My Healing Games

Chapter 23 My Hide-and-Seek Game

Chapter 23 My Hide-and-Seek Game

Han Fei only has the old man as a friend in the entire building. He went to great lengths to raise Meng Shi's friendship level, and if something happens to her, all his previous efforts will be in vain.

"I've already trapped the crying girl, so that room should be safe. Could it be that Chenchen isn't in room 1034?"

Han Fei grabbed a kitchen knife and ran up to the third floor. The security door, covered with talismans, was fully opened, but the old man was nowhere to be seen.

"Grandma? Chenchen?" Han Fei put his hand, which was wearing the landlord's ring, into the house. The ring on his hand did not react much, which meant that the house was safe.

After hesitating for a moment, he slowly entered room 1034 and looked at the dilapidated furniture in the room.

The room was also covered with talismans—on the floor, walls, and ceiling—making the whole room seem as if it were sealed off by talismans.

"This looks way too creepy! Even the haunted house I lived in wasn't this bad!"

Han Fei was very cautious: "Something's not right. The kid who came to my house didn't seem very strong. He's not worthy of such a show of force. There might be something else inside."

Although the ring didn't react, Han Fei still decided to back out first. But as he moved backward, he suddenly realized that the door to room 1034 had been closed at some point.

Cold sweat instantly broke out on Han Fei's forehead, and he froze on the spot: "No way?"

He had just locked the child in the bedroom, and now he himself was locked in room 1034. What goes around comes around, and Han Fei was utterly devastated.

"What should we do? Should we ask Wei Youfu to bring the child over to exchange for the hostage? The problem is, Wei Youfu and his men are unlikely to listen to me! Besides, that child might have already been reincarnated by now."

Standing there, Han Fei, clinging to his last hope, turned the doorknob. The security door wasn't locked, but he just couldn't open it.

"They have no shame at all, even as ghosts they still resort to underhanded tactics."

After pausing at the door for more than ten seconds, Han Fei finally calmed down.

"The landlord's ring still hasn't gotten cold, which is probably the only good news right now."

There is something ominous in the house, but the other party has not revealed its presence and has hidden itself for some reason.

Han Fei knew he couldn't leave for the time being, so his mind started racing as he glanced around the room out of the corner of his eye.

"The windows are completely boarded up and covered with talismans, so jumping out of the window won't work. Room 1034 is right below the haunted house I live in. If I make a lot of noise here, the residents in the building will probably react."

Han Fei glanced at the gas stove and quietly shifted his gaze to the kitchen: "This house has been uninhabited for a long time, so the gas has probably been shut off. Even if it hasn't, if a big explosion happens, I'll definitely be the first one to die."

Han Fei considered every possible method, but in the end, he helplessly realized that he seemed unable to escape no matter what he did.

"I can leave the game now, but the problem is that when I log back in, I'll still be in this room, and then I won't be able to escape."

Cheer up, Han Fei decided to take advantage of the fact that he could log out of the game at any time to thoroughly explore the room.

Since there's no way to escape it anyway, let's just take it one step at a time and see what happens.

Han Fei covered the pendant the old man had given him around his neck and slowly moved around the living room.

He dared not make a sound and moved as slowly as possible.

This room, covered in talismans, was rather frightening. There were grains of white rice scattered on the floor, and altars or similar items were placed in the corners. Occasionally, you could see torn paper figures.

Those shattered faces were covered in various paints, and just looking at them sent chills down your spine.

What exactly happened in room 1034? Why is that child called "Crying"?

With something on his mind, Han Fei pushed open the bedroom door.

The old, rusty door hinges creaked and groaned. Just as Han Fei was about to enter the house, a blindfolded child grabbed his waist.

"Got you!"

"Chenchen?" Han Fei stared at the blindfolded child at the door, then looked into the bedroom, where Meng Shi lay unconscious on the floor, her tattered clothes covered with the child's handprints.

"I've finally caught you!"

Chenchen laughed happily, but Han Fei raised his hand and slapped him on the back of the head: "You still have the mind to play here?"

After tearing off the cloth covering Chenchen's eyes, Han Fei realized the problem: Chenchen's eyes were only white, and he looked like he was possessed, appearing terrifying.

"I've got you! It's your turn to be the ghost! It's your turn to be the ghost... It's your turn to be the ghost!"

Chenchen kept repeating this sentence, her voice getting louder and louder, until it echoed in the room, as if other people were also repeating it.

Han Fei tried to cover Chenchen's mouth, but even if he did, the sound would still be heard in the room. To make matters worse, the ring on Han Fei's hand began to emit a chill!
The ghost is coming!
A chilling aura emanated from all directions. Han Fei shielded Chenchen and the unconscious Meng Shi behind him and turned to look around.

"It's your turn to be the ghost, it's your turn to be the ghost..."

The altar in the corner was overturned, wet handprints appeared on the wall, and the paper face on the ground seemed to be smiling happily.

Soon Han Fei saw a pale hand emerge from the wardrobe, followed by half a pale face.

Footsteps echoed in the empty living room. A round head peeked out from behind the television, and a little girl with a ponytail crawled out from behind the sofa.

Eerie sounds kept coming from the shoe cabinet, the kitchen, the canvas, the curtains, and the quilt. One by one, the children with pale skin and only the whites of their eyes slowly crawled out.

Han Fei was having trouble breathing; his legs were weak, and he had to lean against the wall to avoid falling.

These children all seem to be missing children from the neighborhood. There are so many of them that it's terrifying!

The air inside the room seemed to freeze, and all the children looked at Han Fei.

This breathtaking scene almost killed Han Fei; his heart was pounding in his throat.

The children's voices gradually subsided, and a harsh cry rang out in the room. Looking towards the sound, Han Fei discovered a dark figure crouching in the corner of the room.

The dark figure was not tall, and he was different from the other children in the room.

"Was he the one who was truly crying?"

One by one, the children entered the bedroom, each holding a blindfold. They stared intently into Han Fei's eyes, repeatedly saying, "It's your turn to be the ghost."

Han Fei had not agreed, when one of the children suddenly lunged at him, his sharp fingernails aimed directly at Han Fei's eyes!

If you don't want to wear the cloth strips, then you have to go blind?
A pair of small hands grabbed Han Fei's clothes, preventing him from moving. Now Han Fei could only watch as the finger grew larger and larger in his pupils.

Everything seemed to be predetermined, but just as Han Fei felt the pain, the amulet around his neck suddenly made a crisp sound, and a chilling aura burst forth instantly.

"Oh!"

The child who was about to gouge out Han Fei's eyes fell to the ground. He clutched his broken finger and cried loudly. The other children were so frightened that they let go of his hand.

"Was it Grandma's amulet that saved me?" Han Fei looked down and saw that the amulet around his neck was full of cracks, and it would probably break after one more use.

"What should I do? They'll discover the secret of the amulet sooner or later! I have to find a way to escape as soon as possible!"

A faint crying sound reached my ears. The dark figure had entered the bedroom at some point. It seemed to represent the darkness and coldness of the entire room. It was the one that was truly "crying"!
While the other children hesitated to step forward, it silently stared at Han Fei, then picked up the blindfold from the ground and held it out to Han Fei.

Meng Shi's talisman can only be used once more. Han Fei knows that even if he refuses to "cry," he cannot change his situation. Every nerve in his body is taut. He knows very well that this is the most critical moment.

Han Fei neither reached out to take the "crying" cloth nor refused to play hide-and-seek. After thinking for a moment, a wicked and cruel smile slowly appeared on his face.

Crouching down, Han Fei brought his face close to the shadowy figure: "Ordinary hide-and-seek isn't fun, how about we play something bigger?"

With one hand in his pocket, Han Fei's slightly sickly face revealed a hint of infatuation, his eyes brimming with barely suppressed excitement: "In a typical game of hide-and-seek, one ghost tries to catch everyone else. Today, let's turn it around, and all of you ghosts will try to catch me!"

With a smirk, Han Fei's face was almost touching the shadowy figure: "I'm betting my life. If you can find me within an hour, you can do whatever you want with my life. If you can't find me, then you'll have to do three things for me."

With malice and madness burning in his eyes, and the chilling aura that had just erupted from the amulet not yet completely dissipated, Han Fei made the little ghosts feel like they were one of them.

The room gradually quieted down. After an unknown amount of time, the dark figure nodded and led all the little ghosts out of the bedroom.

Han Fei helped Meng Shi and Chenchen out as well. He placed Meng Shi and Chenchen at the living room door, his smile becoming increasingly distorted, his body trembling with excitement: "If you can't find me in this house, you can check the other neighbors' houses in this building. Consider this my hint to you."

When all the little devils and shadowy figures turned around, Han Fei walked to the living room door. He turned the doorknob again, but the door still wouldn't open.

"What an interesting bunch of kids." Han Fei looked down at all the children in the room. "Remember our bet, and do your best to find me!"

With the most cruel and evil expression on his face, he laughed unrestrainedly: "Now, the game begins!"

Han Fei opened the properties panel and chose to exit the game.

The world turned blood red, and the world spun around. When Han Fei opened his eyes again, he ripped off his game helmet.

Soaked in sweat, Han Fei clutched his hair frantically, his eyes bloodshot.

"Oh no, oh no, I really messed up this time!"
