Chapter 503 The Person Players and NPCs Afraid Of (Third Update, Seeking Monthly Tickets)
After Han Fei walked past them, Yan Tang and Tie Nan finally realized what had happened. They stared at the messy bedroom, unsure of what to say.
Did a ghost just come out of the mirror?
“I think I understand Brother Youfu’s thinking. It’s hard to kill a ghost in a mirror, so he uses himself as bait to lure the ghost out to kill it.”
"How can that be called killing? That's called redemption."
"Yes, yes, redemption."
After his neighbors absorbed the yin energy from the videotape, Han Fei, seeing that there was nothing else in the house that he could use, prepared to leave.
"Sister, why don't you go first?" As soon as Han Fei came out of the bedroom, he noticed that something was wrong with Aunt Li. He wanted to see if the person locked up in the clinic was really Aunt Li's husband.
Actually, the old lady's eyes had already started to look blank, but when she turned her head and saw Han Fei carrying a female ghost and crashing to the ground, she was startled and seemed to become much more clear-headed.
"His voice is ringing in my ears, he seems..." The woman turned to look at Han Fei, "He seems to want me to stay away from you?"
Han Fei raised an eyebrow slightly. He felt somewhat innocent. Whether it was the glass cat in reality or the ghost calling for the old lady, these people seemed to have misunderstood Han Fei and thought he was a very dangerous person.
"We are all players, so we would never harm you. You need to judge carefully now and not be deceived by the other ghosts in the building."
“You are all good kids. Without you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. I know that in my heart.” Aunt Li was understanding, and her eyes were full of gratitude as she looked at the three young people.
As she stepped out of the room, the woman stopped after a few steps, looking at the dilapidated stairwell: "Was there a mirror in that place before?"
Han Fei and his two companions looked in the direction the old woman was pointing. The mirrors that had been crowding the clinic slowly appeared in the aisle, as if they had grown legs and would move when no one was around.
"I really want to smash them all." Han Fei could feel the lingering yin energy emanating from the altar. The neighbors only acted this way when they encountered something particularly dangerous. Last time at the hotel, when everyone was trapped in a ghostly maze, none of the neighbors gave Han Fei such a warning.
"It's better to keep a low profile on someone else's turf." As Han Fei abandoned the idea of smashing all the mirrors, the yin energy emanating from the altar also diminished somewhat: "Do I look like the kind of impulsive person? Are you still worried about me?"
A person was holding the altar and speaking, with a hint of "doting" in their tone. The scene was somewhat frightening, but Tie Nan and Yan Tang were slowly getting used to it.
Bringing a spirit altar to the clinic late at night seems acceptable; since you're already carrying the altar, it doesn't seem like there's any problem with saying a few words to it.
“The mirror is moving. Look closely at the people in the mirror; they seem to be closer to the surface. I think we should speed things up, or something bad might happen.” Before Yan Tang finished speaking, the dim yellow light above their heads went out, and hurried footsteps came from upstairs, as if someone was being chased.
"Let's go upstairs and take a look." Han Fei now truly felt that Yan Tang was a talented person. Even before changing jobs, her talent alone was already enough to help him.
Stepping onto the stairs where cement fragments kept falling, Han Fei arrived at the second floor of the residential building. All the doors on both sides of the corridor were open, and there was no blood on the ground or any debris.
Why were there footsteps?
Entering the room near the stairs, the interior layout was similar to the rooms downstairs, except that there was a large pile of business cards scattered on the floor.
Han Fei picked up a business card at random. The number on the card had been crossed out with a red pen, and a red cross had been drawn over the name.
"Does every business card that's been marked mean the owner is dead?" Yan Tang squatted down next to Han Fei, picked up a few business cards and looked at them. "Why are most of them moving companies and locksmiths?"
He turned to look at the door: "This broken door doesn't seem to need repair. Is the homeowner planning to move out?"
With too few clues, Yantang couldn't analyze anything.
"Let me give it a try." Among the pile of business cards, Han Fei found a very special one. The business card was brand new and had no traces of smearing on it.
Han Fei took Firefly's phone out of his inventory and tried dialing the number on the business card.
He hadn't had much hope, but the call went through soon enough. However, he felt that the other person's voice wasn't coming from the phone, but rather appearing directly in his mind.
"Don't hang up, please, please don't hang up," a girl's sobbing voice came from the phone, almost pleading.
"Have you encountered any difficulties?" Han Fei drew his Rebirth Blade, gave Yan Tang and Tie Nan a look, and told them to check the room.
"I was deceived. They locked me in a dark room, and I could hardly breathe..."
"Take your time, don't rush. Is there anything unusual around you? If it's pitch black, feel around and see what you can touch." Han Fei was very patient, wanting to pinpoint the other person's location.
"There's nothing around. I haven't seen the light in a long time. I'm all alone here." The girl started crying as she spoke, looking extremely sad.
"Do you remember how you were brought to that place?" Han Fei gestured to Yan Tang, telling him to look at the bedroom and also to keep an eye on the hallway.
"All I know is that I received a phone call in the middle of the night. It must be the phone itself that's causing the problem. It keeps harassing me and asking me questions. I'm going crazy!" The girl's voice became harsh.
"Tell me everything you remember. The more detailed your story, the better likely I am to find you," Han Fei reassured the girl on the phone.
“My dad lost his job, and the place we used to rent was too expensive, so we moved to a very remote residential building. The landlady is very kind. She reduced our rent and said that the room was already furnished with all kinds of furniture, so we could move in right away.”
“We were both very happy at the time. After living there for a while, Dad found a new job and the family had income again. However, Dad started to work night shifts frequently.”
“When I’m home alone at night, I always turn on all the lights, close the bedroom door, and curl up in bed.”
"Nothing happened at first, but about a week later, the landline would ring at midnight every night, right on time."
“Every time I answered the phone, a child’s voice would come through the receiver, saying that he would die if I didn’t listen to him!”
"I thought it was just some kid playing a prank, so I ignored him. But then he started to escalate the situation and called me several times every night."
"I got angry and unplugged the phone line. Then the thing that really scared me happened: even after I unplugged the phone line, the phone kept ringing."
"No matter where I hide the phone, the ringing will echo throughout the house, and the ringing sound is like a constant urging."
"I couldn't take it anymore, so I threw the phone out the window."
"I thought they definitely wouldn't come looking for me this time, but who knew the phone would ring again in the house."
As the girl finished speaking, Yan Tang had already walked to Han Fei's side. He made a phone call gesture to Han Fei, as if to say that he had searched everywhere, but there was no phone or girl in the house.
Han Fei nodded and continued chatting with the girl: "The phone has been thrown away, so why is it still ringing inside?"
“I don’t know either. I was terrified and covered myself with the blanket, but it didn’t help at all. I felt like the ringing had gotten into the blanket.” The girl continued, her voice trembling with tears. “In the end, I didn’t know what to do, so I mustered up my courage, got out of bed, and started looking for it in the room.”
When the girl finished speaking on the phone, Han Fei and Yan Tang both heard the phone ring. The sudden ringing of the phone made the players tense up instantly.
"The ringing sound first came from the bedroom."
Han Fei looked towards the bedroom; the ringing they had heard was also coming from there.
"Later, the bell rang louder and louder. I walked along the wooden bed, listening intently to the bell in the darkness." The girl's voice seemed to be gradually fading, but she was still crying very sadly.
Han Fei took out the Rebirth Blade, and he and several other players entered the bedroom.
I walked along the edge of the bed and stopped in front of a locked wardrobe.
I walked around, stopping frequently, and finally stood uncertainly in front of the wardrobe. The ringing seemed to be coming from inside. I strongly suspected there was a child hiding inside, and with immense unease, I slowly opened the wardrobe...
The girl's voice grew softer and softer, while the phone rang louder and louder, making it impossible for Han Fei to hear what the other person was saying.
Holding the altar, Han Fei smashed the lock on the wardrobe, tore off the seal, and reached out to open the wardrobe.
Inside the locked wardrobe was an old dressing mirror, facing the wardrobe door. The mirror was completely black, with only a little girl holding a phone, staring at Han Fei with her white eyes wide open.
"Thank you for saving me." The girl's mouth was instantly torn open, revealing a lot of blood. She spoke into the microphone in her hand, saying in an extremely cruel voice, "It's your turn to come to this room."
The darkness in the mirror surged out like a river bursting its banks, and the girl stretched out her hands, as if she could finally escape the mirror.
Darkness loomed ahead, and the shadow beneath Han Fei's feet began to writhe rapidly as a gigantic black python leaped out.
It opened its mouth wide, not only swallowing the darkness surging from the mirror, but also biting the mirror with unsatisfied desire, stretching its body into the mirror!
The monster's true form is unknown; it seems to be able to devour even the room reflected in the mirror!
A giant python appeared in the already cramped room. The girl huddled in the corner, clutching her phone, her body trembling. Just then, the phone in her arms rang again.
Instinctively, she picked up the phone, and a man's cold and terrifying voice rang in her ears.
"If you don't listen to me, you will die!"
The nightmare from years ago resurfaced, and the same words echoed in her ears once more. The girl threw down the phone and turned to look out the mirror.
Han Fei was holding his phone, dialing her number again and again.
