A day at Hogwarts.

Chapter 704 Preliminary Results

Chapter 704 Preliminary Results
In late autumn, every leaf on the mountain is dyed golden, splashing gold from the foot of the mountain all the way to the top.

At the foot of the mountains, a lake reflects the clouds in the sky and the scenery of the surrounding mountains and forests, so still that there is not a ripple.

In front of the cabin halfway up the mountain, the charcoal in the barbecue grill was burning well, and Charles put a few pieces of tomahawk steak on it.

Jack asked Charles, "You have so many projects at your company, are you just slacking off here?"

He heard that Charles was going to build a mobile library and the Merlin system, and that time was tight. He thought he would go back to Farbatton Castle to work on and study what he had learned that night, but after leaving Washington, he went straight to the Rocky Mountains for a vacation.

Today, everything in the White House was set up, and Jack came over to see what he was up to.

Charles replied, "I completed the core of those two systems long ago. The people in the company can handle the research and development and production of the external systems."

He placed the potatoes on the grill and asked, "Grandpa, how did you learn the magic of the house-elves at Hogwarts?"

This wasn't the first time he'd asked this question, but this time it was clearly different from before.

Jack pondered for a moment, and finally could only say, "I'm afraid I can't answer that question."

"It feels like learning to ride a bicycle; if you can't, you can't; if you can, you can."

"At first, I could never grasp that feeling, but then I suddenly got it, and that's how it is."

Charles said helplessly, "I have nothing in common with a talented player like you."

Jack laughed triumphantly.

Charles put the soup pot on the fire and started cooking some soup, while talking about the results of his research over the past few days: "His theory is amazing. Wizards, elves, fairies, dragons... the magic we use is essentially the same power."

His expression looked exaggerated, as if he were talking about something extremely unbelievable.

Jack smiled and said, "I don't think you'd be surprised by such a theory."

Charles, who had originally intended to lighten the mood, nodded and said, "That's right, I see familiar shadows in this theory: the Milesian school of ancient Greece's search for a single origin of the world; the 'unity of Brahman and Atman' concept in the Brahma Sutras of the Vedanta school of ancient India, which holds that 'Brahman' is the ultimate existence of magic; and the 'Tao' proposed by Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching of China, which is considered the source of magic."

"He was guided by monistic thought, believing that different magics of different races and species were like different branches growing from the same tree."

He called it "all laws share the same origin".

After listening, Jack pondered for a moment, then silently skewered the beef pieces onto barbecue skewers. After skewering five or six, he nodded and said, "He's not the only one who's come up with this idea. I've heard similar things before, but all the related research has come to an abrupt end."

"The benefits derived from the monopoly of racial magical differences are enough to stifle such research."

"We can't force them to share magic, but we can certainly unite to eliminate researchers who harm our interests."

As soon as he heard what had happened in that place, he immediately guessed who had done it.

Charles nodded slightly; everyone was smart enough to see it.

He continued, discussing his research: "He said that racial differences are simply different 'filters' we wear when we perceive and use this power, just like the same sun emitting the same light, but through different colored glass, we get all sorts of colors."

"He compared the differences between wizards and house-elves in Apparition and concluded that the underlying principles are completely the same, with only minor differences in the details."

Jack frowned slightly, looked at Charles seriously, and said, "Your door key is strange. I suggest you start from here."

Other people's door keys feel like they're being hooked in the stomach and thrown away, but this guy's door key feels like he's being kicked in the butt, making it seem like he did it on purpose.

Charles smiled as he accepted the skewers the old man offered and placed them on the charcoal fire.

After thinking for a moment, he said, "Hmm, this is a good starting point." "The fact that my door key works proves that this spatial magic also follows the same spatial movement rules."

“My spellcasting steps are textbook perfect, so the problem definitely isn’t here.”

At this moment, Jack pondered and said, "Could it be related to your origins?"

Charles nodded.

Jack continued, "I think your soul is a little different from ours, and you need to take that into account."

Charles continued nodding and said, "Well, when I have time, I'll go ask the other one."

Jack had been interested in the other soul Charles had mentioned, but the thought of having to become a woman to go there immediately dissuaded him.

Charles then moved on to another aspect: "There were even more astonishing discoveries."

"When he analyzed the forging of fairy metals, he discovered that the protective magic they infused into their weapons was essentially from the same system as the spells found somewhere else."

"It's a pity that this part was erased. Maybe that was the origin of fairies. Long ago, fairies and humans lived together, researching and using ancient and crude magic, but they eventually went their separate ways."

"I've never heard of this before; it's probably been deliberately covered up by the fairies."

Jack nodded thoughtfully, beginning to recall his experiences traveling and the characteristics of fairy magic.

After a long pause, he slowly said, "I never thought of this before, and no one has ever considered it."

"I think the fairy may have escaped from its home somewhere, which was either destroyed by natural disaster or war, so it couldn't find that place."

"At the same time, the wizards who escaped from that place lived a life with very little contact with the outside world in a remote place with inconvenient transportation, which is why their magic is not widely known."

“This history is worth studying. Once you have made some initial progress and found out the characteristics of that magic, tell me and I will go and gather people to find that place.”

Charles nodded slightly, turned the roasted potatoes over, and said, "If we can find a wizard who still uses that kind of magic, it will make the relevant research much easier with a reference."

As Jack added vegetables to the steaming pot of soup, he said seriously, "This theory offends almost everyone in the magical world, even more than that friend who researched wands that Muggles can use."

"A Muggle wand is just a voice-activated magic emitter, which can be seen as a toy. This theory shakes things that wizards cherish, such as bloodlines."

"I suspect that Slytherin was behind the murder of the researchers back then."

The grandfather and grandson, one a Hufflepuff and the other a Gryffindor, spoke ill of Slytherin without any hesitation.

“I have a concern,” Jack said. “If this gets out, it might be bad for you.”

"You can only be a thief for a thousand days, but you can't guard against thieves for a thousand days. Over time, there will always be times when you are lax, and that will be terrible."

Charles nodded; that was indeed a problem.

“It’s alright.” He thought of a solution: “Just use the results, without revealing the underlying principles.”

"When I have time, I'll build the new castle, and then I'll hide there and tinker with these things."

Seeing that he was prepared, Jack said nothing more. It was said that he had several castles, but only Gabrielle knew where they were. The earth was so big that there was nowhere to look for them.
