Chapter 659 Summoning a Soul? Or Seeking a Marriage?

Chapter 659 Summoning a Soul? Or Seeking a Marriage?
"Someone specifically bought a haunted house?" Han Fei looked at the white wax on the ground. "Did he put all these things here?"

“Nonsense, who else but that madman would do such a thing… No, that’s a bit inaccurate. There are indeed other strange people in the building.” The old man seemed to remember something: “But he definitely put up the white wax. I caught him red-handed before.”

"Why did he do this?"

“Who knows? He won’t tell us, and no one in the community cares. We’ve even called the police, but he just won’t change.” The old man was also very troubled: “If you’re really curious, go ask him yourselves. But I still have to advise you: you can’t believe everything a madman says. If you believe what a madman says, you’re not far from going crazy yourself.”

After cleaning his own front door, the old man closed the door, demonstrating the principle of "everyone sweeps the snow in front of their own door" to the fullest extent.

"The girlfriend of the person in a vegetative state came back to life on the seventh day after her death. Could the new resident on the fifth floor be trying to see his girlfriend one last time?" Li Guo'er's expression changed: "Oh no, we saw the ghost marrying off last night. The ghost might have already run into his house! The homeowner may have already been murdered!"

"Let's go up and have a look."

After walking through the white wax trees, the three of them arrived at the fourth floor.

Li Guo'er was afraid the homeowner would be murdered, so she walked very fast, but Han Fei stopped when he passed the fourth floor.

"What's wrong with you?" Xiao Jia was caught off guard and bumped into Han Fei's back.

“This room…” Han Fei stared intently at the rusty security door, his pupils contracting little by little, the whites of his eyes increasing, and his expression beginning to lose control: “I think I’ve been here before.”

"Oh!"

Han Fei suddenly grabbed the door lock with both hands, the sound startling Li Guo'er and Xiao Jia.

"Calm down!" Xiao Jia tried to pull Han Fei away, but Han Fei's hands seemed to be stuck to the iron gate.

“I didn’t move; my body moved on its own. I must have opened this door many times, so many that my hands have memorized the feeling.”

Without a key, his veins bulging as he turned the doorknob. This room seemed incredibly important to Han Fei, and he never expected to do something like this.

"Is this really my home?"

Not long after, hurried footsteps came from inside the house. The homeowner heard the noise and ran over.

The inner door was quickly opened, and an elderly man with a full head of white hair appeared in the doorway. His face was covered with age spots, and he was wearing loose pajamas and a bathrobe, with a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his mouth.

"Who are you looking for?"

"Is this your home?"

"Otherwise what?" The old man looked Han Fei up and down through the security door. "Has something happened in the neighborhood again?"

"Have you been living here all this time?"

"I don't live here, so who do you live here?" The old man had a bad temper. He impatiently exhaled a puff of smoke. "Why are you staring into my house? Are you looking for someone?"

"Are you sure you've always lived here? Since more than twenty years ago?"

"I've lived here for almost forty years. I moved in right after the complex was built. Is there a problem?" The old man's face was covered in dark patches, making him look like he was about to die, but he didn't care at all. His house was filled with empty bottles of liquor, and he smoked and drank as he pleased.

"If it's convenient, may I come into your home to take a look? There have been several cases of children going missing in the neighborhood, and we're conducting investigations." Han Fei's voice was gentle, and he gave off a very upright impression.

"Come into my house?" The old man frowned, his gaze sweeping past Han Fei and landing on Li Guo'er and Xiao Jia.

Li Guo'er, wearing glasses, is quiet and cute, looking gentle and weak. Xiao Jia, who is balding, looks dull and doesn't seem to have any guile at all.

"Alright." The old man opened the door and let the three of them in.

"Thank you, sir. How should I address you?"

“My surname is Fu. I used to work at an orphanage. The neighbors in the building all called me Director Fu.” The old man flicked off his cigarette ash and kicked a wine bottle on the ground into a corner. “The house is a bit messy. Please make yourselves at home.”

"Dean Fu?" Han Feiguang could not tell whether the other party was lying from his demeanor and the content of his speech.

The room clearly gave Han Fei an extremely familiar feeling, but Dean Fu said that this was his home.

"You can look around as you like. I'm too old to kidnap children. I suggest you go check out Building 11. You might find something unexpected." The old man sat by the window, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He looked very weathered, and his eyes seemed to hold the weight of a century's worth of life.

"Building 11?" There was a special understanding between Li Guo'er and Han Fei. She didn't know why Han Fei was so fixated on this room, but since Han Fei wanted to investigate it, she would cooperate.

Without any exchange, Li Guo'er sat opposite the old man, as if she really was there to investigate the missing child, and began to talk to the old man, buying Han Fei time to check the room himself.

The old man seemed to have no intention of asking any questions. He had lived a life of profound understanding and did not care about fame, fortune, or money, letting Han Fei wander around the room as he pleased.

After checking all the rooms, Han Fei stopped in the innermost bedroom. The furnishings didn't reveal anything special, but what caught Han Fei's attention was a picture frame.

After pulling open the wooden table drawer, an upside-down photo frame and various spare keys for the house were placed together.

"Who is this?"

Han Fei picked up the photo frame. In the photo was a little girl in a red dress, holding a flowerpot filled with soil, seemingly waiting for the seeds to take root and sprout.

"That's my granddaughter." The old man in the living room called out to Han Fei when he saw Han Fei staring at the photo frame.

What about your other relatives?

“They’re all gone. My granddaughter is missing too. I only have one photo of her left.” Dean Fu silently smoked his cigarette, his eyes still filled with the weariness of time.

"Granddaughter?" Han Fei gently touched the girl in the photo. He had no memory of the girl at all, but he couldn't help the impulse in his heart, as if he wanted to pull her out of the photo.

"Do you have any other questions?" Dean Fu asked, sounding increasingly tired and impatient.

"We'll leave now." Han Fei put the photo frame back in its place, and as he turned around, he caught a strange sight out of the corner of his eye.

The scene in the photo has changed. It is no longer a little girl staring at a flowerpot, but a girl poking her head out of a living person's stomach, her face contorted with rage as she reaches out to Han Fei, seemingly preparing to grab him.

I stared blankly at the photo, but it all seemed like an illusion.

"Am I wrong?"

Even after leaving the old man's house, Han Fei still couldn't forget the girl. She was young, covered in blood, and desperately trying to tell him something.

"Cheer up!" Li Guo'er patted Han Fei on the shoulder: "The neighborhood is normal during the day, but it merges with the ghost realm at night. If you don't find what you're looking for, don't be discouraged. We can come back with you after dark."

The three of them went up to the fifth floor. Instead of placing the wax figs on any more floors, they stopped in front of a house.

"White wax, paper money, white wedding invitations and couplets, what exactly is this guy trying to do?" Looking at the big white "double happiness" character on the door, Xiao Jia took a step back, while Li Guo'er took the initiative to knock on the door.

Not long after, the door of the family on the fifth floor opened by itself, and a rich aroma of meat wafted out of the house, while the sounds of stir-frying and cooking came from the kitchen.

"You're cooking at the crack of dawn? And it's all meat?" Li Guo'er looked into the room. The small room had been completely decorated as a wedding room, with lanterns and colorful decorations, and it was very lively. However, everything was white and black.

"Is anyone home? We want to ask you some questions." Li Guo'er quietly entered the house. She saw black and white invitations scattered all over the floor that hadn't been sent out, as well as a huge black and white wedding photo in the bedroom.

Even more bizarrely, there seems to be a person lying on the double bed beneath the wedding photo.

Its whole body was covered by a quilt, and its head was not exposed. It remained motionless for a long time, and only a human shape could be vaguely seen.
