Chapter 944 Fear Becomes Reality

Chapter 944 Fear Becomes Reality
The desperate memories that Han Fei recalled did not disappear; they settled in Han Fei's mind, echoing the black box.

This was also the first time Han Fei clearly sensed the existence of the black box. The gift bestowed upon the most desperate people exuded a special power that only Han Fei could control.

"There will be no more blood-stained orphanages in the world."

As Han Fei walked to the other end of the passage, he did not look back. At the same time, alarms sounded in all the underground laboratories of the Eternal Life Building, and red warning lights flashed, turning the underground floors into a blood-red mess.

"What's going on?" The staff at the waste disposal center and Assistant Tao were both bewildered. Everything was fine just now, and they thought it was just a formality. How did the highest level of alert suddenly activate?!

"They've made their move. It seems Gao Xing still wants to open the passage on this day, but the plan has been moved up by a few hours."

He was overjoyed to have his most anticipated future engraved in the shrine world. This day was extremely important to him. The entire ceremony had been in preparation for decades, and he would not give up easily.

The red warning lights flashed continuously, and walking among them, one would occasionally feel disoriented, as if seeing objects under the lights stained with blood.

“You all seem to be bleeding…” The waste disposal center worker was the first to have a problem. He pointed at Han Fei: “Look, he, he’s covered in blood! And there are children laughing at him!”

Assistant Tao initially didn't notice anything, but after the staff member pointed it out, he also noticed that Han Fei's clothes were slowly being soaked with blood under the light.

"Calm down, don't be fooled by illusions." Han Fei turned to look at the two people. Assistant Tao and the staff member he was staring at stepped back in unison. They saw a face with its seven orifices festering and bleeding continuously.

"It must be that you're happy to have used your abilities. Can the ghosts of your world be this terrifying in reality? We should be very far away from it. Even a butterfly couldn't do such a wide-range attack." Huang Ying himself didn't realize that he was directly saying to Han Fei, "The ghosts of your world."

“There’s a big difference between unspeakable feelings and hatred.” Han Fei pinned the staff member against the wall. He wanted to use the power of his healing personality to help the other person wake up, just like he did in the world of memories in the shrine. But after trying for a long time, it didn’t work at all. Instead, he scared the staff member half to death.

"Strange." Han Fei clearly felt that the black box had given him something, but he didn't know how to use it.

"Don't kill me! Don't kill me!" The staff member trembled all over, not even daring to look at Han Fei's face. Only now did he understand the meaning of Han Fei's previous words. If time could be reversed, he would have run away at full speed the moment he saw Han Fei.

"Just follow me. Even if you try to escape, you can't outrun me," Han Fei said calmly, displaying his confidence based on his physical strength.

After observing Assistant Tao and the staff, Han Fei was certain that Gao Xing had used a similar "ghost realm" ability inside the Eternal Life Building.

A long time ago, when he first participated in a variety show, he encountered a situation where hatred used his abilities. At that time, several celebrities who participated in the variety show experienced severe hallucinations.

“Hatred cannot kill a person directly; it requires other means to drive someone to suicide. The power of the unspeakable is certainly more terrifying; it might be able to kill directly in reality, so we must be extremely careful.” Han Fei pulled Assistant Tao in front of him, forcing him to look directly into his eyes: “Don’t be disturbed by anything external, stay rational, and stick to your principles. If you are really afraid, just silently say my name in your heart and don’t think about anything else.”

"Sing your name?"

"At least I won't harm you." Han Fei led everyone to the elevator and sped up the exploration. Although he complained about a player with low luck, the other party was innocently dragged into this, so he wanted to do everything he could to save him: "We should be able to make it in time. If not, I'll find him a good burial plot, and there will be plenty of ghost money."

The elevator doors on the ninth basement level slowly opened, revealing two oil wax sticks in the corner and an ugly clay sculpture in the center of the elevator.

In front of the clay sculpture are a severed finger, a strand of long black hair, a mask, and some bloody, broken fingernails.

"How come there are these things in the building's elevator?"

The flickering flames on the wax went out after Han Fei entered the elevator, and the red lights illuminated everyone's faces.

"How about we take the stairs?" The worker at the waste disposal center trembled with fear. The world he saw was different from Han Fei's. His companions were all covered in blood, and the once familiar passageway now exuded an ominous aura.

"Are you afraid of it?" Han Fei picked up the clay sculpture with both hands. He looked at the clay sculpture and Gao Xing's face, which was somewhat similar to Gao Xing's. "The last person to leave the Blood Orphanage in my memory was Gao Xing. He regarded the twin flowers as his most perfect work. Now fate has come full circle and returned to the starting point."

With a forceful pull of his arms, Han Fei broke the clay sculpture apart and crushed it into pieces with both hands.

"Letting you see your mother one last time before I kill you is my last act of mercy."

After the clay sculpture was destroyed, a piercing scream rang out all around. The powder that fell to the ground resembled a shattered face, grotesque and terrifying.

The atmosphere inside the building grew increasingly eerie, and this did not stop even after the clay sculptures were destroyed.

"Get in the elevator, we're going to Lab 4." Han Fei pulled the staff member into the elevator, but footsteps came from behind them at that moment.

A worker from the waste disposal center, with his head down and looking as if he were drunk, staggered toward Han Fei.

"Xiao Li?" The staff member next to Han Fei seemed to have seen a savior. He suddenly broke free from Han Fei's grasp and ran towards the employee called Xiao Li: "Are you alright?"

Xiao Li didn't reply. When the staff member walked up to him, Xiao Li's shoulders started to twitch, and he suddenly raised his head.

With his purple lips biting into a piece of flesh torn from the android, Xiao Li's face was covered in tears. He seemed unable to control his emotions: "Team leader, I...I...I think I killed someone! Help me, help me!"

Xiao Li became increasingly agitated, pulling various fragments of android bodies from his work clothes: "I killed people! I killed so many people! They're talking in my ear! They're coming for me!"

The staff member was also startled by Xiao Li and took several steps back, saying, "Xiao Li, wake up! They're not human!"

"Aren't they human?" Xiao Li chewed blankly, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, mixing with his tears. "You're lying to me, they all taste the same!"

Xiao Li's eyes darted around rapidly as he grabbed at a staff member: "What do we do now? Now you know I've killed someone..."

The voice emanating from deep within his throat grew increasingly hoarse. With his mouth full of blood, Xiao Li stared at the staff. Suddenly, he pulled out the tools he usually used to dispose of android corpses from behind him: "I can't let you know I killed someone, you absolutely can't know!"

As Xiao Li screamed and rushed over, Han Fei arrived just in time and kicked Xiao Li's arm, breaking it.

"Is the ability to be happy the power to arouse everyone's latent murderous and criminal desires?" Han Fei found a rope and tied Xiao Li up to prevent him from continuing to harm himself, and then dug out the remains of the android from his mouth.

"It's like someone is constantly talking in his head, trying to seduce him," Assistant Tao said as he came over.

“This is unspeakable spiritual pollution.” Han Fei got up and walked back to the elevator: “We may encounter more researchers like this later. Remember, no matter how good your relationship is, don’t easily trust the people in this building.”

Huang Ying and Assistant Tao followed behind Han Fei. This time, without Han Fei saying anything, the staff member made the same choice as in the shrine memory world and rushed to Han Fei's side.

"Gao Xing knew the shrine was destroyed, yet he still dared to continue his plan. What are his trump cards? And how much power can he possibly wield in reality?"

The numbers on the elevator display screen began to change. Han Fei clasped his hands together. He had never encountered anything unspeakable in reality.

The screams inside the building grew more and more intense, but all the tragedy was hidden in the underground of the Eternal Life Building. In order to protect the company's core experimental secrets, the underground laboratory was completely isolated from the above-ground laboratory.

Lost in thought, the elevator, which was operating normally, suddenly shook violently. Then, Han Fei heard someone knocking on the elevator door.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The elevator finally stopped on the fifteenth basement level, and the knocking became increasingly frantic!

"Be prepared, there might be something dirty outside." Han Fei stood at the front, empty-handed. As the elevator doors slowly opened, a small clay sculpture appeared at the elevator entrance.

"Is that what's knocking on the door?" The staff member covered their eyes, but Han Fei showed no fear. He picked up the clay sculpture and smashed it with a punch.

After stepping out of the elevator, Han Fei suddenly realized that the knocking hadn't stopped; it was still ringing in his ears. He looked around, but there were no doors in sight.

"Can you still hear that knocking?" Han Fei asked in a low voice.

"The knocking stopped after you smashed the clay sculpture." Huang Ying noticed the change in Han Fei's expression: "Could it be that the clay sculpture has become attached to you?"

Han Fei shook his head: "I'm not quite sure either. The knocking seems to be a hint. Could it be that the other party is knocking on the door between the inner world and reality? Only the desperate person who is the key can hear it?"
