Chapter 780 D-level Hidden Map
Chapter 780 D-level Hidden Map
Pioneers of an era often possess the following characteristics: a thirst for knowledge, ambition, a sense of teamwork, and a dedication to exploration.
Han Fei possessed all these characteristics. He collaborated with the old man, opened the Ghost Gate he had always been curious about on someone else's territory, and risked being killed to summon the unknown monster from the sea of blood.
Perhaps moved by Han Fei's actions, the old man's eyes welled up with tears as he gazed at the blood spreading wildly behind Han Fei.
"Are you... insane?!"
Han Fei himself didn't know what lay deep in the sea; all he wanted now was to escape for his life.
Sensing the eerie atmosphere emanating from inside the room, the strange plant on the old man's back withered slightly, seemingly too frightened to bloom again.
The knocking at the door of the cottage stopped abruptly, the lock slowly wobbled, and then fell to the ground.
The door slowly opened, and a child carrying a schoolbag appeared in the doorway.
As the eleventh creation of the gods, the child is an extremely powerful being amidst special resentment; wherever he stands, the black rain turns into blood rain.
"Uncle, Grandpa, could you please let me stay for the night?"
A childish voice came from the boy's mouth, and his backpack zipper opened automatically, revealing a scarred arm that reached out and grabbed Han Fei's neck.
"run!"
Han Fei didn't care about anything else. He turned around and pushed open the window. Just as he was about to jump out, he suddenly heard the sound of something breaking.
Turning my head, I saw the arm that had been sticking out of the backpack lying on the ground, with several rows of grotesque teeth marks at the broken end.
Strange noises came from inside the cubicle. Countless veins, like pythons spotting their prey, crawled out from the cubicle walls and instantly occupied half of the living room.
Han Fei still hasn't seen what the monster in the sea of blood looks like; the mere aura it exudes is enough to terrify him and the old man.
The time for the gates of hell to close has come, but the monster seems to be blocking the gates with its body, preventing them from closing.
"How could you be so rude?" The little boy looked at the severed arm on the ground, his clear eyes seeming to be filled with ink, his pupils gradually becoming cloudy, radiating a pure malice: "Why did you bite off Dad's arm?"
A large amount of blood was flowing from the bottom of the schoolbag, and hands pieced together from human remains reached out from the boy's schoolbag, grabbing towards the room.
The boy was incredibly powerful, but no matter how he attacked the room, all his arms would break.
As a piercing roar resounded, the monster summoned by Han Fei seemed to have completely broken free from the shackles of the sea of blood. Its body squeezed out of the gate of hell, staining the entire building blood red.
"What exactly did you create?" The old man felt as if his soul was being sucked away.
"If I had known, wouldn't I have told you already?" Han Fei was also panicking. He realized that as the one who summoned the spirit, there was an unbreakable connection between him and the unknown monster.
In other words, the monster and he could always sense each other's location.
"If I use the Soul Return talent on that monster, will it return to the Sea of Blood, or will I send it directly to the shallow world?"
Scientific exploration often involves detours and costs, and Han Fei's only consolation is that he conducted his experiments on someone else's turf.
"Stop looking! Go!"
Han Fei was very kind to the old man. He left the little boy to face the monster in the sea of blood alone, and instead, he locked the old man's neck and jumped down the building with him. His respect for the elderly and love for the young were fully demonstrated.
After the two left, the little boy's battle with the unknown monster in the sea of blood officially began.
The entire building was stained with blood. The boy's cries rang out, all the window glass shattered, and occasionally a fast-moving shadow of blood could be seen flashing by.
The boy's schoolbag seemed like a bottomless pit of corpses, from which all sorts of bones emerged, as if trying to weave a cage of bones. He desperately tried to restrain the Blood Shadow, but the speed difference between the two was too great.
The cries echoed through the rainy night, awakening the deathly silent streets. The enormous "Di Ting" appeared beside the building, raising its head to bite at the monster that had escaped the sea of blood.
"Stop looking! Let's part ways here!" The old man didn't want to stay with Han Fei for another second. He was terrified, both of the divine creation and of Han Fei beside him.
"Okay!" Han Fei only wanted the old man to help him distract the monster. Now that the monster was lured away, he immediately prepared to escape to the outer area.
The idea was good, but Han Fei and the old man had already penetrated deep into the core area, and the imposing skyscraper was right in front of them. It was too late to leave now.
Before Han Fei could finish speaking, he saw a strange man in a red raincoat appear on the street. The man was carrying a wooden box that looked like an altar on his back and holding a crumpled, blood-soaked photograph in his hand.
"What kind of monster is this?"
"Attention player number 0000! You have successfully discovered the twelfth creation of the gods—the Messenger."
"Messenger (Special Resentment): Resentment that travels between the building and the outside world. No one knows what kind of face is hidden under their clothes. They are responsible for delivering messages from the gods."
"Beware! There are many messengers, and they are a cohesive unit. It may be easy to kill one messenger, but you will soon know what fear is."
There are so many of them, killing one will only bring a whole horde. How are we supposed to fight them?
Han Fei watched the messenger approaching him, then caught up with the old man again: "Old man, let's run away together!"
"Don't follow me!"
"Sir, I mean you no harm," Han Fei quickly explained. "Have you seen that monster in the raincoat behind us? The photos they're holding look like they have our faces on them. Are we being targeted?"
"Go away!" The old man, soaked to the bone by the black rain, noticed the messenger behind him. His face turned green, and he began to run forward as fast as he could.
Seeing the old man start to speed up, Han Fei quickly followed: "Grandpa, come along! How can I live without you, Grandpa!"
After rushing out of the street, the old man in front of him suddenly stopped, and Han Fei almost bumped into the plant on the old man's back.
"What's wrong?" He noticed that the old man's body was trembling slightly. Looking towards the crossroads, he saw messengers wearing red and black raincoats walking out of various rooms in just half an hour.
These monsters carried various severed limbs and human fragments, like worker ants venturing out of their nests to find food, devoid of any emotion, determined to bring back everything they saw that was edible to the skyscraper.
“It’s over…” The old man almost collapsed to the ground. His already deformed body trembled with fear, and he seemed to have given up resisting: “There is no way out. There may be other divine creations around us. We can’t get out.”
The old man's voice was filled with despair. Han Fei, who only had one drop of blood left, dared not clash with the messenger. He looked around and saw messengers everywhere outside, except for the road leading to the skyscraper, which was deserted.
"The messengers are exploring outwards from the building. They're wearing raincoats, obscuring their faces, so they're very likely residents of the building. Since they have a way to get out, we should also have a way to leave after we escape into that building." Han Fei is a player. As long as he can survive for three hours and complete one more task, he can log off. The chance of triggering a task in an unknown map is very high, so he's not in a hopeless situation yet.
"Sir, I have a crazy idea. The most dangerous place is the safest place. I want to hide in a skyscraper for now and wait out this storm." Han Fei wasn't just talking; he really intended to do it.
"The most dangerous place is the most dangerous place. Don't be silly, even ghosts don't believe that kind of talk." The old man refused verbally, but his body instinctively turned around with Han Fei. No one wanted to be annihilated, especially when there were still unfulfilled wishes.
"No matter what you think, I absolutely cannot die here." Han Fei rushed towards the skyscraper at full speed. All his belongings were in his inventory, and apart from his health not being able to be restored, he was currently at his strongest.
The towering skyscrapers were right in front of them. Han Fei's previous plan was to infiltrate and gradually take over, figuring things out before making any moves.
But in reality, there aren't that many plans. Various unexpected events forced Han Fei to choose the method that would best unleash his potential to pass the level.
They first targeted the building next to the skyscraper. After the messengers gathered in that direction, assuming they had taken refuge in that building, they immediately rushed towards the skyscraper!
Only when you get really close will you realize how magnificent this building is.
Connecting heaven and earth, it doesn't resemble a building at all, but rather a small city stacked up in layers.
Black rain fell on the building's exterior walls. Han Fei and the old man had no time for sentimentality; they took the initiative to escape into the building.
"Boom!"
A thunderclap boomed, and a massive bolt of lightning struck the dark clouds, as if a god's eye had opened a crack.
"Attention player number 0000! You have entered an unknown hidden map!"
"This map is extremely dangerous! The initial difficulty is level D, but the possibility of level C areas cannot be ruled out!"
Attention player number 0000! Please leave within one hour!
Black raindrops dripped from his clothes onto the ground. The old man stared at the dark and gloomy stairwell before him, his face grim. "I really believed your nonsense! No one who enters this building ever leaves alive!"
"You've definitely been brainwashed by these so-called gods. If no one can leave alive, what's the situation with those messengers outside? Aren't they still able to go out?" Han Fei didn't continue arguing with the old man. He quietly sensed the Blood Sea Monster, and the connection between that thing and himself hadn't been severed: "Even the two special resentments, Di Ting and the little boy, couldn't kill it?"
Another reason Han Fei wanted to hide in the skyscraper was because of the Blood Sea Monster; he didn't want that monster to follow him back to Paradise.
"Complaining is useless now; we have to find a way to survive."
Han Fei stepped onto the dilapidated steps and observed carefully.
The interior of this skyscraper is intricate and complex, with twenty elevators in operation. What's even stranger is that some of these elevators are the latest models, while others are old-fashioned elevators with iron railings, spanning a period of about fifty years.
The entire building appears extremely deformed and absurd, with traces of the passage of time everywhere; fifty years seem to have been mixed into this building.
"Those messengers will probably be back soon. Let's find a place to hide."
Han Fei looked at the constantly changing numbers on the elevator. Many elevators were in use, so he didn't dare to go over. He pulled the old man into the leftmost stairwell.
The steps were painted with peeling red paint, the floors were far apart, and the stairwells were covered with talismans and all sorts of vicious and terrifying graffiti.
Han Fei arrived on the second floor and glanced down the corridor. The long corridors were haphazardly pieced together, resembling pigsty apartments for refugees. Narrow single rooms were packed tightly together, and various miscellaneous items were placed in the passageways. In addition to the residents, some of the individual rooms had been converted into grocery stores, pastry shops, and small clinics.
"This place gives me a very bad feeling!" The old man refused to hide on the second floor and continued to go up with Han Fei.
The steps seemed a little tidier. The third floor was still a hodgepodge of tenants and shops, but at the corner of the two corridors, several rooms had been combined and turned into a private kindergarten.
"Why can't I see a single person in such a lively place?"
"Where is the life in this?" Even the old man, a ghost, couldn't stand it anymore. He kept shaking his head and grabbed Han Fei as they continued running up to the third floor.
