Gou is a dark elf in Warhammer
Chapter 1093, 945: Darkus the Dragon Tamer
Before leaving, Dakow made a point of "visiting" Ms. Ryana Silver Stag.
With Drusara setting off for the White Tower of Hoss and Miserion being temporarily reassigned to participate in the survey work, the daily care of Riana naturally fell to Fenrir.
The one who truly took on the responsibility of providing round-the-clock care was Fenrir's apprentice—the swordswoman Evelynn of Hoth. She stayed by Rianna's side almost every step of the way, meticulously and restrainedly managing her diet, hygiene, and daily routine, as if guarding a fragile yet precious object.
Riana's father, Miserion, was a renowned astrologer. And astrologering always involves calculation and surveying. So, it was almost natural for Darkus to assign him to assist Alisa.
Alisa led a team to conduct a large-scale survey and demarcation of Lorthene and its surrounding lands. She needed to prepare for the upcoming major construction and ensure that Aisha and Kunos's sacred ownership was put into practice.
Unfortunately, Dakota's timing wasn't ideal.
Ryana was currently in a deep sleep in the isolation room that Drusara had personally designed and meticulously tested. Through the bright observation window, he saw Evelyn sitting at the small desk in the isolation room, her head bowed as she flipped through a stack of manuscript documents. Her posture was quiet and focused, clearly trying to preserve a mental sanctuary for herself during this long and monotonous period of caregiving.
Noticing his arrival, Evelyn looked up and waved to him through the glass. The movement was natural and practiced, like some kind of daily, scheduled "keeper-keeper interaction."
A strong sense of déjà vu, like being in a zoo, hits you right in the face.
Unfortunately, this "keeper" is not free; she must guard the world behind the glass.
Even more regrettably, the rare animal inside the enclosure did not wake up, so that tourists could catch a glimpse of it.
Dakos stood outside the window for a moment, like a tourist who had bought a ticket but only saw a sleeping panda. In the end, he could only turn and leave with a hint of inexplicable melancholy.
While Rianna's recovery can be described as stable, it has ultimately left its mark. In Fenrir's somewhat calm yet professionally astute words: the future Rianna will be a promising candidate for learning dark magic.
"Another new friend?"
As the vehicle headed towards the vast ocean, Darkus was suddenly drawn to a commotion in the sky. Looking up, he saw the dragon beginning to descend, preparing to land. Judging solely from its size and flight posture, he immediately identified the one at the forefront as Ignimus.
Behind Ignimus were two giant dragons.
They are not red dragons.
He was certain of that.
Those were two Shining Star Dragons, their distinctive features almost requiring no further identification. Their scales reflected a cold and noble luster in the sunlight, their aura calm and ancient, completely different from the ferocity of the fire dragons.
Clearly, Ignimus is currently playing the role of a 'bridge'.
If nothing unexpected happens, these two visiting Star Dragons will likely play a role similar to tribal chiefs within the fire dragon group.
"Go and see."
Following Dakous's instructions, the vehicle immediately adjusted its direction.
Everything is changing.
Not only the Kingdom of Caledo, which should have fought to the last moment, chose to end the war and submit to the leadership of Duruchi; even the fire dragons dwelling in the Dragonspine Mountains of the Kingdom of Caledo began to make their own choices.
And Ignimus was the first to change his stance.
This fire dragon, which left early on the day of the Battle of Lor'then, returned to Lor'then and ultimately chose to stay there, joining the red dragon family.
and so……
Now, perhaps it should no longer be called the "Red Dragon Clan," but rather the "Great Dragon Clan"?
Or will a completely new name emerge in the future?
After exchanging pleasantries, Darkus learned the names of the two Star Dragons.
One of them was named Coronax.
In Alsatian, it can be translated as "the crown of the sun," used to describe the magnificent sight of its wings spreading out like a dazzling halo surrounding the sun.
And indeed, it lives up to its name.
Kronax's physique, imposing presence, and majesty were born to belong to the skies and to glory.
The other one was a female dragon named Elois.
In Elsalin, it can be interpreted as "light of glory," a name that is melodious and long, yet carries weight.
Through their conversation, Darkus gradually learned that the brother and sister had been awakened by Ignimus.
Then, Ignimus told them everything in detail, from the emergence of the red dragonflight and the outbreak of the War of Lor'then, to his own choices, and the changes that are happening now, connecting the previously scattered and vague clues one by one.
So the brother and sister followed Ignimus to see for themselves.
Dakos stayed there for a full hour.
In that hour, nothing earth-shattering happened, but enough crucial details piled up: conversations, silences, waiting, and silent observations. The young dragons and dragonborn, who were on rest, were summoned by Modax to have the siblings take a look.
From the siblings' reaction alone, Dakota could clearly sense that there was no rejection, no resistance. On the contrary, it was an almost fervent emotion, as if after wandering in the fog for a long time, they had finally seen a path to follow.
That emotion wasn't impulsive, but rather a long-lost sense of direction.
He then made his own judgment.
It seems this deal is done.
So he chose to leave.
Anyway, there's nothing he absolutely needs to do there. These matters don't require his personal attention; Modax is perfectly capable of handling them.
Moreover, the next stage is a learning period.
The brother and sister need to first learn the Dragon Transformation Technique and master the skill of transforming themselves into dragon form.
He will only intervene after they have truly learned and mastered the skills.
Of course, strictly speaking, he might not actually need to get involved. Modax is capable of handling everything; all he can do is, like he did with Ignimus, have a meal and chat with him.
It was during the reception of Ignimus that Darkus learned a great deal about the true situation and secrets of the dragon race from the dragon. This information was the fundamental reason why he judged that the newly arrived brother and sister had found a new direction.
The fire dragons living in the Dragonspine Mountains are actually quite numerous. However, they are far less energetic than the red dragons led by Modax, or the dragons of the Central Plains.
It is no exaggeration to say that the fire dragon group has fallen into a state of stagnation.
Darkus mentally summarized the overall state of the fire dragon group, dividing them into four categories.
The first type is those that are completely asleep.
The physical body remains, the heart still beats, the chest still rises and falls, but the soul is no longer on this shore. Even if the physical body is destroyed, it cannot be awakened; the dragon song has no effect on it.
According to Ignimus, there is only one way to awaken such beings—to delve into the deepest recesses of consciousness and seek them out. (See Chapter 805.)
But even if it is found, it is just that—found.
Whether they are willing to withdraw their consciousness back into their bodies and whether they are willing to wake up is entirely up to them.
The second category consists of those who don't sleep too soundly.
In Dakota's understanding, this is more like a state of light sleep.
These types of fire dragons can respond to dragon songs because their consciousness still lingers and wanders in the shallow realm. But they rarely truly respond; at most, they simply open their eyes, glance at who is singing the dragon song, and then close their eyes again, sinking back into the dream.
This state seems to be inextricably linked to the history of elves.
There are just too many messy and troublesome things happening.
So many that the dragons lost trust in the elves, so many that they preferred to cast their consciousness to another world rather than remain here.
They seem to have lost all attachment to this world.
No more longing, no more expectation.
They were immersed in the long-extinguished yet still warm glory of their dreams, as if the real world was no longer worth them spreading their wings again.
This world is declining, losing its former color and meaning, becoming dull and lifeless. Once glorious, it is now like a slowly cooling star, inch by inch heading towards death.
The third type is the fire dragon that still holds expectations for this world and is still willing to fight alongside the elves.
Unfortunately, this type is extremely rare.
Moreover, almost all of them died on the day of the Battle of Lorthorn. Darkus once asked Ignimus: Where exactly did the consciousness of the dragons go?
Even Ignimus couldn't explain it. He only said that it was the dragon's secret—it was a warm ocean.
The world of dreams is eternal. The flames burn eternally, the rhythm never ceases, and miracles are within reach. There, there is no death, no decay. Power is everywhere, and faith needs no proof.
Greatness itself needs no questioning.
Unfortunately, Ignimus is of the fourth type.
He doesn't live in the Dragonspine Mountains, but is one of the few who inhabit the craters. He is an almost reclusive individual who maintains contact with his people, yet remains detached from them. His sleep is pure sleep, like the red dragons living in Elsin Alwyn, without sinking their consciousness into that ocean.
He deliberately avoided that place.
If we take Ignimus's actions and words as anchor points, then what Master Ma once said to Dakota becomes a necessary supplement.
Darkus once asked Master Ma: During meditation, have you ever perceived the dragon in another form, existing as some kind of divine being, or as an extradimensional entity?
Master Ma's answer was: Yes, but very few.
So few, only single digits.
This clearly doesn't match up.
It is known that there are a great many dragons living in the Dragon Ridge Mountains. If those sleeping dragons really project their consciousness, then the number that Master Ma can perceive should be enormous and diverse, and could not possibly be so small.
Therefore, it is reasonable to infer that what Master Ma sensed was either Ignimus or one of the few fire dragons that still had expectations for this world and were still willing to fight alongside the elves.
So, where did the consciousness of the other fire dragons go?
Darkus's view was that these fire dragons had "uploaded" their consciousness.
Uploaded into the creation of some ancient sage.
That's why Master Ma couldn't find it.
His conclusion was not based on mere conjecture, but rather on evidence and clues he actually possessed.
He had seen a set of murals in the space of Death Island. And the key evidence is hidden in the eighth mural.
Through repeated verification, he confirmed that a point on the mural corresponded to the Silverstone near Tal Iris.
There are eight similar points on the eighth mural. If we consider the Silverstone as the anchor point, then the other seven points are hidden in the craters and deep forests within Ulthuan.
Combined with Saril's speculation, these points are likely not temporary structures erected by Caledo later to activate the Great Vortex, but rather guiding stone nodes that were already in place during the time of the Old Saints.
Perhaps Caledo visited one of these places back then, and it was there that he gained the inspiration for the Great Vortex.
One of these eight points happens to be located in the heart of the Kingdom of Caledo—right in the Dragonspine Mountains.
In other words, the Dragon Ridge Mountains themselves hold secrets.
This is the evidence.
Besides these, there are other clues.
For example, how did dragons come into being? And who created them in the first place?
Dakous's opinion is: Delacion.
With Master Ma's order, the lizardmen began to construct the pyramid.
Using these pyramids, they escaped the doomed reality and entered the vast and cold universe.
However, the lizardmen did not find salvation. They wandered in this painful void for an extremely long time, and the farther they drifted, the more energy stored in the pyramids was lost.
The spaceship is entirely powered by magic, yet it cannot replenish its energy in space. As critical equipment gradually fails, the lizardmen, who are extremely sensitive to the cold, begin to die one after another.
Only the Sran priests endure, their souls burning like primordial furnaces. They continue to pour their power into the equipment, even at the cost of their own lives.
Until they too were on the verge of death.
To protect their dwindling numbers of servants, the Sran priests ordered them to enter stasis devices. They themselves then began to attempt to divine their path forward.
Ultimately, Delacion discovered these spaceships wandering the universe. He became interested in these wondrous creations and was able to clearly perceive the will and wisdom they contained.
Faced with this hard-won opportunity for redemption, the Sran priests established a telepathic connection with the Draxion.
They lamented the depravity of their world. They poured out the illusion that the power of destruction would ultimately prevail into the dragon's mind.
And so, the dragon shed a great many silver tears.
Although all of this is more like a legend.
However, records show that in those extremely distant times, a large-scale silver meteor shower did indeed fall from the sky.
Following the path paved with Draxion's burning tears, the Sran laboriously guided their already ravaged spaceship towards the highest point of Azir. It was a route woven from silver light and scorching will, as if the entire cosmos were yielding to them. The energy born there was surging and pure, remarkably similar in essence to the magic once used by the Old Saints. It was with these long-lost yet familiar powers that the Sran were able to reactivate those long-dormant temples.
From this point on, the story inevitably becomes more ambiguous.
Did any reptilians survive the stasis and slowly regain consciousness when their energy was replenished?
Or was the first true lizardman actually born directly from the incubation pool filled with celestial energy and the divine essence of the Draxion?
Even the lizard priests could not reach a consensus on these details.
Moreover, they may never know the real answer.
Many lizards firmly believe that the core of this story is true, even though some Slans have raised objections to the details and even offered completely different explanations of the origin to fit their own understanding of the "Grand Plan".
However, one thing is undeniable—there is indeed an undeniable and unbreakable connection between the Lizardmen and the Draxion!
Darkus believed that the encounter between the space fleet and the Delacion was itself part of the Old Saint's calculations.
In his understanding, Draxion was more like a "back door" left behind by the ancient saints, a deeply hidden key used to help the lizardmen complete the reboot and open the second battlefield.
Just like when the first position is completely breached, the war quickly moves to the second position to continue the unfinished war.
even……
Slan was able to find this planet only under the guidance of Draxion. Draxion's offspring live on this planet, but the relationship between the Old Ones and the dragons is not harmonious.
However, what is intriguing is that the Ancient Ones, who clearly possessed the ability to completely annihilate the dragons, did not do so.
Darkus thus deduced that the Old Ones had seen the immense value contained within the dragons. But ultimately, the dragons were an uncontrollable and overwhelming force.
So, after establishing Ulthuan, they placed a device similar to a 'consciousness upload' in the Dragonspine Mountains.
The goal was not to destroy the dragons, but to make them controllable, or at least to allow them to exert a sustained and stable influence on the first front with their immense power.
perhaps……
Is there a key hidden there?
A key capable of awakening, or even 'properly activating, all dragons. A key that serves as a beacon, summoning Dracoxion, still wandering the universe?
And Darkus, who finds this key, will become...
Darkus the Dragon Tamer? Or, more accurately, Darkus the Dragon Summoner?
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but chuckle softly.
Kallian didn't turn around or ask why; he simply continued to perform his duties, gripping the steering wheel firmly and driving with focus, as if nothing had happened.
Darkus made this connection because he had heard from Ignimus a prophecy widely circulated among the dragonflight: one day, the dragons of Ulthuan would perish together in the final battle against the Chaos Gods. (Appeared in Chapter 800)
Unfortunately, this scenario did not ultimately occur.
Dakos's guess might be correct. Or perhaps it's just wishful thinking on his part.
But right now, there is no final answer.
The answer can only be truly revealed when he personally travels to the Dragonspine Mountains. (End of Chapter)
