A day at Hogwarts.
Chapter 557 The Fairy's Revenge
Chapter 557 The Fairy's Revenge
While Charles was figuring out how to mention to Seamus that his mother wanted a well-behaved doll daughter, the fairies were already getting restless.
In the brightly lit conference room, several fairies sat around a round table, while Gronouk surveyed them with a gloomy expression.
“The gentlemen are very dissatisfied with this incident.” Gronouk pointed to the ceiling. “We must take action and achieve results, or else we’ll have to fight the trolls with a spoon.”
The fairies present couldn't help but shiver, and the atmosphere suddenly became oppressive. The candlelight illuminated their ashen, distorted faces, and the air was filled with the shame of defeat, deep-seated anger, and overwhelming hatred for the wizard named Charles Smith.
Gronk coughed twice, not to indicate anything, but because he was genuinely sick.
He nearly went into shock that day due to anger and anxiety. He was barely saved, and when he woke up, the wrinkles on his face were even deeper, and his eyes were as sinister as those of the deepest mine.
"shame!"
A young fairy with a gold earring on her ear slammed her fist on the hard oak table, making a dull thud. Her scarlet uniform looked particularly ferocious in the cold light.
"An unprecedented disgrace! The entire wizarding world is laughing at us! Laughing at Gringotts' defenses for being as impenetrable as a sieve! And all of this is because of that filthy, cunning little wizard!"
"Charles Smith!"
"Dancing Grass Restaurant...that damn banner! Thirty thousand Galleons became their stepping stone! We became their stepping stone to fame!"
A suppressed, hateful growl and curses filled the meeting room.
After they finished shouting, Gronouk coldly asked the young goblin, "Golden Ring, cursing won't solve anything. Speak your mind."
“I believe that you, like your second uncle, are a clever fairy.”
Jin Huan's anger intensified. Many demons believed that the incident was due to his second uncle's stupidity, and that perhaps a different demon could have resolved it.
He suppressed his anger and uttered in a cold voice: "The fairies nowadays are too merciful. Wizards have forgotten the great achievements of our ancestors. The wailing of fairies has become just a few letters in the history of magic textbooks."
Several young fairies nodded in agreement.
Gronook looked at him expressionlessly. There was a group of young fairies trying to restore the so-called glory of their ancestors. Their slogans were very appealing, and even the gentlemen on the rooftop had semi-public support for them.
They took action after Christmas last year, but I heard that none of the guys they sent out to do something have returned.
This incident garnered even more support from the gentlemen on the rooftop, and Gronouk, despite disliking the radical approach, could only tolerate it.
Jin Huan paused, her cold gaze sweeping over everyone, and said, word by word, "Once and for all, make him disappear completely."
"An accident, a runaway magical artifact exploding in the crowded streets of Hogsmeade; or an attack by a dangerous, out-of-control magical creature near the Screaming Shack..."
"Charles Smith, a student who tragically perished during Hogsmeade Week. The dead cannot speak, and his secret of infiltrating Gringotts will be buried with him."
"Panic will distract the wizards; they'll re-evaluate Gringotts' necessity and security instead of fixating on that damned banner!"
The word "assassination" was like a bucket of liquid nitrogen spilled in the conference room, causing the surrounding temperature to plummet.
The radical young fairies' eyes blazed with fanaticism, and they discussed amongst themselves as if they had found the most direct and effective solution.
Gronk did not object, but remained silent.
"no!"
An old goblin named Malajak suddenly shouted, his stern gaze sweeping over the radicals like the Golden Ring, and the young goblins immediately fell silent.
Malajak abruptly stood up from his chair, his withered fingers gripping the edge of the table tightly, his knuckles white. His aged but shrewd eyes were fixed on Golden Ring, carrying a stern warning: "Absolutely not, Golden Ring, put away your extreme ideas!"
“Charles Smith is no nobody. He is a student at Hogwarts, a student praised by Dumbledore, a wizard whom that fool Fudge publicly declared would have a bright future, a member of the Slug Club, and more importantly, the behind-the-scenes owner of Falbot Castle and Dancing Grass Restaurant!”
“The wizarding governments of the Caribbean, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and other countries... and even the Magical Congress of the United States are rumored to have recently visited Farbatton Castle to check their respective security vulnerabilities.”
"That restaurant is currently very popular and world-renowned. It has become a gathering place for many influential wizards. Rumor has it that many flying broom companies have scheduled their summer new product launches there this year, and several singers have also held new album launches there."
Malajak took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart, and stared directly at the golden ring, saying sternly, "Have you thought about the consequences of killing him?"
"Dumbledore will be furious!"
"Even if the Ministry of Magic is incompetent, it must thoroughly investigate the murder of a Hogwarts student at Hogsmeade!"
"Fudge will put on an act just to save face!"
"I've also heard some rumors among many wizarding families that Charles Smith is the son of the Dark Lord!" "At that time, countless eyes will be on Gringotts. If any clue is found to be related to us, it will be a catastrophe!"
"The wizards will completely lose the last bit of trust they have in us. They will panic and demand that the Ministry of Magic take over Gringotts!"
"The foundation built by countless demons over countless years with their lives may be destroyed by your foolish 'once and for all' idea!"
At first, Golden Ring thought this was just another of the old man's old clichés, but he felt a sense of fear when Malajak revealed that Charles was Voldemort's son.
He said hesitantly, "As long as no one finds out, it'll be fine."
Malajak glared at him coldly.
Jin Huan spread her hands and said, "We can't just do nothing."
Malajak tapped the table with his fingers, the sound low but carrying an undeniable authority.
He said in a slow and serious tone, "Anger won't solve anything, my fellow countrymen."
"What we need is action, to restore Gringotts' reputation, and to make that arrogant wizard pay the price."
“Most importantly,” he said, his sharp eyes sweeping over the crowd, “we must know exactly how he did it.”
"The door to that vault combines our most advanced forging skills and most powerful protective magic, even suppressing spatial magic."
"We have to find out how he got in so quietly and left that damn... banner?"
"Capture him!" Gronk growled, his eyes flashing with a fierce light. "We must capture him and force him to reveal his secrets. Only by knowing his methods can we completely plug this loophole and rebuild Gringotts' unbreakable myth!"
Golden Ring remained silent for a moment. To the fairy, this was indeed more important than killing Charles directly.
“Agreed,” he immediately agreed. “Hogwarts students always have to leave the castle eventually, for example, during the next Hogsmeade Week.”
“Hogsmeade Village is a mixed bag, with many wizards, making it a perfect place to strike.”
“We can bribe a foreign wizard who does the dirty work, disguise him as an ordinary wizard tourist, and subdue him instantly when he is alone at Three Brooms, Pighead Bar or somewhere else.”
"Take him to the transfer station first, then bring him back directly through the secret Filo network nodes we control!"
The fact that Jin Huan represented the radical faction at the meeting demonstrates his competence, and the plan received nods of approval from many fairies.
Secret arrests and forced confessions are their usual tactics, especially when it comes to Gringotts' core secrets.
Malajak breathed a sigh of relief. These young fairies were good in every way, except for their lack of a global perspective.
He said to the Golden Ring earnestly, "The root of this incident lies in the vault of Farbatton Castle, in Charles Smith's confidence in its security, and in the confidence of other wizards because of this."
Golden Ring understood his meaning and said excitedly, "I will lead people to destroy the vault of Farbatton Castle and that wretched Dancing Grass Restaurant, so that all the wizards in the world will know that it is not safe there."
Gronuk nodded, and Malajak said nothing more.
Malajak looked around again, especially at the young goblins as aggressive as the Golden Rings, and said, “Remember, our foundation as goblins is wealth and contracts, not the daggers of assassins.”
"Secretly capture him, force him to reveal his infiltration methods, and then... make him sign the most stringent confidentiality magic contract, or use a forgetting spell to completely erase his related memories, and then release him safely. This is the safest way."
"It's more advantageous for us to get what we want while minimizing the risks, turning him into a pathetic 'lucky escape from a mysterious attack but too scared to say anything.'"
“Then it’s settled.” Gronook made the decision without room for doubt. “Do everything you can to find out Charles Smith’s whereabouts, create chaos in Hogsmeade or take advantage of him being alone to secretly capture him and bring him back.”
"I want him to kneel here fully conscious and tell me his secret!"
A cruel smile appeared on Golden Ring's face as she sneered, "How about we bring Jack Smith along? I'm sure my adorable grandson will answer any question when the troll's club is only a foot away from his grandfather."
After a moment's thought, Gronook said, "Let's arrest Charles Smith first and threaten him step by step."
He then began assigning tasks.
The meeting ended, and the fairies dispersed with their respective orders, leaving the conference room once again shrouded in cold darkness and the flickering light of candlelight.
A trap was quietly woven in the deepest shadows of Gringotts for Charles.
