My Healing Games
Chapter 682 Five Managers
Chapter 682 Five Managers
Room 404, 4th Floor, Building 4, Leyuan Family Compound.
"You're the manager of that amusement park?" Han Fei became excited; he had finally caught a big fish.
"To be precise, I was one of the managers of that amusement park." The man smiled bitterly. "About ten years ago, I had just graduated from school and was facing setbacks everywhere. Later, with the help of a relative, I became a night shift worker at the amusement park. But after working there for a long time, I found out that the relative had died a long time ago."
"Are you telling me a horror story?" Han Fei's muscles tensed up; he didn't completely believe the man in front of him.
"You saved my daughter's life, which is why I'm telling you this information." The man looked Han Fei up and down, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Mr. Wanted criminal, I have no ill intentions towards you. I also roughly know why you killed someone. You and your female companion probably participated in that murder game, right?"
"You know quite a lot." Han Fei hadn't expected to become so famous; he had become a household name in just one day.
"Actually, that murder game was originally designed to screen out the park's managers." The man lifted his shirt, revealing various scars: "Only those filled with negative emotions and shrouded in despair are qualified to join the game. I was the most desperate person around that relative, so I participated in the game as that relative's heir."
“But you look weak, I don’t believe you can accumulate a hundred points.” Han Fei spoke quite directly.
The man clicked his tongue: "I've never seen anyone accumulate a hundred points."
"So how did you beat the game?"
"You don't need to clear the game or accumulate 100 points. As long as you kill all the other game participants and become the only one at a certain time, you can enter the depths of the park and become the park manager." The man's face was full of regret: "This should be the worst thing I've ever done in my life."
Han Fei didn't detect a trace of blood on the man; he seemed just like an ordinary person. "You just said you're one of the park's managers? How many managers are there in that park?"
"The number of park managers is fixed at five. Only when a position becomes vacant will the remaining managers play games until a new manager is elected."
"Five?" Han Fei's eyes darkened. He had originally thought there was only one manager in the park. "Do you know who those five people are?"
"They don't have specific names, only code names. One of them is called Man, who manages the park during the day; one is called Ghost, who manages the park at night; one is called Dream, who manages the Ferris wheel and children's castle; one is called Brain, who manages the maze deep inside the park; and the last one is called 'I,' who manages all the park's basic entertainment facilities."
"These are all strange names. Which department were you in charge of before?" Han Fei stared at the man, observing the changes in his expression.
"Did you see the maze map on my body? I inherited the maze management rights from that relative; I'm the previous brain." The man touched the burn scars on his skin. To be able to cover up the maze map in this way, he was quite ruthless.
"Who is the strongest among these five managers? Do you know what their abilities are?" Han Fei asked tentatively.
The man shook his head: "I've forgotten many things, only some vague impressions remain. Of all the managers, Dream's abilities are the most bizarre; he likes to hide himself in a black cocoon. Brain's abilities are the weakest, almost powerless in combat, but it is the most crucial; it is the key and the answer. Ghost is the strongest, capable of intimidating the night. 'I' am very mysterious, rarely seen in the park, yet his traces are everywhere. Finally, I want to tell you that of the five managers, Human is the most terrifying; he is even more frightening than Ghost."
"Then who do you think sent the message to your daughter?" Han Fei wasn't confident he could take on five people at once, so he wanted to pull the man along to deal with one of the managers first.
"It must be a dream. He's a master at manipulating people's hearts, using their emotions and desires as weapons. As long as your heart shows the slightest flaw, he will drag you into despair and make you lose yourself forever," the man said with certainty.
"Then why did he do this?"
"The dream might be targeting me. He acts recklessly, using any means necessary to achieve his goals. He believes that no matter how evil something is, as long as it's not discovered, it hasn't been done. He treats both humans and ghosts as toys, which makes him the enemy of the other four. The ghost wants to completely kill all ghosts and monsters, and utterly destroy the night; the human, on the other hand, is preparing to completely separate reality from ghosts and monsters." The man tried his best to recall, but in the end, he just shook his head: "Sorry, that's all I know. A brain that forgets everything is just a useless piece of trash."
The man sat on the sofa and sighed softly.
"I suspect you're using a veiled insult." Han Fei pressed his temples, pondering the man's words.
The park is a microcosm of the city, and the managers seem to represent five different futures.
"Should I join one side first? Or should I kill them all?" Han Fei muttered to himself as the man got up and walked towards Yan Le's bedroom, somewhat worried about his daughter.
"Yan Le, I want to have a good talk with you."
"Only my mother loves me in this world! It's okay if you don't help me, someone else will! Those who bullied me will die in the most miserable way!" Yan Le locked herself in her room, screaming hysterically, "I want everyone to experience my misfortune!"
After Yan Le shouted those words, a piercing scream suddenly came from upstairs. A woman was desperately calling for help.
Judging from her voice, the girl was about the same age as Yan Le; they were both still students.
"Haha! Karma's coming! You won't help me! Someone will!" Yan Le's laughter began to twist. His father's face darkened, and he didn't bother to pay attention to Yan Le. He quickly ran out of the house and rushed upstairs.
……
Room 405, 5th Floor, Building 4
"By the time you see this videotape, I may already be dead. Seriously, I'm not kidding."
“My mother’s behavior is getting stranger and stranger. She will suddenly get into arguments with people and always say things that are hard to understand.”
"He suddenly sat up in bed in the middle of the night and stared at the corner of the living room without saying a word."
"She would also smile foolishly at an empty room when it was very quiet."
"She always had an expression on her face that made me feel unfamiliar, especially at night. One night, I went to the bathroom and suddenly found her standing in the middle of the living room dressed in white."
"I asked her what she was doing, and she suddenly said there was someone in the toilet?"
“My mother feels very insecure during the day, so she added two locks to the living room door. Every night she says she can hear knocking, and she runs to the peephole again and again to look out, and she even describes to me what is standing outside the door at that time.”
“I was so curious that I opened the door once, and there was nothing in the hallway. It was as if those ghosts only existed in her mind.”
"All of this started when she received that phone call. A strange person with a pure black profile picture contacted her through the 'People Nearby' feature. I don't know what they talked about, but I felt that my mother was gradually drifting away from me."
“She’s started to distrust me; she’s been bewitched by that man with the black profile picture.”
“Now they’re starting to think I’m sick and are feeding me weird drugs, but actually the one who’s really sick isn’t me, it’s my mother.”
"I have to record this, I want you to see the truth..."
A female student in a shirt squatted in front of the camera, looking extremely nervous. While recording, she didn't forget to listen to the footsteps outside.
Only after she was sure her mother's footsteps had faded away did she dare to lower her voice and continue speaking in front of the camera: "I feel like I might be imprisoned by her. My mother no longer allows me to leave this house. It seems like she puts some kind of drug in the food she makes for me. I feel very sleepy after every meal. What's even more terrifying is that I always feel like after I fall asleep, the blanket will be pulled off and something else will climb onto my bed."
"No matter who you are, if you can find this video, please help me. I live in apartment 405, fifth floor, building four of the Leyuan Family Compound. My name is..."
The doorknob turned, and the bedroom door was suddenly opened from the outside. A heavily made-up middle-aged woman stood in the living room: "What are you doing?"
"The camera is a bit dirty, I want to wipe it clean." The female student wiped the lens very naturally.
"Come out for dinner." The woman called the female student out of the room, and they sat down together at the dining table.
The room, occupied by only two people, felt somewhat empty and unsettling, but the two women seemed to have gotten used to it.
"Guests will be coming soon, so you'd better tone down your bad habits. You're the one who can't get married, so don't let that affect me." The woman was wearing a bright red dress today, as red as blood.
The female student clutched her short hair, not daring to look her mother in the eye. She picked up her chopsticks, but before she could even pick up any food, the woman began to scold her harshly.
"Don't let our guests think we have no manners."
The sun was about to set, and the mother and daughter sat idly by the dining table until the last ray of sunlight was swallowed by the night.
The silent middle-aged woman stood up without warning and turned to look at the living room door: "Coming, coming."
The living room door opened, and there was no one outside, but the middle-aged woman's face was beaming with a warm smile: "I've been waiting for this day for a long time."
She spoke to the empty corridor, paused for five or six seconds, and then reached out to close the door.
Without turning around, the middle-aged woman grabbed the chain and the two newly fitted padlocks by the door and locked the living room security door shut.
The rusty chains scraped against the metal security door, making a somewhat eerie sound. The female student in the shirt felt frightened. She lowered her head and slowly turned to look at the doorway, only to see her mother secretly watching her out of the corner of her eye.
The face hidden in the shadows was dull and unfamiliar; the mother's eyes were bloodshot, as if she feared her daughter would run away.
The female student got goosebumps on her neck, but she pretended not to notice and stared at the soup in front of her.
"I absolutely cannot fall asleep tonight..."
After locking the door, the mother, dressed in red, sat back down. She didn't look at the female student at all; all her attention was focused on an empty seat at the table.
There were three sets of bowls and chopsticks on the table, which was meant for only two people.
"Why aren't you eating? Is it because my cooking isn't to your liking?" Mom's voice softened again.
"My stomach isn't feeling well, so..." The female student looked up, but the rest of her words caught in her throat, and she couldn't say them.
The mother wasn't talking to her at all; the heavily made-up woman was staring at the empty seat next to her, her eyes fixed on a non-existent person, a strange smile on her face.
Taking a deep breath, the girl stood up from the table: "I'm full, you can eat slowly."
She emphasized "you" in her words, trying to remind her mother, but the middle-aged woman seemed to be having a great time chatting and completely ignored the female student.
She quickly left the dining table, ran into her bedroom, and closed the door.
"Mom's condition seems to have worsened today." She eavesdropped behind the door and saw her mother sitting alone in the living room, talking to something.
"Is the food I cooked to your liking? Do you think there's not enough meat? I haven't been going out much lately, so this is all the food I have at home. Please bear with me."
"Which big piece of meat? Oh right, there's a big piece of meat in the bedroom. You're right."
"Yes, yes, I'm not in a hurry. It's enough to eat for many days."
"When I was young, many people thought I was good-looking, but unfortunately I am old now, and she has taken away my beauty, health and happiness."
"I'll have to trouble you with the child's illness again. She always thinks I'm sick and keeps arguing with me. She's very rebellious."
"The treatment is starting tonight? Okay, thank you so much. But I haven't finished collecting the things you asked me to prepare yet. The body of the baby who died just three days after birth and the bracelet with the final trace of yin energy from the morgue are too difficult to obtain."
"Do you have a substitute? Thank you again, I will never forget your great kindness."
"Okay, I'll go over after she falls asleep and do as you say."
A woman's muttering voice could be heard continuously coming from the living room. Her tone of voice was relatively normal, but the content of her words was terrifying.
The female student took a few steps back; she didn't know what kind of treatment would involve an infant's corpse and a morgue bracelet.
"Mom has been bewitched by that thing!" The girl became more and more frightened as she thought about it. She ran back to the bedside and was about to turn on the video camera when her gaze inadvertently fell on the photo frame on the bedside table.
In the photo, she is holding an award certificate and standing next to her mother, both of them looking incredibly happy.
Besides the certificates in the photos, the girl's bookshelf also displays various trophies she has won, including those for singing competitions, recitation, and swimming. She is an outstanding child and is also exceptionally beautiful.
"We used to be so happy, why did Mom suddenly become like this?"
The female student really couldn't understand it. She picked up the photo frame and looked at herself and her mother standing together with the first-place award certificate.
"Could it be related to her?" The photo also showed half of the second-place girl's face. She lived downstairs from her and was a girl who didn't talk much.
“I heard from a friend that Yan Le often talks to herself in private. Once, she was sitting alone in a toilet stall cursing me, and my friend found out.”
“I have never done anything to hurt her, but she cursed me to die and said that she wanted me to suffer the same pain as her.”
The female student shook her head: "I'm probably overthinking it."
The female student turned on the video recorder, intending to finish recording what she had prepared, but at that moment, all the lights in the room went out, as if someone had pulled the power switch.
Darkness suddenly descended, and the female student froze; her shirt could no longer provide her with any warmth.
"what happened?"
The female student slowly groped her way toward the bedroom door, and the first thing she had to do was to use her back to block the door panel.
It takes time for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. As she approached the bedroom door, she suddenly heard the door open.
"not good!"
She ran as fast as she could toward the sound, and her fingertips finally touched the door.
Her body reacted before her brain could process it; she recklessly slammed the bedroom door shut again.
With her back pressed against the door, the female student's heart rate soared, and she gritted her teeth.
"Why did the power suddenly go out? Why did Mom's voice disappear? I ran to close the door immediately, so nothing should have gotten in, right?"
The more doubtful she was, the more fearful she became, and the fear intensified her self-doubt. The girl blocked the door with her body, sitting in the darkness, afraid to breathe deeply.
After about ten seconds, the girl's eyes finally adjusted to the darkness, and she pressed her ear against the bedroom door to listen to the sounds outside.
The living room was deathly silent; there wasn't a sound.
With her left hand supporting her on the ground, the girl slowly got up and grabbed the doorknob.
But she froze halfway through her grab, as if there was another hand on the doorknob.
She slowly turned her head and saw her mother, dressed in bright red, standing right behind her, her face very close.
"where are you going?"
