A day at Hogwarts.

Chapter 549 The Dormitory Exploded Again

Chapter 549 The Dormitory Exploded Again

The short Easter holiday was over, and Harry happily counted his pounds, while Ron and Neville studied Muggle currency on the side.

They also wanted to make money, but it was a craft, and only Harry could imitate Charles's handwriting.

“The amount is correct,” Harry said to Charles. “Would you like a receipt?”

Charles nodded and continued doing his work at his desk.

Simone pulled up a chair and sat down next to Charles, watching intently as he fiddled with a cash register.

Below the cash register is a large box. Lifting the lid reveals an oil painting display, and pulling out a panel underneath reveals a keyboard. There are recesses on both sides of the box, and a place to store parchment next to it.

“Alright!” Charles said to Seamus, “Now we can try it.”

On Simo's desk was a delicious tablecloth, next to several large cardboard boxes containing many different colored boxes, each with a different number, as well as three bags of Galleons and other coins.

Charles and Seamus switched places.

"I want one bottle of No. 5 shampoo and five bars of No. 1 soap."

Charles took several boxes of simulated goods out of the cardboard box and handed them to Simo along with some coins.

Simo ran all the cardboard boxes through the cash register, and the cash register display immediately showed the item details and total amount.

He took the coins and tossed them into the slot on the left side of the cash register. The gold, silver, and copper coins were automatically sorted and counted, and the monitor displayed the amount received and the change due. Soon, the received coins were swallowed, and the change appeared in the slot on the right.

The two checked the data and found it to be accurate.

Ron came over and asked, "What is this?"

Charles said, "We're going to test the money-counting machine at the Seymour's shop first."

"Why don't you try it and see if there are any problems?"

Ron found it amusing, so he took a few boxes and randomly grabbed a few coins for Seamus.

This time, the money was short, and the monitor immediately prompted that the money should be replenished before continuing.

Harry and Neville also came and played for a while.

The cardboard box was quickly emptied, and Simo checked the total; the amount and quantity were correct.

Harry, having seen Muggle cash registers before, wasn't particularly surprised, while Ron and the others were having a blast and wanted to keep playing.

Charles said to Seamus, "It's time to move on to the next test."

He picked up a white-covered communication notebook with only the word "Test" in black on the cover, opened the shop interface, selected a few items, placed some coins on the delicious tablecloth, and finally confirmed.

The coins on the delicious tablecloth quickly disappeared, and a notification appeared on the monitor. A parchment slip with the order details was ejected, accompanied by a voice saying, "You have a new order."

Ron and Neville recognized the voice; it was that of a rising star singer who frequently appeared on the radio.

Simo first placed the corresponding box on a board next to the cash register, then clicked confirm. The box disappeared and reappeared on the delicious tablecloth, along with the corresponding change.

Ron asked curiously, "Why didn't the money reach Seamus?"

Charles said, "The money went into our vault and was deposited in Simo's account. Change was paid from a special vault."

He repeated to Ron what he had said to the bosses that day.

During this time, they also tried other functions, such as insufficient funds, incorrect quantity and type of goods, and unauthorized shopping by minors.

Nawi bought a bunch of things with his communication laptop, but then he was banned from purchasing them.

Charles granted Neville a spending limit, meaning he could only buy two bottles of shampoo; no more.

Ron then asked, "Why impose such restrictions?"

Seamus said, "A long time ago, a wizard's child impersonated his parents and used an owl to send a letter to Florin's Ice Cream Shop to order fifty pounds of ice cream."

Ron couldn't help but ask, "He wasn't beaten to death by his family, was he?"

He dared not imagine what his mother and father would do to him if he ordered fifty non-refundable ice creams for his family. Simon didn't answer.

Charles handed the notebook to Simo and said, "Try making a payment from your account, and I'll check the backend data."

Simo took the notebook and switched places with Charles.

Charles sat in front of the cash register, pulled out the keyboard, opened the backend, and checked how long it would take for the transfer process to be completed.

Simo selected a bottle of shampoo, and after thinking for a moment, wrote in the notes, "If the shampoo is in stock, I'll buy a bottle of butterbeer; if not, just the butterbeer, and have them all delivered together."

He used to receive many similar owl orders when he was helping out at the store, asking people to buy other things for him.

"boom!"

The Gryffindor Tower swayed.

The students were thrown into chaos, all rushing to the common room.

"What happened?" Lavender asked Dean. "What's going on in the boys' dormitory?"

Dean said blankly, "I don't know, I'm doing my homework here."

Not long after, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall came down from the boys' dormitory, followed by four stretchers. Seamus, Harry, Ron, and Neville were unconscious, their faces blackened with soot, and Harry was clutching several pounds tightly in his hand.

"Where's Charles?" Hermione noticed that one of them was missing.

Professor McGonagall said in a cold tone, "We didn't see Charles; there's only one shoe left at the scene."

Everyone gasped.

Many people came to the crime scene and saw that everything in the bedroom was blown to pieces, with many Galleons and other coins scattered on the floor. The wall where the desk was placed had disappeared, and the wind was blowing in.

"Was it Simo who made it again?"

someone asked.

Many people think that's how it should be.

At this very moment, in Geneva, Switzerland, the lights are on in an apartment that was purchased and where only a housekeeping company's cleaners come to clean and water the plants regularly.

Charles remembers that the refrigerator in this safe house was always open, and there were six bottles of soda. The cleaning staff who came to clean on the 5th of each month had to take one bottle to drink, the one who came on the 15th had to take another bottle to drink, and the one who came on the 25th had to drink one bottle to replenish the three newly bought bottles, and then put the three old bottles on top.

The housekeeping company was seen as an employer checking whether the cleaners were working on time. Geneva is the European conference capital, and some out-of-town companies that frequently come here on business buy apartments as dormitories, so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Charles pulled out a bottle of soda and gulped it down in one go, which calmed his racing heart a little.

Just now, for some reason, the control core of the cash register suddenly malfunctioned. It started running at high speed and wouldn't stop, and then it overloaded and started smoking.

His intuition told him that great danger was about to occur, so he shouted "Run!" and then used the door key in his shoe to run to the safe house where he was still paying off his mortgage.

This puzzled Charles greatly. What could possibly cause the supposedly mature control core to overload to the point of smoking and self-destructing?

To prevent anyone from cracking the control core, they installed a self-destruct program inside. I don't know if Harry and the others escaped.

Jack soon received a message from Dumbledore.

Dumbledore believes that Charles was responsible for the explosion and is now on the run, so he asks Jack to tell him that it's not a big deal and to come back.

Jack frowned, thinking that Charles had no reason to cause an explosion in the dormitory. Could it be that the fairies had made their move?
He tried to contact Charles using his laptop, only to find that Charles's laptop was offline.

Charles was about to let them know he was safe when he realized that his communication notebooks, which he used and those from the Ministry of Magic, were missing. He thought he had left them on his bedside table.

He scratched his head, wondering if he had been blown up.

At this moment, Jack left No. 3 Privet Drive with a gloomy face.
