Chapter 1527 The Two-Party War in Germany

Chapter 1527 The Two-Party War in Germany
1932 was an extremely dangerous year for most capitalist countries in the world, as the global economic crisis of 1929 had lasted for three years.

During the same period, unemployment rates in the United States and Germany soared, exceeding 20 percent, with the United States reaching as high as 25 percent. This meant that the poorest 30 to 40 million people in the United States had been struggling for nearly three years.

In other words, the United States is a vast country with abundant resources, and the lower classes can still maintain their basic survival needs through relief and begging. Otherwise, the United States would most likely have experienced a social crisis.

In contrast, the situation in European countries is not so good, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. Since the beginning of winter last year, Germany and Austria-Hungary have experienced several large-scale conflicts, and there have been countless small-scale protests and violent activities.

Berlin, Germany.

Berlin in 1932, as the most populous and economically concentrated city in Germany, was also the city that suffered the most severe losses in this round of economic crisis.

To date, the official number of unemployed in Berlin has exceeded 300,000. The large number of unemployed people, along with the activities of the Labour Party and the National Party, have turned Berlin into a "chaotic city".

Neukölln is a district in Berlin. In the 16th century, it was a village that developed in southern Berlin. As Berlin's industry developed and the population increased, Neukölln continued to expand.

On the eve of World War I, Neukölln officially became one of the administrative districts of the city of Berlin, Germany.

During the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, Neu-Cologne attracted a large number of workers and immigrants from Eastern Europe due to its cheap housing, becoming a well-known gathering place for low-income groups in Berlin.

After the outbreak of the economic crisis, the crime rate in Neukölln skyrocketed, and the city was in a state of turmoil every day, especially due to the conflict between the German Labour Party and the German National Party, which turned Neukölln into a "battlefield".

Labour Party members are holding a rally at the Bohemian Brewery in New Cologne.

Sher, the leader of the Red Front Alliance, stood at the table and made a loud appeal to the organization's members.

"Comrades, recently those henchmen trained by the German Imperial government, the National Party, have been attacking our strongholds like mad dogs and arresting our comrades in large numbers. We cannot sit idly by and wait to die. We should teach these lackeys of imperialism and capitalism a lesson."

The so-called Red Front Alliance was a paramilitary organization formed by the German Workers' Party specifically to oppose the SA (Storm Troopers) under the National Party. It was led by the Berlin Workers' Party, with Scheer as its direct leader.

Sher continued, "We'll show these lunatics, gamblers, drunkards, traitors... what the might of us staunch worker warriors is."

"Therefore, I have chosen my target this time. Tonight, our frontline alliance will take down the stormtroopers' stronghold in New Cologne, and let these scum, thugs, and social outcasts fully understand the price of being lackeys of imperialism..."

As soon as Sher announced his intention to take action against the Stormtroopers, the members of the Red Front Alliance at the Bohemian Brewery responded instantly.

"Those bastards deserve to be taught a lesson long ago."

"The Stormtroopers are a bunch of scoundrels and thugs, Comrade Sher, you should have made up your minds a long time ago."

"They are in cahoots with the police; they are a violent gang supported by the German government. They are working together in the same direction, and I've disliked them for a long time."

Schell waved his hands to signal everyone to quiet down, and said, "Comrade Thälmann has long been dissatisfied with this group of scoundrels, especially their various crimes against our fellow workers, and the blatant favoritism of the Berlin police."

"This demonstrates the corruption and hypocrisy of the current German government. They dare not openly provoke the anger of the vast majority of conscientious people, so they support the National Party to compete with us."

"Furthermore, under the coercion and enticement of the National Party's black glove stormtroopers, as well as various despicable means, the people dare not speak out for fear of being retaliated against."

"The purpose of our Red Front Alliance is to fight against this group of scoundrels and awaken the conscience and voice of our fellow Germans."

"We must let imperialism and its lackeys know that violence, intimidation, and threats will not make us submit."

Thälmann is now the leader of the German Labour Party, and his name is also Ernst; Scher is his loyal comrade-in-arms.

Therefore, this operation by the Red Front Alliance against the SA was clearly approved first by a meeting of the top leadership of the German Workers' Party, and then carried out by the Red Front Alliance, which was also Scher's task.

Sher said, "In this operation, we will fight violence with violence. The National Party does not have any martial ethics, so we do not need to naively talk to them about peaceful competition as we have in the past, because the National Party and the stormtroopers they have trained have shown their true purpose of being anti-workers and anti-fairness."

"They are the common enemy of all German workers, and their various criminal activities in Neukölln have long aroused the wrath of heaven and the people. I believe that as long as we dare to be pioneers and resist them, more people in Germany will join us in the future to save the whole of Germany."

"In addition, this operation must be carried out swiftly and before the police arrive, to prevent them from protecting those social scum of the riot squad."

Of course, not everyone will blindly participate in this operation based on Sher's words.

One member of the Red Front Alliance asked, "Comrade Scherr, we naturally support attacking the SA headquarters in Neukölln, but the SA is no less powerful, and they also have the support of the Berlin military and police. To what extent should we go? Should we consider the German government's opinion? What if we anger the German government and they send troops to suppress us? Would that worsen the situation and cause us losses?"

Scher was prepared for the doubts of some people. He said, "Comrades, you should give up your illusions. The German government has never been on our side. They are the behind-the-scenes supporters of the National Party and the SA."

"And their goal in supporting the National Party and the SA has always been the same: to eliminate us and prevent Germany from becoming like the Soviet Union, the homeland of the workers."

"Therefore, even if we don't provoke the German government, they won't let us go. Over the past few years, everyone should have a deep understanding of this. Why is it that every time the SA clashes with us, the German police side with the SA?"

“The SA members were even released two days after committing murder, while our people were either imprisoned or sentenced. This shows the collusion between the German government and the National Party and their attitude of wanting to kill us.”

“In the past, we also hoped to compete fairly with them, try to gain the support of the people, and finally take back the rights that belong to the people. But the facts have proved that the enemy has never had the idea of competing fairly with us.”

"They used violence first, so don't blame us, the Labour Party and the workers, for retaliating in kind!"

……

Like the Red Front Alliance, the New Cologne Storm's secret meeting place was also a factory, but due to the economic crisis, the factory has now gone bankrupt.

The original factory site was transformed into their headquarters in New Cologne. As a henchman of the National Party, the Stormtroopers, like the Labour-led Red Front Alliance, were shady organizations.

Although everyone knew they were backed by the German National Party (NNP), the NNP denied it, so there was nothing anyone could do. Furthermore, the German government turned a blind eye to the NNP's "private army," effectively making the SA (Storm Troopers) semi-public, a situation not afforded to the Labour Party's Red Front Alliance.

Let alone the SA, who were their adversaries, if it were before the economic crisis, the Berlin police would probably have gone to arrest them long ago if they had known that the Bohemian Brewery was their meeting place.

As for the period following the economic crisis, Germany's social order was in a state of semi-collapse. Berlin police were generally unwilling to provoke either the violent organizations affiliated with the Labour Party or the National Party.

Especially in slums like New Cologne, the main task of the police station in New Cologne is to clean up after conflicts between the two sides.

If someone escapes, they won't continue the pursuit. If someone from either side manages to escape, they'll arrest all the groups involved and then tacitly release the assault team members.

It can be said that, with the help of the New Colón Police Department, the local riot police have become even more unscrupulous. They routinely swagger around in New Colón under the guise of maintaining social order and cracking down on social parasites and saboteurs.

Occasionally, after receiving accurate intelligence, they would disrupt worker rallies or protests in the New Cologne district.

However, the stormtroopers crashed tonight.

More than a thousand members of the Red Front Alliance, led by Sher, sneaked up to the headquarters of the stormtroopers in the New Cologne district and launched an attack.

Upon meeting, the two sides, fueled by both old and new grudges, immediately turned on each other and fought fiercely. With their numerical advantage, they quickly overwhelmed hundreds of stormtroopers, knocking them to the ground.

The two groups of people used knives, sticks, bricks, and furniture to hack and slash at each other, turning the abandoned factory into a river of blood in an instant.

Seeing that his side might be defeated, the leader of the New Cologne district stormtroopers, enraged, pulled out his pistol and started firing at the crowd.

"Bang... bang... bang..."

Generally speaking, the Red Front Alliance and the stormtroopers are relatively restrained in their fighting, but once they draw their guns, the situation changes completely.

Some members of the Red Front Alliance were also armed, and at this point, neither side held back, and a gunfight ensued.

Gunshots rang out in the night, waking many residents and terrifying the police, who thought a rebellion had broken out.

In recent years, Germany has experienced quite a few insurgency events, most of which were organized by the labor union. Coupled with the fact that the whole of Europe was in a state of high alert during the economic crisis, it is not surprising that the police in the Neukölln district made this judgment.

Of course, it could also be a coup, since military coups have happened before in Europe.

However, regardless of the situation, the police in the New Colón district showed no intention of taking action. Herbert, the deputy chief of the New Colón police department, told his subordinates, "Our men should not make any rash moves before the gunfire stops. If a rebellion really breaks out, it is not something we can handle."

“For a gunfight of this scale, it would be safer to deploy the military; after all, we are just police officers.”

Thus, in the only police station that could possibly suppress the conflict, the Red Front Alliance and the Stormtroopers, playing the ostrich game, went into a bloodbath, and their "war" spread from the abandoned factory to the neighborhood.

The outnumbered assault team retreated and fled while gathering reinforcements from other areas to organize a counterattack.

The Red Front Alliance, which had initially been hesitant, became bolder as the police failed to appear and began to gather manpower to hunt down the roaming assault teams.

The conflict ultimately involved more than 5,000 people, and the entire New Cologne district was thrown into chaos.

It wasn't until 4 a.m. the next day that the 24th Infantry Regiment from Berlin finally arrived, ending the farce. Hundreds of people were arrested, and dozens of bodies were counted.

This incident had an extremely negative impact in Berlin and throughout Germany, with the Labour Party and the National Party accusing each other of indiscriminate killing.

However, unlike the Labour Party's anger, the National Party leader Adolf was somewhat pleased with the Labour Party's provocation.

He said at the National Party emergency meeting: "Now, we can fully declare war on these Labour Party members."

"I now declare the Labour Party to be the largest terrorist group in Germany, a threat to the lives and safety of the German people. In order to punish this evil organization, our National Party should retaliate and conduct a manhunt for all Labour Party members in Berlin."

"Assist the government in arresting these rioters and bringing these criminals to justice. At the same time, contact government officials who are on good terms with us to endorse our operation."

"And while we're at it, let's eliminate our opponents, including those Jews..."

Although Adolf has not yet become the leader of the empire, his behavior has become increasingly unscrupulous.

Since the outbreak of the economic crisis, many of his past actions have been tacitly approved by the German government. Adolf was a gambler, just like he had extorted Britain and France in his previous life. The German government's inaction only further fueled his ambition.

In fact, the SA has developed into a nationwide paramilitary organization in Germany in the past year without any government obstruction, even though it contains many veterans and is equipped with a small number of weapons.

If this were a labor organization, the German government would probably have been restless long ago, and it wouldn't be impossible for them to send in the army. But they did not make any trouble or stop Adolf's private armed forces from developing.

With Adolf's order, the German National Party and the Workers' Party completely broke off relations, and fierce clashes broke out between the two sides throughout Germany. In addition, under the instructions of the National Party, the SA launched a series of slanders and accusations against the Workers' Party, including arson, looting, street fighting, and so on.

SA members disguised themselves as Labour Party members and carried out various criminal activities in Germany. Then, the SA members cooperated with the police to act as "heroes" and stop the Labour Party's atrocities.

The German Labour Party was forced to engage in a major conflict with the German National Party. The scale of the conflict was so large that it even affected the normal functioning of German society and resulted in large-scale bloodshed.

This turmoil, which affected the whole of Germany, was later known as the "Two-Party War." The result was a massive purge of opponents and the Labour Party by the Adolf Party, and...

The German government, police, and military chose to stand idly by, which further emboldened Adolf and severely damaged the German Workers' Party organization, laying the foundation for his later conquest of Germany.
