My Healing Games
Chapter 555 I've been killed by her several times
Chapter 555 I've been killed by her several times
Fu Sheng is the most crucial person in the entire shrine memory world. When Han Fei heard that Fu Sheng hadn't gone to school, he immediately became nervous.
Without any hesitation, Han Fei prepared to head to the school.
After getting into the taxi, Han Fei called the property management office of his residential complex again, hoping to see the surveillance footage of Fu Sheng leaving the complex that morning.
The property management of the residential community was also very competent. After hearing Han Fei say that his child might be missing, they sent over the surveillance footage shortly afterward.
"After your son left the community, he went to the bus station and boarded the No. 24 bus."
“Bus route 24 goes directly to the school, so it seems Fu Sheng should want to go to school. But why did the school say he didn't come to class today?” Han Fei hung up the phone with the property management and truly put himself in Fu Sheng's shoes: “Fu Sheng often runs to hold an umbrella for the saplings where the body is buried when it rains. The new principal knows there's a body buried under the saplings, and he's guilty, so he definitely won't tolerate Fu Sheng being bullied at school. It's very likely that the new principal is behind it! No wonder that apart from Liu Lina, the other teachers seem to be targeting Fu Sheng. This must be the principal's doing.”
Han Fei knew that Fu Sheng had suffered a great injustice at school; he was bullied and beaten, and in the end, he was the one who was criticized and educated.
The new principal is forcing Fu Sheng to drop out of school. The reason is simple: Fu Sheng has eyes that can see the truth.
“After the new principal was arrested, Fu Shengcai was willing to leave his house. It’s not that he was ignorant; he just didn’t talk about the trouble he was in.”
Han Fei had a good impression of Fu Sheng. Although Fu Sheng ignored him, he won the unanimous favor of the wronged souls.
As the new building manager of Happiness Community, Han Fei believes that people who can gain the trust of ghosts must be kind and gentle at heart, like himself.
"Fu Sheng has changed into a new school uniform, and there doesn't seem to be anything strange in his schoolbag. He looks like he's going to school."
Han Fei had already paved the way for Fu Sheng, and he really couldn't understand why Fu Sheng hadn't gone to school.
"Could he have encountered some kind of accident?"
Han Fei took out 100 yuan and handed it to the driver. He asked the driver to stop the car next to the bus stop, and then he got out of the car to look at the route map of bus number 24.
"Driver, just follow the route of bus number 24."
Whenever Han Fei passed a major intersection, he would get out of his car and go into a nearby shop to check the morning surveillance footage.
His professional tone of voice and the undeniable aura he exuded clearly indicated that he was no ordinary person; he was at least a frontline police officer with more than three years of on-duty experience.
After tracing the trail, Han Fei finally made a discovery in front of a bookstore two stops away from the school.
"Could you please pause the video for a moment?" Han Fei, dressed in a suit and tie, said to the bookstore staff.
The young man was completely intimidated by Han Fei. Although Han Fei never said that he was a policeman, the aura he exuded and every subtle expression seemed to say, "I am a policeman, I am doing something very important, please cooperate with me and don't talk nonsense."
Pointing at the black-and-white surveillance screen, Han Fei stared intently at a student on the screen, like a hawk spotting its prey.
"Fu Sheng got off here!"
In the surveillance footage, Fu Sheng seems to be attracted by something. If you look closely, you'll notice that his hand seems to be holding the hand of another person who doesn't exist.
"Sir, is there anything else you want to ask?" The staff member was very nervous, as this was the first time he had encountered such a situation.
"Has anyone died around here?" Han Fei turned to look at the staff member, who never expected Han Fei to ask such a terrifying question right away, and shook his head repeatedly.
"No? Then whose hand was he holding?" Han Fei used the bus seat as a reference point to try to compare: "Fu Sheng should have been pulling a child off the bus, a child that can't be seen."
"Should I call the store manager over? He's lived around here for decades, he's a local." The staff member felt a lot of pressure standing next to Han Fei and left as if fleeing.
Not long after, a middle-aged man in his forties walked over. He looked Han Fei up and down and came to the same conclusion as the staff member—the man in front of him should be an undercover officer.
“My home is on this street, and I haven’t heard of anything bad happening here.” The middle-aged store manager frowned in thought.
"Has no one died on this street? The deceased was about this tall, probably a child, who would have taken the bus." Han Fei gestured with his hand.
The shop manager had never heard such a strange description before. He thought for a while and said, "About ten years ago, a small restaurant caught fire. The young couple who ran the restaurant perished in the flames. Before they died, they broke down the door and pushed their child to a slightly safer place. Later, their child was taken to the hospital, but ultimately could not be saved. I've lived here for almost thirty years, and it seems like only that one child was involved in the accident."
"His parents perished in the fire, and the boy died in the hospital. Perhaps he always wanted to come back and reunite with his parents," Han Fei muttered to himself. The shop manager next to him didn't dare to interrupt, but just thought to himself, "This plainclothes officer's reasoning is so sinister."
Looking at the route map of bus number 24 again, this bus happens to pass by a hospital.
"After the boy died, he always wanted to go home, but he couldn't find his way, so Fu Sheng helped him get home and reunite with his parents?"
Han Fei looked at the middle-aged store manager again: "Where is that restaurant that caught fire? Can you take me there?"
"It was built at the very back of the street and has now been converted into a small hotel. Because of its remote location and the incident that happened there, the accommodation fees are particularly low, making it a good place for poor people who come to the city looking for work." The shopkeeper led Han Fei into the alley behind the bookstore, and the further they went, the more eerie it felt.
The sun was setting, the light was dimming, and Han Fei felt the street slowly distorting.
The city has two different appearances at night and during the day.
The noise around him gradually faded away, and the surroundings became very quiet. Han Fei's gaze slowly shifted from the middle-aged shop manager to other places.
From the moment he entered the alley, he had a bad feeling and felt extremely uncomfortable, as if something terrible was lurking in the alley.
After sending a message to his wife, Han Fei quickened his pace and followed the middle-aged store manager to the deepest part of the alley.
In front of them was a four-story building painted white. From the outside, it looked very clean, and all traces of the fire had been removed.
“There are no security cameras in the alley, so I can’t be sure whether Fu Sheng came in or not.” Han Fei stopped in front of the white hotel, looked up, and his pupils suddenly contracted.
The window of a room on the fourth floor of the hotel was open, and a little girl was leaning half her body out of the window frame, desperately reaching her hand out to the old and dilapidated air conditioner unit outside the window.
The girl's body was very uncoordinated, as if she had a leg ailment. She moved her body with great difficulty, constantly reaching her hands forward.
It was already dark when Han Fei noticed, after looking for a long time, that an injured stray cat was curled up on the broken air conditioner unit.
The girl seemed to be trying to catch the cat and bring it into the house, but she kept missing it. In order to save the stray cat, she used one hand to support her body and stretched out the other hand towards the cat with all her might.
Just as she was about to catch the cat, the victimized stray cat, perhaps because the girl was about to hurt her, reacted violently and scratched at the girl's hand.
The little girl was frightened by the stray cat. Her body, which was pressed against the windowsill, lost its balance and fell straight out.
"not good!"
Han Fei shouted and stretched out his arms forward.
The girl's leg muscles atrophied, and she was unable to maintain her balance. Just as she was about to fall from the building, she grabbed the broken outdoor air conditioner unit.
Under the streetlights, her body looked like a white sail about to be torn apart.
"hold onto!"
Without a second's hesitation, Han Fei rushed into the hotel.
"Staying at the hotel or renting a room by the hour? Hey! Don't rush in!" The hotel receptionist tried to stop Han Fei, but Han Fei was extremely fast. By the time he reacted, Han Fei had already rushed to the second floor.
He didn't know how long the girl could hold out, so he had to be quick!
"Oh!"
Han Fei kicked open the wooden door to the fourth-floor room, stepped over the luggage and blankets on the floor, and rushed to the window: "Don't let go!"
Hearing Han Fei's voice, the girl, who was about to give up, slowly raised her head. When she saw Han Fei, Han Fei also saw the girl's face clearly.
His heart skipped a beat, and an indescribable fear instantly enveloped Han Fei as a terrifying memory he could never forget resurfaced in his mind!
He had seen this girl before!
When he was working as a building manager, every time he opened the door, a girl's head would fall off the door frame (see Chapter 92 for details).
That head looked exactly like the girl in front of him!
The building manager's task is for Han Fei to enter Fu Sheng's memories for the first time. In the memories, Fu Sheng's father has died, and Fu Sheng's house is occupied by countless vengeful ghosts.
Those vengeful ghosts include the little girl in front of you; her head is hanging on the door frame. If you want to enter Fu Sheng's house, the first person you have to face is her.
During his time managing the building, Han Fei died more than forty times, several of which were killed by the girl in front of him.
Han Fei's movements became sluggish. The task of managing the building was the most difficult task he had ever done before. He had died more than forty times, and each death would take away a part of his memory. That kind of pain had become a shadow deep in his heart.
"Save them or not?"
During the building manager's duties, the girl was dismembered, and her head was hidden on the front door; the girl's mother was also murdered, and her body was hidden in various places in the house.
According to Han Fei's speculation, the one who did all this was none other than Fu Yi.
In reality, it is highly likely that Fu Yi killed the mother and daughter. This insane act may be the root cause that pushed Fu Sheng's family into the abyss.
"If I don't save her, will her death have nothing to do with Fu Yi? Would that count as changing fate?"
Han Fei was currently unaware of the relationship between Fu Yi and the girl in front of him. The situation was slowly improving, and everything was getting back on track, but just then, the girl suddenly appeared and presented him with this difficult choice.
The girl's hands gradually lost strength, her pale fingers slowly loosening, and her helpless face looked so pitiful.
As her body slid down, the girl could no longer hold on. Just as her last finger loosened its grip, another hand reached out from the window and tightly grabbed her wrist.
The girl looked up at Han Fei's face and whispered, "Daddy..."
With a strong pull, Han Fei dragged the girl back from the window. He held the terrified girl and put her on the ground.
Without pausing, he stepped onto the window frame and reached out to the injured stray cat.
The wildcat, which was fierce to everyone, became much more docile after seeing Han Fei, and its body stopped trembling.
Grabbing the stray cat by the scruff of its neck, Han Fei dragged it into the room before closing the window.
"Never do anything so dangerous again." Han Fei stared at the girl and slowly noticed the problem. The girl seemed to have a congenital disease; her legs were weak, and she couldn't even walk on her own.
"Mmm." The girl lowered her head and gave a soft "Mmm," her voice as low as a mosquito's buzz.
"I'll take this cat to the vet for treatment first. You should rest at home."
The hotel wasn't big; it only had a living room and a bathroom. The bed was placed in the corner of the living room, and there was a straw mat on the floor.
Han Fei carried the girl to the bed and helped her unfold the blankets: "Where are your parents?"
“I live with my mother. She went out to look for work this afternoon.” The girl didn’t mention her father. She kept her head down and was very shy and introverted.
"Is this house just for you and your mother?" Han Fei looked at the dishes and chopsticks that hadn't been cleared away on the small wooden table, then at a bank card and an envelope tucked inside high school study materials on the table.
His expression gradually turned strange. The envelope couldn't be sealed because it was full of cash.
This family looks very poor; they wouldn't be so careless as to leave so much cash on the dining table.
"Did anyone come looking for you today?" Han Fei asked patiently, squatting down beside the girl's bed.
“There was an older boy in a school uniform. He was a very kind person and wanted to help me get treatment, but my mother didn’t want his money.” The girl’s age was between that of Fu Tian and Fu Sheng. She should have been in elementary school, but she had to stay at home because of her illness.
"A big brother in a school uniform?" Han Fei asked the girl to describe him in more detail, and he was certain that the student was Fu Sheng!
"Did Fu Sheng learn something with that kid's help? Is that why he came early, trying his best to make amends?" Han Fei connected everything and thought it through. He felt that the girl in front of him was likely a key figure who would influence the course of the memory world.
"Child, can you tell Uncle your name?" Han Fei tried to sound gentle: "I want to help you too."
"My name is Fu Yi." The girl looked up at Han Fei: "Yi as in memory."
