Chapter 550 Temple 1
Qing Sang and the others arrived before the temple, and as expected, Wan Qiu appeared as soon as they did. Liu Shuangyue immediately went to meet him again, skillfully fighting him, but this time she did not retreat. When she was once again forced back by Wan Qiu's sword, she feigned a retreat, and Qing Sang immediately attacked. If this palm strike landed, Wan Qiu would be crippled if not killed. Just then, a second Wan Qiu appeared, blocking Qing Sang's attack. Qing Sang and Qing Luo exchanged a glance and attacked simultaneously. The second Wan Qiu was quickly forced into a desperate situation, and a third Wan Qiu appeared out of thin air.

As expected, Liu Shuangyue's guess was correct, but it was unclear whether there were only three late autumns or more.

Qing Sang's guess was correct; soon, a fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh Wanqiu appeared. Fortunately, they all appeared only when each was on the verge of death; if they had appeared all at once, the group probably wouldn't have been able to withstand it. However, after the seventh Wanqiu also became seriously injured, they all disappeared.

Qing Sang snorted coldly and walked directly towards the tower. Reaching the tower's door, he pushed it open, the door creaking open and echoing in the spacious hall. The hall revealed itself to be a temple, with a tall Buddha statue standing in the center, and in front of it were offering tables, divination sticks, incense burners, and prayer cushions. It looked somewhat familiar. Qing Sang thought for a moment, "Isn't this just like the Fanyun Temple in the Western Liang Kingdom that Chang Li has been to?"
Qing Sang didn't step inside directly. Instead, she gathered power in her hand and struck the already opened door. A barrier appeared under her power, shattering with her attack. When the barrier broke, the scene inside the hall had changed. The entire hall was resplendent in gold. The statue in the center was still there, but it wasn't a Buddha statue. Instead, it was a tall, ornately dressed, imposing male statue, its head obscured by a yellow veil hanging from the ceiling. The offering table, divination sticks, incense burner, and prayer cushions—all the things people used for prayer—were gone. The hall was empty.

Qing Sang then stepped inside. The reason he was certain the scene he'd just witnessed was an illusion was because he knew Chang Li's arrogant nature. While he might put on a show outside, he wouldn't genuinely dedicate himself to Buddhist practices on his own turf. Not to mention the fortune-telling sticks for people to make wishes—it was clearly a trap. If they hadn't noticed and had rashly entered, they would likely have been trapped in the illusion and at his mercy.

Upon entering the main hall, Qing Sang instinctively wanted to look up at the statue's face, only to find that the curtain was hanging there, seemingly to prevent people from looking directly at the statue's face, though a vague outline could be seen. The figure and the blurry outline gave Qing Sang a sense of familiarity. Qing Sang didn't think she was overthinking it; in fact, she felt that it might very well be Chang Li's own face, and she was ashamed to let anyone see it clearly.

The main hall was decorated with many paintings, depicting a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, figures, and even blank spaces.

The group walked around the main hall but couldn't find the staircase leading upwards. Therefore, it's reasonable to suspect that either they had fallen into an illusion, or a mechanism had hidden the staircase.

Qing Sang immediately released Yue Ran, asking her to help determine whether this was an illusion. Once Yue Ran confirmed that the place was real, the group immediately began searching the surroundings diligently. They carefully probed for teleportation arrays or mechanisms using their spiritual power, but ultimately found nothing.

"Could it be these paintings?" Song Tanxi pondered, looking at the paintings on the surrounding walls besides the statues.

Upon hearing her words, the group turned their attention to the paintings, hoping to find some patterns and tricks. Qing Sang and Qing Luo had no expertise in painting, so they simply stopped paying attention to them and left the study to the Song sisters and Liu Shuangyue, who came from prestigious families.

The two of them walked towards the statue in the middle in tacit agreement. For some reason, they felt that the statue's covered face was very important.

Qingluo flew over, intending to lift the veil covering their faces, only to discover that while the veil appeared to be hanging lightly, it was actually protected by an array and completely untouchable. Just as Qingluo was about to break the barrier, both of them felt an intense sense of being watched.

That gaze seemed to penetrate flesh, sending chills down one's spine. This was definitely not the power of Chang Li; in fact, it was probably impossible for anyone in the entire Cangyuan Yunji to contend with it.

Qingluo refrained from making a rash move and landed directly on the ground. Both of them tacitly stopped looking at the statue's face, and after a while, the feeling of being watched disappeared.

Is this the power behind Changli? Who is her heart truly involved with? There's probably more to this than meets the eye. But Qingsang is not one to back down easily. The more challenging the situation, the more determined she becomes to find the mastermind and uncover the truth.
