Chapter 2011 Two Eyes, One Black
Chapter 2011: Dark Eyes
Dark Elf mages are primarily positioned as support characters; there are no mages who possess powerful offensive spells.
Little did they know, this was exactly what the Great Zhou wanted.
Anyone who has played even a little bit of gaming should know that support roles are always there while carry roles are constantly changing.
Units with strong functionality and support capabilities are often the most versatile and retain their value the most, and will not be immediately eliminated with version updates.
Currently, dark elf mages primarily master three mantra spells: 'Dark Spear', 'Blood Heal', and 'Biosensory'.
The 'Dark Spear' is a basic attack method for dark elf mages, so there's not much to say about it. It's dark in nature and, as always, comes with negative effects like corrosion and curses.
'Blood Healing' can be simply understood as a dark version of healing. When you are seriously injured, any skill that can keep you alive is a good skill!
Who knows, if you're left hanging, the medical team might arrive and you'll survive.
The final 'biosensing' was arguably the biggest surprise.
Simply put, this is equivalent to a biological radar.
Currently, the goblins in the Great Zhou possess rather rudimentary radio radar technology, capable of performing basic detection of some large metal objects.
However, probably due to the lack of advanced technology, the accuracy of this radio radar is currently limited, and it often makes detection errors.
In comparison, the 'Biosensory' spell, as a true word spell, has almost maximum accuracy in detecting living things within its coverage area; it can even detect a mouse underground.
The only drawback is that the detection cost is slightly higher.
The power supply problem for radio radar is easy to solve; it can be kept on for extended periods when needed.
However, as a spell, 'Biosensory' can only be cast once at a time.
At the same time, the coverage area of 'biosensing' is also closely related to the amount of mana consumed. The more mana injected during the casting process, the larger the coverage area of 'biosensing' will be. This is easy to understand.
Compared to this, the real problem is the recovery of mana after it has been depleted.
Even so, as things stand, the Dark Elf mages' 'biosensory' remains the most powerful detection radar in their Great Zhou Dynasty.
When used in conjunction with radio radar, they can complement each other's shortcomings.
From Wei Qing's perspective, the dark elf mages didn't need to use any other spells; their single spell, 'Biosensory Awareness,' was enough to secure their position in the Great Zhou army.
Generals like them, who have served in the military for many years and have actually fought in battles, know very well that a whole bunch of fancy tricks are useless. What you need is one trick that works for you!
Wei Qing and Eredar knew that this was just a formality, but the dark elf soldiers did not.
The dark elf mage managed to turn the tide, which made the dark elves look much better.
However, this means that the remaining Dark Elves will consist mainly of melee units.
On the Zhou side, there are very few proper melee units left, so in the end they can only rely on the Trapped Camp to provide support.
Without the slightest surprise, the Dark Elf spearmen were eliminated.
Next up were the Dark Elf Dark Warriors, considered the elite of Eredar's forces, whose representatives had reached the peak of the Hundred Refinements Realm. Given their strength, unless a Vajra Realm general intervened, winning in a battle of equal strength wouldn't be easy.
The Trapped Camp directly sent out a squad leader who was also at the peak of the Hundred Refinements Realm.
The two sides fought fiercely for dozens of rounds without a clear victor. In the end, Wei Qing took the initiative to call a halt, stating that "the Dark Warriors force will continue to be retained," thus bringing the battle to a close.
After the results came out, the relevant report was quickly delivered to Zhou Xu.
The survival status of the various Dark Elf units was basically in line with Zhou Xu's initial expectations.
The only issue where disagreement arose, and Wei Qing was unable to make a decision or even conduct a test, having to report it up and let Zhou Xu make the judgment himself, was the Dark Elf warship, the Black Sail warship he had seen before.
Previously, the Black Sail battleships were completely wiped out by Hydra's Delar.
To be honest, conventional technological civilizations don't really have many good ways to deal with sea behemoths like Delar.
Some people might suggest using torpedoes.
But can it hit? Think about what the main targets of torpedoes from conventionally technological civilizations are.
Hydra's speed and agility in the sea far surpass those of other creatures.
In fact, let alone the Dark Elves' Black Sail warships, Zhou Xu estimated that without a strong leader in charge, even their Great Zhou's newest warships would be doomed against the Hydra.
According to Zhou Xu's previous assessment, the overall performance of their Great Zhou warships was far superior to that of the Dark Elves' Blacksail warships.
In other words, if their Great Zhou warships couldn't do it, the Black Sail warships would be even less likely to do it, unless the other side had some trump cards up their sleeves.
Zhou Xu continued reading the report and found that it really was true!
Under normal circumstances, the wood needed to build the Black Sail warship must be spirit wood of sufficient age, at least three hundred years old.
The Black Sail warships they used before were just imitations, made of ordinary wood, not spirit wood at all, so the capabilities of the Black Sail warships were basically not utilized.
This "spiritual wood" refers to the wood produced by the Tree of Life.
This Tree of Life exists in their Great Zhou Dynasty, located on Green Water Mountain within Green Water Lake, and is currently being cared for by the Wood Elf clan.
Furthermore, the description of the Tree of Life states that its roots can be used to make staves, and its branches can be used to make arrows.
At the time, Zhou Xu hadn't really thought about what the trunk of the Tree of Life could be used for.
After all, there are less than a hundred life spirit trees on Qingshui Mountain, most of which are less than three hundred years old, and less than thirty of them are over three hundred years old.
The logical approach would be to take some roots and branches, while ensuring the healthy growth of the Tree of Life, for the crafting of staffs and arrows.
Who would think of cutting down the whole tree and using the trunk for something? Isn't that like draining the pond to catch all the fish?!
And now it seems that it really exists; the main structure was used to build Black Sail warships!
Good heavens! According to the original statistics, they only had seventeen life spirit trees that were three hundred years old. Even if they cut them all down, the processed wood might not be enough to build a Black Sail warship!
The thought of this made Zhou Xu feel dizzy.
However, Eredar also provided some good news: the Tree of Life exists in the Elven Forest, and there are quite a few of them. This is one of the main reasons why Eredar is so eager to return to the Elven Forest.
