childhood.

Judging from this, this guy must have slipped out even earlier than him.

Their eyes met, and they immediately understood. Less than ten minutes later, they noticed another elf who had returned with them strolling over.

They don't even need to speak to each other; a single glance is enough for them to understand each other.

In short, it can be summed up in two words: boring.

In Da Zhou, it's no exaggeration to say that they have endless things to do on their days off; they can spend an entire day just browsing the food streets and shopping.

This week I'll stroll through the food street, next week I'll go shopping at the mall, and the week after that I'll go to a restaurant for morning tea and listen to a storyteller.

Over the course of a month, the programs on each day off were completely different.

If you occasionally miss nature, go to the nature park in the city center for a while. There are also teahouses in the park where you can enjoy the scenery while leisurely drinking tea.

In contrast, back in the Elf Forest, they sat at home with absolutely nothing to do, spending their time either daydreaming or sleeping.

But they can't stay idle on their one day off a week! In their view, it's such a waste.

However, going outside is just as boring. Looking at villages or towns that have hardly changed, the greatest pleasure is telling the village elves about their lives and experiences in the Great Zhou Dynasty, which is commonly known as bragging.

After experiencing the shock of big cities, the elves who returned to their villages and towns felt a huge sense of loss, which made them deeply understand what it meant to have a 'see-through' existence.

Life in the Elf Forest is something you can see the end of in a day; staying here, there's really no hope at all.

On the other hand, the people of Da Zhou were already very satisfied with the city they were in. According to the storyteller in the restaurant, the border cities in Da Zhou were generally poorly developed.

In other words, they actually stayed in the city with the worst conditions in the Great Zhou Dynasty.

As for other cities, since they were not citizens of the Great Zhou Dynasty, they could not go there. In the end, they could only listen to the storyteller's descriptions in the restaurants to satisfy their cravings.

At this point, a few individuals even directly quoted the storyteller's words verbatim.

Although he had never been there himself, he described it so vividly that the elves watching were completely captivated, and each of them couldn't help but yearn for the city of the Great Zhou.

During this time, Carter and his team kept track of the time in their minds and went home again before heading to the train station.

“Recently, the Great Zhou has started two major projects around the forest, which require many elves. If you ask me, you should stop working in the city and come back. It’s closer to home and more convenient.”

Back home, upon hearing that Carter was leaving, Carter's father couldn't help but start grumbling.

The meaning was clear: they wanted Carter to come back to work.

But Carter was far from willing to do that.

Refuse without even thinking.

"Okay, okay, I'll come back to see you next time I have time, and I'll bring you some local specialties. If you're ever really bored, you can take the train to the city sometime, it only takes thirty minutes, it's quick."

As Carter spoke, he moved to the doorway.

"That's it, I have to catch my train, I'm off!"

After saying that, Carter fled the house at almost breakneck speed.

It's entirely foreseeable that he definitely won't want to come back anytime soon.

In fact, the main purpose of Da Zhou arranging this station was not to allow the elves working in the city to return home at any time, but to allow more elves to go to the city to play even if they do not work there.

Only when the elves of the Elf Forest flock to the cities of their Great Zhou can the culture of their Great Zhou truly exert a comprehensive influence on them.
