Chapter 636 A Surprising Gain 2

Chapter 636 A Surprising Gain 2
Green came to Sansa’s side and examined the painting she was pointing to: “Riverrun is a beautiful castle. Most of its territory is fertile farmland, and with the Tengshi River and the Red Fork River, it is enough to feed hundreds of thousands of people.”

He sighed: "War is too cruel. As far as I know, only tens of thousands of starving people remain in Flowing City. With the long winter approaching, I wonder how many of them will be lucky enough to survive."

Upon hearing this, a mist welled up in Sansa's eyes.

She clasped her hands together and said sadly, "Oh, what should they do? May the gods have mercy on the helpless."

“The merciful gods will surely protect them.”

Green shifted his gaze from the scroll in Riverrun and continued, “As the King of the Seven Kingdoms, I have a responsibility to prevent tragedies from happening to people. However, after the long winter arrives, I will protect the entire Seven Kingdoms, not just one place within them.”

He moved his feet slowly: "The North, the Reach, Dorne, and the Iron Islands all have the power to protect their people, while my direct territories... especially the Riverlands, which are almost ruins and are now like a gold-devouring beast, constantly devouring the little resources left in the Vale, the Old Kingdom, and the Stormlands."

Green stopped in front of a painting of a banquet, depicting Lady Caitlin as a young girl, with the Tully family all present, in a cheerful and warm atmosphere.

He slowly put his hands behind his back: "Once upon a time, no one did not envy the glory of the Tully family."

Green's sudden remark startled Sansa, who was still pondering what he had just said.

A standard ladylike smile quickly appeared on her face as she looked at the painting: "My mother told me that she spent the happiest years of her teenage years in Riverrun."

With a swirling of her skirt, Sansa looked up at Grimm: "My mother also told me that it was you who saved Riverrun and Tully, and she told me... never to forget."

Brown eyes met blue eyes, and Grimm smiled slightly: "Baratheon and Lannister will eventually be forgotten, and so will Arryn. The brutal war of seventeen years ago has finally come to a not-too-brutal end."

Sansa's face flushed slightly: "Your Majesty, you are the savior of the Seven Kingdoms."

Green was slightly taken aback at first, then looked up and smiled: "Miss Beautiful's praise is indeed delightful."

Despite her nervousness, Sansa wore a girlish, innocent smile and teased, "The cruelest thing is that my praise is based on a fact known to all seven kingdoms: you are now the most charming knight in the seven kingdoms."

Upon hearing this, Green looked up and smiled again.

Before they knew it, their conversation had become more intimate. After admiring the paintings, they went to the jewelry display stand, where Sansa gently opened one of the ornate little wooden boxes.

The lid was lifted, revealing a huge set of purple gemstone jewelry, lying there gleaming.

"I have heard that your wife has the most beautiful purple eyes in the seven kingdoms, and I hope that they will be worthy of matching the Queen's beauty."

Sansa's voice carried a hint of sadness: "It is said that this set of jewelry was given to me by my grandfather after he heard of Queen Rella..."
A gift (specially prepared by Dani's mother) for her child when she was pregnant.

Green's eyes twitched slightly. The timeline didn't match up. The previous Duke of Winterfell died in 282 AC, while Daenerys was born in 284 AC.

However, this is not important; it can be considered a white lie.

and also.

Sansa has indeed grown a lot since her trip to King's Landing, but her performance today was a bit too mature.

Lady Catelyn, she favored Sansa Stark.

If it's about the right to inherit Riverrun, it's also possible that Sansa's age is more reassuring.

After all, the other daughter, who carries the blood of a trout, is still too young.

"We have Duke Laurecard."

Hearing Green's sentiments, Sansa placed her small hands on her lower abdomen and said politely and sincerely, "My lord, please allow the Starks the honor of presenting this belated gift to the Targaryen Queen."

……

Stepping out of the collection room, Sansa naturally took Green's arm and then asked shyly, "Your Majesty, I'm a little worried about my great-uncle. Even with your support, will Riverrun struggle to survive the long winter?"

"It's because I can't provide enough support."

As he walked, Green said frankly, "My Riverlands vassals all need my support, and given some past issues of political stance, in order to be impartial, I cannot show too much favoritism towards Riverrun."

After a pause, he continued, "For the sake of the Tully people, I think I will discuss the matter with Lord Ned after Lord Bryndon arrives at Winterfell, because only the Starks can rightfully support the Tully."

Sansa paused, then blinked. "Your Majesty, may I tell Lady Catelyn about this?"

Green shrugged: "Of course."

Upon hearing this, Sansa's lips curved slightly: "Thank you." After preparing for several days, Sansa felt that today's gains were surprisingly abundant; the new king of the Seven Kingdoms was closer to her than she had expected.

She could sense that... the king's kindness was not because of her beauty; he was full of goodwill towards Stark.

The mother's judgment was correct; this was a rare opportunity for her to establish a friendship with King Green.

Originally, the only plan for this morning was to visit the Stark family's collection room.

But at this moment, Sansa was a little reluctant to leave. Perhaps... she should invite King Green for a cup of tea.

Besides deepening our friendship, another reason is that chatting with Green is a very pleasant and comfortable experience.

Sansa also harbored a little selfish motive. Ever since she had seen those elegant and handsome Southern knights in King's Landing, she simply couldn't accept those rude First Men nobles.

Although King Green was also a descendant of the First Men, he was elegant and handsome, able to soothe her "painful" young heart.

As Sansa was chatting and laughing softly, just as she was about to invite Green, a voice she disliked suddenly came from the front.

"Green!"

Arya jogged over, pulling Rick along with her. Sansa rolled her eyes inwardly, as was her habit; her sister was indeed very annoying.

Lady Sansa smiled and gently corrected, "Arya, please address her as Your Majesty."

"That hypocritical Sansa is so annoying," Arya pouted. "It's Grimm who gave me permission to call her that."

Then, ignoring Sansa, she skipped around and said, "Green, Rickon and I built a huge snowman."

Little Rickon, his face red from the cold, gestured and said, "Your Majesty, it's a very, very big snowman."

Arya was about to pull Green away when she made a rather insincere invitation: "Miss Sansa, would you like to come and take a look too?"

Sansa forced a smile at her sister: "I have to go. Have fun."

The wonderful "date" plan was thus interrupted...

Once they disappeared from sight, Sansa couldn't help but stomp her foot.

She's going to tell her mom!
……

It's approaching noon.

Tyrion, who was sleeping soundly in the pigsty, was finally awakened by the stench. When he struggled to open his eyes, he saw a blurry figure leaning against a pillar.

"Good day, Your Excellency Tyrion."

A lewd voice came from behind him. Tyrion sat up, tossed aside the wriggling piglet, and yawned, "I didn't freeze to death?"

Sir Bronn grinned: "I covered you with a blanket, and then, still feeling uneasy, I brought you a little pig."

"You've really worked hard."

Tyrion struggled to his feet, moving his stiff and aching body. "I suggest you take me directly to the hotel next time. That might be much easier."

Upon hearing this, Sir Bronn's smile deepened: "You rejected all the beauties last night, and you swore you would sleep with a pig."

Tyrion shook his head, looking suspicious. "Won't anyone stop me?"

Bronn laughed heartily: "You are a legendary assassin renowned throughout the Seven Kingdoms, no one dares to stop you."

Tyrion slowly stretched: "I don't really like this nickname anymore."

As he spoke, he planned to climb over the fence, but after a moment's thought, he decided to take a few more steps and bend down to walk out of the pigsty, which reeked of excrement and urine, through the small gate.

Tyrion casually patted his clothes: "Bron, have you made up your mind?"

"No need to consider it."

Ser Bronn wore a fawning expression: "Wherever you go, I will be there. I will always be your man, Lord Tyrion."
