Chapter 918 is strange

"What a pity." Lan Zhijin agreed with Meng Shisan's words. The horse quickly used its magic to break the spell, but it was indeed a bit too late.

After Ma Ji and Lan Zhijin left, Meng Shisan returned to his bedroom for a short rest.

Half an hour later, when she woke up, she received a report from Tongyu: "Miss, Miss Jiang has arrived and is currently serving tea in Qingming Hall. A servant under Steward Chu came to ask if you would like to see her?"

Meng Shisan asked, "How long has Ayao been here?"

"It's been about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea," Tongyu heard from the servant.

"Go and bring A-Yao over." Meng Shisan remembered that he had promised Lu Luo that he would teach Jiang Ziyao something if he had the chance.

She's been busy lately and hasn't seen Jiang Ziyao for a while.

Tongyu then went to the front yard with the servant who was still waiting in the courtyard.

In the front yard, Jiang Ziyao sat in Qingming Hall waiting and waiting. Even with Steward Chu accompanying her and saying that he had sent a servant to Taichen Courtyard to report, she couldn't sit still.

She circled the hall at least ten times before the servant led Tongyu into the Qingming Hall: "Tongyu, are you alone? Where is Sister Yao?"

As she spoke, she glanced behind Tongyu several times.

Tongyu replied with a smile, "Miss Jiang, Miss is waiting for you at Taichen Courtyard."

"Really?" Jiang Ziyao immediately ran out of the hall, waving to Tongyu after a few steps, "Hurry up, don't keep Sister Yao waiting!"

Tong Yu smiled and agreed, then turned around and bowed to Butler Chu before quickly catching up with Jiang Ziyao, who had already recognized the path to the backyard after visiting a few times.

When Jiang Ziyao entered Mingxiao Hall, Meng Shisan was already sitting inside. Baozhu poured the freshly brewed pre-Qingming Longjing tea for Shangchun, while Jinyin laid out snacks for after a nap.

"Sister Yao!" Jiang Ziyao called out loudly as soon as she arrived at the entrance of Mingxiao Hall, and strode over the threshold toward Meng Shisan.

Meng Shisan sat in the side seat, with a table in the middle for tea and snacks. She pointed to the other seat and said to Jiang Ziyao, "Sit down and talk."

"Okay." Jiang Ziyao looked at the tea and snacks on the table, took a deep sniff, and exclaimed, "They smell so good!"

"When I heard you were coming, I specially had Jin Yin bring this from the small kitchen. Please try it," Meng Shisan said softly. "A couple of days ago, His Highness sent me another cartload of medicinal herbs. Among them were several cans of tea, including this pre-Qingming Longjing tea. Please try it too."

"Sister Yao, you're so kind! It's just that my uncle is a bit strange." Jiang Ziyao couldn't keep her mouth shut and immediately and happily betrayed Lu Luo.

"What's wrong with Young Master Lu acting so strangely?" Meng Shisan asked.

Jiang Ziyao picked up a teacup in one hand and a lotus cake in the other, and said frankly, "A few days ago, my cousin told me not to come to see you, saying that I shouldn't cause you any trouble. But these past two days, my cousin insisted that I come, saying that you were injured and he couldn't come, so he asked me to come and see you so that I could tell him everything when I got back."

She took a bite of the fragrant lotus-scented pastry and mumbled, "Sister Yao, do you think my uncle is strange?"

Meng Shisan understood why Lu Luo first told Jiang Ziyao not to come to her, and then told her to come to her. Jiang Ziyao, however, clearly hadn't figured it out herself, presumably unaware of the recent power struggles between Li Shou and Li Heng. Lu Luo had obviously not explained these crucial details to Jiang Ziyao, leading to her confusion about Lu Luo's inconsistent words and actions. "Second Young Master Lu must have his own opinions and plans," Meng Shisan said, also feeling that Jiang Ziyao, with her simple and straightforward mind, wasn't suited to know too much about the darker aspects of the power struggles within the imperial court, and thus offered only a perfunctory reply.

Jiang Ziyao has always lived a carefree and open life. As the only young lady of the Jiang family, her parents did not expect her to be anything special, but only hoped that she would live a peaceful and smooth life. Therefore, she was well protected from a young age. Later, when she followed Lu Luo, she was protected by him in a straightforward and honest way, without any hidden agendas or shameful thoughts.

Hearing Meng Shisan say this at this moment, she truly took it to heart: "What are Uncle's thoughts? What are his plans? What does he want to do? Does Sister Yao know?"

A series of questions arose.

Jin Yin went back to the small kitchen, while Bao Zhu and Tong Yu, along with Jiang Zi Yao's head maid Xi Ru, went to the outer courtyard to enjoy tea and snacks.

Looking at the scene in the courtyard, Meng Shisan said, "That's your cousin. Why are you asking me? You should ask Young Master Lu."

Jiang Ziyao ate with relish and followed Meng Shisan's gaze into the courtyard: "I asked him, and he said that I am still young and my brain cannot hold too many things, otherwise it will easily go wrong, and he will not be able to explain it to my father and mother."

She huffed angrily, "My uncle just doesn't want to tell me, but he still wants to order me around and then try to fool me! He thinks I don't understand? I understand perfectly well!"

Meng Shisan was amused by this and asked with a smile, "Then why do you still listen to Young Master Lu so much? If I tell you not to come to me, you really won't come; but if I tell you to come to me, you really come right away."

"Fine," Jiang Ziyao said with a magnanimous expression. "He's my most respected uncle, after all."

"I think you're just a coward, you don't have the guts to go up against your uncle." Meng Meijing's voice arrived before she did.

Upon hearing that Ma Ji and Lan Zhijin had left, and knowing that Meng Shisan had finished discussing important matters, she wanted to ask her elder sister what exactly had happened.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she entered the gate of Taichen Courtyard, she heard that Jiang Ziyao had arrived, so she ran even faster with Jixiang.

As soon as she arrived at the veranda outside Mingxiao Hall, she heard Jiang Ziyao's voice. After clearly hearing what Jiang Ziyao was saying, regardless of what Jiang Ziyao and her elder sister had said before, she had to retort.

She still vividly remembers the scene when Jiang Ziyao ran to Ruipeng to see her elder sister, and the scene where they shouted and fought each other.

"You're so bold, you dare to go against Sister Yao?" Jiang Ziyao retorted without backing down, giving Meng Meijing a sharp retort.

Meng Meijing walked to Meng Shisan's side, proudly raising her chin: "My older sister is doing well, she tells me everything! Why would I argue with her? I'm not as stupid as you."

Being called stupid made Jiang Ziyao unhappy. She refused to drink tea or eat snacks. She stood up and put her hands on her hips: "My uncle is good to me too. He doesn't tell me, but that's for my own good! I listen to my uncle because I'm not stupid. I know what I should and shouldn't get involved in!"

Meng Meijing was speechless, then suddenly realized that Jiang Ziyao's words made a lot of sense: "...Okay, you're not stupid either."

"Sit down, have some tea and snacks," Meng Shisan said with a smile. "You two aren't stupid."

Ignoring the fact that Jiang Ziyao was still there, Meng Meijing asked as soon as she sat down, "Sister, Master Ma and Master Lan came to see you. Is something new happening outside?"

Jiang Ziyao quickly perked up her ears and asked, "What's so interesting?"

“There.” Meng Shisan turned his head to look at the large sack that Ma Ji and Lan Zhijin had brought, which was placed next to the side seat on the other side of the hall.
