Liu Yanjiu's heart skipped a beat. Of course, he knew who Sun Tingting was; she was the girl Zhao Wenhao and his group had been desperately protecting. He also understood that capturing Sun Tingting meant completely severing ties with Zhao Wenhao and his group.

"Young Master Zhou, this...this might not be a good idea, right?" Liu Yanjiu stammered. "Zhao Wenhao and the others now have Zhang Beixing and Zhang Shumin helping them. Would it be...?"

"Stop nagging!" Zhou Ran interrupted him impatiently. "All I want is for you to bring Sun Tingting here. You don't need to worry about anything else. As long as you get it done, I'll forgive and forget the mistakes you made before."

Hearing this, Liu Yanjiu felt slightly relieved. He knew that Zhou Ran always kept his word, and if he could catch Sun Tingting, he might really be able to get rid of Zhou Ran's entanglement. So, he gritted his teeth and agreed.

“Alright, Young Master Zhou. I’ll go and catch Sun Tingting,” Liu Yanjiu said.

Zhou Ran nodded in satisfaction: "Very good. Remember, be careful in your actions, and whatever you do, don't let my dad find out."

After hanging up the phone, Liu Yanjiu immediately sprang into action. He gathered some of his men and secretly followed Sun Tingting. After some effort, they finally found her in a secluded place.

Sun Tingting turned pale with fright when she saw Liu Yanjiu and the others suddenly appear. She knew she couldn't escape and could only hope that Zhao Wenhao and the others would arrive in time to rescue her.

Just then, Zhou Ran appeared. He looked at Sun Tingting, who had been captured, and a smug smile appeared on his face.

"Liu Yanjiu, you did a good job," Zhou Ran said. "Now, you can leave."

Upon hearing this, Liu Yanjiu was overjoyed, thinking he could finally escape. However, before he could turn and leave, Zhou Ran suddenly spoke up again: "Wait, when did I say you could leave?"

Liu Yanjiu was startled and quickly turned to look at Zhou Ran: "Young Master Zhou, you...you didn't say..."

“I did say that I would let you go as long as you caught Sun Tingting.” Zhou Ran stared at him coldly. “But I’ve changed my mind now. I think you’d better keep your mouth shut forever.”

Liu Yanjiu was terrified: "Zhou Ran! You said you would let me go as long as you caught Sun Tingting!" he shouted, his voice filled with fear and despair.

Zhou Ran ignored his pleas for mercy, looking at him coldly as if he were a dead man.

Liu Yanjiu then realized that he had been completely manipulated by Zhou Ran. He had thought that capturing Sun Tingting would ensure his safety, but he never expected Zhou Ran to suddenly change his mind.

"Zhou Ran, you can't do this to me!" Liu Yanjiu struggled, trying to escape this terrible situation. "I've done so much for you, how can you turn your back on me after using me?"

Zhou Ran smiled coldly, approaching Liu Yanjiu step by step: "Crossing the river and then destroying the bridge? You're wrong, Liu Yanjiu. I've never treated you as a bridge; you're just a pawn in my hands. Now that you're no longer useful, I'll naturally throw you away."

Liu Yanjiu looked at Zhou Ran in despair, knowing his end was near. But he was unwilling to give up and wanted to struggle one more time.

"Zhou Ran, please spare me," Liu Yanjiu pleaded. "I promise I will never appear in front of you again, I will stay far away from you."

Zhou Ran shook his head: "Liu Yanjiu, you're too naive. Do you think I'd believe your promises? Only death would put my mind at ease with someone like you."

After speaking, Zhou Ran gave his men a wink. They immediately surrounded Liu Yanjiu and restrained him firmly. Liu Yanjiu struggled desperately, but to no avail. He knew he was completely beyond saving.

Just then, a commotion suddenly arose in the distance. Immediately afterwards, several cars sped up and stopped in front of Zhou Ran and the others. The car doors opened, and Zhao Wenhao, Zhang Beixing, and the others jumped out.

"Zhou Ran, let go of Sun Tingting!" Zhao Wenhao shouted.

Zhou Ran's expression changed slightly when he saw Zhao Wenhao and the others appear. However, he quickly regained his composure and looked at Zhao Wenhao with a cold smile.

"Zhao Wenhao, do you think you can save her in time?" Zhou Ran said. "None of you are leaving here today!"

After saying that, he gave the order to his men: "Seize them!"

The men immediately charged towards Zhao Wenhao and his group. A fierce battle quickly erupted between them. Zhao Wenhao and Zhang Beixing fought valiantly, but Zhou Ran's men outnumbered them, and they gradually found themselves at a disadvantage.

Seeing this, Zhou Ran smiled smugly. He thought he could finally get rid of Zhao Wenhao and his gang completely. However, just then, a police siren suddenly sounded in the distance. Immediately afterwards, several police cars rushed over and stopped beside the battlefield.

After getting out of the car, the police quickly subdued Zhou Ran's men and rescued Zhao Wenhao and the others. Seeing this, Zhou Ran's face turned deathly pale. He knew that this time, he was truly finished.

The police officer walked up to Zhou Ran and looked at him coldly: "Zhou Ran, you are suspected of multiple illegal and criminal acts, and we are now formally arresting you!"

After saying that, the police took out handcuffs and cuffed Zhou Ran. As Zhou Ran was being put into the police car, he looked at Zhao Wenhao and the others with disbelief, seemingly unable to understand why he had failed.

Zhao Wenhao walked up to Sun Tingting and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

Sun Tingting waved her hand and said, "I'm fine, thank you for coming to save me in time." After saying that, she looked in the direction where Zhou Ran was being led to the police car and sighed softly, "I never thought that Zhou Ran would end up like this."

Zhao Wenhao patted her shoulder and comforted her, "Don't think too much about it. He has already received the punishment he deserves." Then, he turned to Zhang Beixing and the others, "We should go back now."

Everyone nodded in agreement, and then they left together from the place where the fierce conflict had taken place. They knew that although Zhou Ran had been arrested, the struggle was not completely over, and there were still many more thorny issues waiting for them to face and resolve.

However, the story did not unfold as previously described. At that crucial moment, the plot took a dramatic turn, and Zhou Ran was not arrested by the police.

Just as Zhou Ran was about to make a move against Liu Yanjiu, his phone suddenly rang. The abrupt ringtone was particularly loud in the tense atmosphere. Zhou Ran impatiently took out his phone, and after seeing the caller ID, his expression changed slightly, and he immediately changed his mind. "Hello, Dad," Zhou Ran answered the phone, his tone tinged with panic.

A calm and authoritative voice came from the other end of the phone: "Zhou Ran, where are you now? I need to see you immediately."

Zhou Ran's heart tightened; he hadn't expected his father to call at this critical juncture. He glanced instinctively at Liu Yanjiu and Sun Tingting, who were being restrained, and then quickly made a decision.

"I'm taking care of something, I'll be right back," Zhou Ran said before hanging up the phone.

He gestured to his men, signaling them to release Liu Yanjiu and Sun Tingting. Then, he straightened his clothes and turned to leave.

Liu Yanjiu and Sun Tingting were bewildered by this sudden turn of events. They watched Zhou Ran's departing figure, their hearts filled with questions.

When Zhou Ran returned home, he found his father sitting upright on the sofa in the living room, waiting for him. Mr. Zhou's expression was serious, and his gaze was as sharp as an eagle's.

"Dad, what did you want to see me about?" Zhou Ran asked, trying to calm himself down.

President Zhou looked at him, took a deep breath, and asked, "Zhou Ran, do you know you were wrong?"

Zhou Ran was stunned for a moment, then sneered: "I'm wrong? What did I do wrong? I was just protecting my own interests."

"Protecting your own interests?" President Zhou roared. "Your so-called protecting interests means bullying classmates, extorting protection money, and even participating in illegal transactions? Doing this will only bring shame to the Zhou family!"

Zhou Ran was speechless after being rebuked by his father's words. He knew he had done many wrong things, but he had always thought his father would protect him. He never expected his father to be so angry.

“Zhou Ran, let me tell you,” President Zhou’s voice suddenly softened, “I was young once too, and I made mistakes. But I later realized that true strength is not gained by oppressing and exploiting others, but by integrity and cooperation. Do you think what you did made me happy? On the contrary, it only made me feel disappointed and heartbroken.”

Zhou Ran was deeply moved by his father's words. He had lived in his father's shadow since childhood, always yearning to surpass him and prove himself. But the way he had chosen was wrong.

"Dad, I..." Zhou Ran wanted to explain something, but found himself speechless.

Mr. Zhou looked at him, sighed, and said, "Zhou Ran, you've grown up and have your own thoughts and ways of doing things. I can't control you all the time. But you must remember that whatever you do, you must be true to your conscience and uphold your moral bottom line. If you dare to act recklessly again, don't blame me for being impolite."

Just then, there was a knock at the door. The Zhou family's nanny went to open it, and Sun Tingting and Liu Yanjiu walked in, breaking the stalemate between father and son.

Zhou Ran was startled to see Sun Tingting and Liu Yanjiu. He hadn't expected them to dare come directly to the Zhou family. What surprised him even more was that his father wasn't angry when he saw them; instead, he gestured for them to sit down.

“Uncle Zhou, we’re here to discuss terms,” Sun Tingting said calmly, looking at President Zhou. Her eyes were firm, and her tone conveyed an undeniable determination. Liu Yanjiu, standing to the side, appeared somewhat nervous. He glanced furtively at Zhou Ran before quickly lowering his head again.

Zhou Ran reached out and touched Sun Tingting's chin with interest, saying, "Oh, you've got some nerve." His tone was teasing and provocative. But Sun Tingting wasn't afraid of his provocation; she looked directly into Zhou Ran's eyes without flinching.

Zhou Ran's actions startled Sun Tingting slightly, but she quickly regained her composure, glared coldly at Zhou Ran, and then turned to look at President Zhou.

“Uncle Zhou, I hope you understand that we are not here to cause trouble.” Sun Tingting’s tone was firm and strong. “We just hope that you can restrain Zhou Ran’s behavior. What he has done has seriously affected our lives and studies.”

Mr. Zhou frowned slightly upon hearing Sun Tingting's words. He glanced at Zhou Ran, sighed, and said, "Tingting, you're right. Zhou Ran has indeed done many wrong things, and I will discipline him properly. However, I also hope you can give him a chance to reform."

Sun Tingting breathed a slight sigh of relief after hearing what President Zhou said. She knew that President Zhou was a reasonable person, and as long as he was willing to discipline Zhou Ran, there was a possibility that the matter could be resolved.

However, Zhou Ran didn't see it that way. He felt he had been suppressed by his father and Sun Tingting, and his heart was filled with resentment and dissatisfaction. He glared at Sun Tingting and sneered, "Sun Tingting, who do you think you are? What right do you have to interfere in my affairs? Let me tell you, this is not a place for you to run wild!"

After saying that, he suddenly stood up, preparing to leave the living room. Just then, President Zhou suddenly shouted to stop him: "Zhou Ran, you stop right there!"

Zhou Ran paused for a moment, then reluctantly turned around to look at his father: "Dad, is there anything else?"

Mr. Zhou's face was ashen. He walked up to Zhou Ran and said, word by word, "Zhou Ran, let me tell you, if you dare to act recklessly again, I'll disown you as my son!"

Zhou Ran was stunned by his father's words; he couldn't believe his ears. Although his father had always been strict with him, he had never spoken so harshly. He knew his father was serious; if he didn't repent, he would truly lose his family.

Thinking about this, Zhou Ran couldn't help but feel a surge of fear and regret. He knew he had done many wrong things and hurt many people. But it was too late for regrets now; he could only try to make amends for his mistakes.

Before Zhou Ran could finish speaking, President Zhou slammed his hand on the table and roared angrily, "Zhou Ran, shut up! Look at the state you're in now! Tingting and the others are not only your classmates but also your friends. How can you talk to them like that?"

Zhou Ran was startled by his father's sudden roar, staring at him with wide eyes, his face filled with disbelief. He had never seen his father so furious before, and for a moment he was flustered and at a loss for what to do.

Looking at Zhou Ran's distraught appearance, Sun Tingting couldn't help but feel a pang of pity. Although she was both angry and disappointed with Zhou Ran's behavior, she didn't want to see him end up alienated from everyone. She took a deep breath and said, "Uncle Zhou, please don't be angry. Zhou Ran was just acting on impulse. I believe he will understand our good intentions sooner or later."

Liu Yanjiu quickly chimed in, "Yes, Uncle Zhou, please don't upset yourself. Zhou Ran isn't a bad person at heart; he's just been led astray by some bad people. If we can persuade him properly, he'll definitely be able to change his ways."

However, Zhou Ran didn't appreciate the gesture at all, and sneered, "Stop pretending! I don't need your sympathy or pity! You just want to see me make a fool of myself, don't you? Let me tell you, I, Zhou Ran, am not so easily bullied!"

After saying that, he turned to walk out of the living room, but was stopped in his tracks by a furious shout from President Zhou: "Zhou Ran, you stop right there! If you dare to step out of this house today, don't even think about coming back!" (End of this chapter)
