A day at Hogwarts.
Life after Chapter 615
Life after Chapter 615
The soft morning sunlight streamed through the restaurant windows, casting golden dappled light on the wooden table. The two vampire girls sat together, enjoying their first breakfast of the day, chatting and laughing as they savored the steaming hot meal.
Freshly baked pretzel bread sits on the table, and the air is filled with the aroma of fried sausages and hot milk.
Marlene had consumed too much energy this weekend. Her theater company, where she works, requires strict adherence to her figure even when playing instruments, so her breakfast was only slightly more substantial than that of the Hogwarts headmaster—a small bowl of oatmeal, a few pieces of fruit, and a cup of coffee.
Erica grinned mischievously, lifted Charles's arm, and brought it to her mouth, only to have it pushed away.
Today was a workday. Marlene quickly finished her breakfast, got up and walked to the fireplace. She grabbed a handful of Floo Powder, whispered her destination, and the green flames instantly enveloped her, disappearing into the vortex.
An owl flapped its wings and landed on the farm, landing steadily on the windowsill, its feathers still glistening with morning dew.
Erica was sitting at the table eating fried eggs and bacon when she quickly took the letter.
She glanced at the letter briefly, then handed it to Charles. She took a frozen chicken leg from the refrigerator, thawed it, and gave it to the owl.
Charles, who was eating Bavarian white sausage, took the letter, read it, and said, "I knew there was something wrong with the tractor. The previous owner had put a curse on it."
A slight smile appeared on his lips as he continued, "Luckily, you didn't make it fly."
He recalled the scene of Erika's debriefing and was glad that the takeoff switch hadn't been turned on.
Later, they also found a switch on the wall of the garage, which could open the garage roof and allow the tractor to fly out.
Erica pouted and said, "Hmph, if you didn't notice the tractor was cursed, that's your problem!"
She was still annoyed by the embarrassing incident of falling into the water, especially since Marlene had been nagging about it for two days afterward, making her feel both ashamed and guilty.
But on second thought, Charles is always meticulous, so this mistake was indeed a bit unusual.
Charles shrugged and explained helplessly, "The tractor uses a local German magic spell, which is different in style from the British one and is very well hidden. It's normal that I didn't notice it."
He pondered that this spell might be used to improve the puppet, and it was worth further study.
Erica had spent a year at Hogwarts and had a better understanding of the British magic system than before, and she knew this principle.
She still appeared angry, but inwardly she admitted that Charles was right.
However, even though I knew it, I still had to throw a tantrum when it came to assigning responsibility—after all, falling into the water that day was really embarrassing, and it also dragged Marlene into it, and she was being nagged at so much that her ears were calloused.
Charles simply reached out and scratched her head, a gesture that was both affectionate and helpless.
He continued the conversation: "The curse on the tractor is quite interesting and worth studying."
The details of the spell flashed through his mind, and he planned to find time to decipher and analyze it. Suddenly, he said, "By the way, do you want to drive back to Durmstrang for school? That would be way cooler than any other way."
Erica said irritably, "Do you want me to become a laughing stock?"
She rolled her eyes. Charles was always up to his old tricks. Durmstrang students would laugh their heads off if they saw someone driving a tractor to school.
Charles said nonchalantly, "Harry and Ron have a precedent of driving to Hogwarts before."
He shrugged, thinking the idea was pretty cool.
Erica ignored his antics, pinched him, and said, "While I'm reciting my lessons today, you go and turn over the floor for me."
She's taking the written test for her tractor driver's license in a couple of days, and she's busy memorizing all the test content.
Charles said, "No rush, I'll teach you a spell today." The farmland had been abandoned for many days, overgrown with weeds and vines entwined around the abandoned fences.
Charles remembered that when Grindelwald caused trouble in Paris, the blue flames he unleashed allowed those loyal to him to pass through, while those with ulterior motives turned to ashes. Naturally, he wanted to learn from this.
Now, under his guidance, Erica waved her wand, and a blue carpet of fire swept across the field, turning all the pests in the farmland to ashes. The weeds and wildly growing crops were scorched and looked like they were doomed.
Erica was amazed; the spell was much more powerful than she had imagined.
She cast her spell again, setting the entire farmland ablaze.
“Your blood is so powerful now.” After she finished, she turned to Charles in surprise, her face full of confusion. “I feel like I have inexhaustible magic, completely different from before the day of the finals.”
She recalled the scene of the Triwizard Tournament final. She had drunk some of Charles's blood the night before, and her magic was greatly depleted during the match, but now she felt that it was flowing endlessly.
"What exactly happened to you?" she wondered to herself, as few outsiders knew the details of what happened on the day of the finals.
As for what Charles and Fleur did, the details are unknown.
The change they were referring to wasn't something like growing taller, but a more fundamental change.
Charles didn't think anything of it at first, until he heard that Harry had arrived in Azkaban and that he had taken some delicious biscuits to greet the Dementors. He then realized that the Dementors' already weak influence on him had suddenly disappeared, and that something had changed.
Erica nodded and said, "The biggest change is that she has a bit of a girlish feel to her, but it's definitely not like Fleur and her sister's, nor is it like mine or Marlene's."
“I’ve heard before that this can happen shortly after a blood transfusion.”
"But I always feel something is wrong, it's more like... the taste of your relatives, your blood relatives."
"Could it be that you've found your sister?"
She noticed a subtle, magical aura emanating from Charles and wondered if he had found his family.
Charles paused for a moment, then immediately changed the subject, asking her about her next plans.
There are some things that can never be said, but he bought a lot of clothes and jewelry for Furong and a lot of toys and snacks for Gabrielle as a token of his affection.
Erica, seeing that he was unwilling to say more, let it go and told him her plan: first, turn over the soil and plant green manure plants; after graduating next year, she would officially start planting and selling garlic, and then talk about the rest later.
“I plan to save money to buy a garlic sauce production line.” She pointed to the barren field and said in a rambling voice, “There are quite a few towns around, and we can sell our garlic sauce at the market to make a living.”
She longed for this peaceful life, unlike Charles who worked tirelessly to earn money; she simply wanted a stable life.
“That’s not difficult,” Charles said, stroking his chin. “Actually, you can find a used equipment dealer, buy a set of old equipment, and I’ll fix it for you so it’s enough for your own use.”
This production line is only busy during the garlic harvest season each year. It's not running at other times, so lower efficiency doesn't matter, and energy consumption is not a concern either; magic can handle it.
Erica nodded and said, "The land where garlic is grown needs crop rotation. I plan to grow wheat, corn, and beans."
She continued rambling by the field, saying, "I'm thinking about raising two dairy cows so we can produce milk to make cheese and be self-sufficient. You can come here if you want milk in the future."
That's what they say, but the milk and stuff are just bait; the real goal is to catch Charles.
Charles turned and gave her a deep look.
Erica felt like her plot had been exposed, so she stuck out her tongue and made a face.
Charles, however, was thinking that he should buy a farm or ranch himself, as it would be more comfortable than living in the city.
