Chapter 727 19 Interlude: New and Old Hatred Begins
Chapter 727 19. Interlude: New and old grudges are settled together
"Your fear?"
"Yeah, my fear."
In the darkness, two voices were talking. The former hissed, with dissatisfaction and curiosity. The latter also hissed, but sounded unusually calm, as if the person speaking was not a living being.
"This is really strange..." The former chuckled strangely. "In my memory, you are fearless."
The latter did not laugh, but just said: "Actually, I am afraid of many things."
"for example?"
The latter did not answer, he just walked out of the darkness. They made tiny noises of reluctance, clinging to the armor and not wanting to leave, but the latter had made up his mind.
They soon realized this, so they could only helplessly transfer more power through the remaining link, as loyal as the hunter's hounds.
The latter was completely indifferent.
He raised his head, stretched his body a little, and sent a signal to the battleship under his feet to go home. The sound of the wind suddenly sounded, surrounding the empty room, sounding like a shrill roar. But the truth was that the wind was actually just a kind of intimate welcome.
The Nightfall was delighted with his arrival.
Khalil smiled behind his twisted visor, but the Nightfall remained eager.
In the wind, it told many things in one breath, such as the changes in Nostramo in recent years, who Yago Sevitarion was angry with, and how many traitor and alien warships it had destroyed - it said a lot, and spoke very quickly, but still did not forget to issue an invitation at the end.
Come back, Nightfall begged. Let us avenge them, ten thousand years of mourning is long enough.
I'd like to, but now is not the time.
But you're back.
Yes, there is something that is owed to many people, and now I am going to get it back.
Can I go?
Sorry, no, but I'll take you next time.
it is good!
The sound of the wind died away, and the two golden doors in front of him opened instantly. Khalil thanked it silently and walked down the platform slowly.
Behind him floated a dark fragment, which had been carefully placed here for the past ten thousand years.
The people here regard it as a small hope that must be protected, and never thought that its owner would use it as a slightly special transmission beacon.
He walked out of the door, and the deck beneath his feet bulged slightly, giving him a reminder and an inquiry. Khalil narrowed his eyes and looked at the group of black shadows running at the end of the corridor, and thanked them in his heart.
Let them come, I want to see them with my own eyes.
The Nightfall obeyed silently.
He stood there, waiting calmly - just one second later, the first black shadow stopped instantly, the lightning claws on his hands were still emitting terrifying electric light, but his steps had definitely stopped.
Starting with him, the running black shadows stopped one after another, staring at the tall skeleton in the dim light, silent. It was not until a few minutes later that another person came from the end of the corridor, and their silence disappeared.
But the man who came over was not wearing power armor, but a very messy uniform. The sleeves were pushed to the elbows, the jacket was casually open, and the white shirt was wrinkled.
He even walked slowly, and it was all due to the two slabs of stone he held in his hands, at which he was glaring.
After another half a minute, he finally walked in front of the skeleton, then looked up at him.
"I have to say, I'm more accustomed to you looking like this." Yago Sevitarion shrugged, a smile appearing on his pale face.
"And I have almost never seen you like this." The skeleton replied, his voice like a loud bell, colliding in the corridor, creating a thunderous muffled sound. The dark shadows behind Sevatar couldn't help but be stunned for a moment by the sound.
"How come I haven't seen it before? Haven't I handled these damn documents in front of you before?"
"Yes, but I have never been so tired. But I do remember you muttering in a dead voice in front of them that you would rather fight Sigismund ten more times."
Sevatar snorted coldly.
"You seem to be senile, as you remember all these things so clearly. Well, anyway, my clerical staff and I haven't had a break for a month, dear instructor. After returning from Terrama, I have to face all the documents that have been piled up in the past few years since I was away from Nostramo. Do you understand how busy I am now?"
"Fully understand."
"Very well, then, I shall make amends."
In front of his brothers in the regiment, Sevatar said this as if no one was around, but his tone was justified, as if the skeleton in front of him owed him something.
His attitude and words caused a certain degree of commotion among the shadows, but it did not last long because the skeleton actually expressed his agreement.
"What kind of compensation? I'll do whatever I can, Cy."
"You remember this nickname now, why don't you continue to call me Yago?" The street kid from Nostradamus sneered and shook his head. "But I really haven't figured out what I should get from you yet."
"I can make a suggestion."
"Please go ahead." Sevatar tilted his head with a smile. "I'm very curious about your suggestion."
The skeleton raised his right hand, signaling him to wait for a moment, then turned around and faced the other side of the corridor as if waiting for something. There, a sweaty investigator was walking towards this side, being dragged by a cloak behind him.
"Long time no see, Mr. Tujiea." The skeleton nodded to him and greeted him. "I hope Lalhe didn't cause you too much trouble."
After he finished speaking, the investigator walked up to him. He gave a dry smile, swallowed what he wanted to say in the threat of the trembling cloak, and turned those words into a nod.
The skeleton looked at him sternly - or rather, at the cloak behind him, and stretched out his right hand.
It immediately coiled up and returned to the back it was most familiar with, giving birth to a burst of deep blue light, and its color also quietly changed. Scarlet, black and dull gold bloomed together, creating an indescribable majestic scene.
The investigator looked at him in awe, but still relieved. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, smiled sincerely, saluted, bowed, turned around and left in one go.
The skeleton turned around and looked at Yago Sevitarion. The latter's expression had become serious at this moment, no longer showing the frivolous and playful look from before.
"What are you going to do?" he asked slowly and seriously.
The skeleton raised his hands and pulled the cloak over his hands, so that it completely covered his hands as before. With just this one move, something changed in an instant.
The corridor began to creak, and this haunted warship for ten thousand years began to play the war song in its own way. Steel roared, lights went out, and black ice spread out from under the skeleton's feet, making him look as if he was standing in another world.
The shadows behind Sevatar began to stir again. "I'm going to join a war," the skeleton replied solemnly.
"What kind of war?"
The skeleton didn't answer, but just stretched out his right hand towards him.
Sevatar lowered his head, wanting to think, but he saw some familiar shadows in the spreading ice. Even at the junction of reality and illusion, their shapes were still eerie and terrifying, with spiral horns and empty eye sockets burning with anger.
An ordinary person would be terrified by this scene, even an Astartes would fall into temporary doubt and hesitation, but Sevatar did not.
He didn't even realize he was smiling.
He looked up.
"Can I join?" he asked, with obvious excitement that made his voice sound so deep that it almost sounded like a growl.
The Skull laughed that same deep laugh from behind his mask.
"Of course, Sai," he replied gently. "The Eighth Legion always moves in groups."
As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared from the spot, and the ice was completely wrapped in a flame. With a dull sound like breaking bones, the ice was melted bit by bit and turned into an altar.
Sevatar turned around and roared, "Shadrius!"
The shadow who had stopped first walked out of the queue, his lightning claws hanging down at his sides, and his face under the iron halo was full of expectations that did not match his service time. Sevatar knew what he wanted to ask at a glance, so he made a direct gesture of denial.
The Midnight Blade Second Captain's face quickly fell.
"Damn it—he only invited me!" Sevatar gave him a sinister smile. "You heard it clearly, you all heard it clearly, so don't act like I've done something wrong again!"
"But," the second captain said in a muffled voice. "The instructor also said that the Eighth Army always moves in groups."
"Yes, the Eighth Legion has always been like this - but what does that have to do with you, Your Excellency, Captain of the Second Company of the Chapter?"
Shadrius's face quickly turned livid, but Sevatar burst into laughter. He approached him and suddenly grabbed his shoulders with such force that even the second captain in the Terminator armor was shaken.
He leaned close to Shadrius' ear and spoke slowly in a tone so soft that it was almost gentle.
"Listen, I don't mean to belittle you, little brother, but the term Eighth Legion represents something you cannot understand. Let me give you an example - all members of the Eighth Legion are actually dead, including him and me. In other words, we are now going to fight a war that only dead people can participate in."
"So, will you come back?" Shadrius asked suddenly.
Sevatar nodded firmly at him and handed him the two stone tablets.
"I am a Legacy, but I am also the Chapter's original creator, so of course I'll be back after this fight to kick the ass of you lazy bums who never do their paperwork."
"Take care of the house, Shadrius, and go to Orlac if you have any problems. The night watch isn't over yet, and it will take some time for them to return. Nostramo is counting on you now."
The second captain hugged the two stone slabs tightly, as if they weighed a thousand pounds. He nodded heavily, and the shadows behind him saluted in unison.
Sevatar bowed with a smile, then tore off his coat, turned around and jumped into the altar. The flames rose high and he disappeared into it, but the altar still existed.
Shadrius took a few steps forward and came to the edge of the altar. With extremely terrifying self-control, he held himself down and did not move forward any further.
He lowered his head and stared at the ice.
He saw their war captain walk into a pale wasteland with his head held high. The sky here was as deep as a raging flame, and there were groups of demons lurking on the ground. Some were tall, some were thin, some had humanoid and some had animal faces. The only thing that remained unchanged was perhaps the pair of spiral horns on their heads and the dark red eyes.
And Yago Sevitarion, unarmed and wearing only a thin shirt, was striding into them.
His face was filled with a smile, and his steps were steady and confident, as if he belonged here and was one of the demons.
And they actually welcomed him. One after another, they patted him on the shoulder or nodded in greeting, and their gloomy bone faces and ferocious animal heads rarely showed some peaceful kindness, and some even looked indebted.
Shadrius was almost dazzled as he stared at them, trying to identify them, trying to see their former names from the features. He was so focused, as if possessed, that it was only several seconds later that he realized that his company had also walked over and were staring at the altar.
"Go back!" the second captain yelled. "The Chapter Master has just entrusted us with the responsibility, and you are getting carried away? Today is a duty day! Go back and stand guard!"
No one paid any attention to him, only his adjutant shook his head and made a gang gesture he had learned from somewhere, meaning, you'd better look at your ugly face before you speak.
Shadrius smiled instead of getting angry and continued to stare at the ice.
He saw Yago Sevitarion walk to the center of the demons and to the bottom of a pale staircase.
A ten-meter-tall white-haired demon was kneeling on one knee, leaning on a sword and waiting on the right side of the stairs. On the left side of the stairs, standing opposite it was a humanoid demon with blade-like bat wings, with fine dark red lines spreading from its eye sockets to its entire face.
Going further up, there is the tall skeleton and at the end of the stairs, there is a black-robed ghost standing in front of a pitch-black door with its back to everything.
Yago Sevitarion walked forward slowly.
First Captain Van Cleef whispered his name, and Librarian Fel Zharost raised his right hand, causing countless swords and weapons buried deep in the wasteland of bones to fly out in a mighty force.
The flames flashed and shaped them into a suit of MK4 power armor without a helmet and attached it to Sevatar's body.
Instructor Caryl Rohals held up a pale bone mask and put it on him.
Just like that, he finally reached the end of the stairs.
Shadrius held his breath.
Conrad Curz turned and smiled, and the door opened behind him, revealing a rotten, twisted, and morbid garden.
A fire of rage blazed beneath his feet.
"Go," he said softly. "Let them know why we are here."
A power sword rose from the flames under his feet and was held in the hand of Yago Sevitarion. He raised the sword, roared, and rushed into the garden first.
The battle cry rang out, transcending the constraints of time, space and everything, and truly reached Shadrius' ears.
"We're here for you!"
