Chapter 811: The Confrontation with Tyr

Chapter 811 Conversation with Tyr
Midgard.

The waters of the Lake of Nine Realms rippled once more. The World Serpent, whose body stretched across the mountains, shifted its body again, submerging half of its enormous head in the lake and opening its massive mouth.

Meanwhile, at the small dock beneath the Bridge of the Temple, Kratos and his son, carrying Mimir's head, rowed a small boat into the gaping maw of Jormungandr.

Gazing at the snake's mouth, which seemed like an abyss, Mimir couldn't help but speak:

"Brother, I've been to many strange and wonderful places, but this is a new experience for me too."

Atreus wholeheartedly agreed: "I never imagined I'd one day be inside the belly of such a behemoth... And you, Father?"

Kratos replied calmly, "This is the first time I've voluntarily gone in."

Mimir blinked: "I'm pretty much used to your answers by now."

As the small boat entered the esophagus, Jormungandr slowly closed its mouth, leaving Kratos and his companions with only deep darkness... and of course, a strong stench.

Kratos, without further ado, said, "Let's go find your eyes."

The reason why the three of them went into Jormungandr's belly is quite simple.

When Jormungandr awoke earlier, he was annoyed by Thor's statue, so he simply ate the huge statue, chewing it up and swallowing it whole.

Unfortunately, Mimir's other eye was locked in a box by Odin and placed in a hidden compartment of Thor's statue.

Therefore, the only way for them to find Mimir's other eye was to enter the belly of the giant serpent.

Moreover, at this moment, none of the three knew why Li You said they needed Mimir's other eye.

Kratos decided to act without hesitation, firstly out of trust in Li You, and secondly for Mimir's sake.

Mimir had some vague guesses, but he was still not sure, so he said nothing.

They called upon Jormungandr, and Mimir told him what had happened. Jormungandr agreed to let them search inside his belly—as long as the statue was still inside him.

As Kratos and his companions moved forward along the "river," they gradually came to see light.

It was a faint, dark red light shining down from above, while the "river water," containing stomach acid, emitted a pungent odor and shimmered with a faint glow.

Further ahead, one can see small islands made up of various remnants of debris, and the small boat moves forward along the waterway, which is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate.

Perhaps to distract himself, Atreus asked, "Mimi, why did Jormungandr eat Thor's statue? Doesn't he feel pain?"

Mimir replied, "Well, I guess he'd be more annoyed to wake up and see Thor's face than to swallow the stone."

With nothing else to do, he began to tell Atreus stories.

"Jormungandr is Thor's nemesis, and they are destined to kill each other at Ragnarok. At that moment, the battle between Thor and Jormungandr shook Asgard and even the World Tree."

"As you know, the World Tree not only maintains the space of the Nine Realms, but also connects to time. Their battle shook the main trunk of the World Tree, which caused Jormungandr to be thrown into the past during the impact, returning to an era that was even earlier than his birth time, and he and Thor thus formed a deep hatred."

Atreus was incredulous: "So you mean this giant serpent came from the future? How is that possible?"

Mimir didn't elaborate on this point. He glanced at Kratos and said, "Well, if you find it hard to believe, just consider it an exaggeration inherent in mythology."

Kratos didn't comment on this; he simply looked ahead and said, "There's something ahead."

After rowing along the waterway for a long time, a much larger island finally appeared ahead, with Thor's broken statue embedded in it.

On this "island," you can even see a wooden tower crane. Most of the structure has been corroded, but the remaining parts still seem to be operational.

Kratos and his son Mimir disembarked here. After searching for a while, they climbed to a high place using a crane and finally found the treasure chest that Odin had hidden under the hammer of the Thor statue.

Kratos forcefully lifted the box open, revealing a golden metal prosthetic eye inside.

"found it."

Kratos brought Mimir's head up to him, and after Mimir agreed, he shoved the eye into Mimir's eye socket.

"...Oh, be gentle, take it slow...Mmm!"

In any case, Kratos managed to put the eye back into Mimir's possession.

Mimir, his eyes now fully open, blinked and said, "Thanks, brother. You only truly appreciate some things after you've lost sight of what's near and what's far."

“That’s wonderful, Mimir.” Atreus was also happy for Mimir, but he was still somewhat puzzled. “But I still don’t understand why Li You said we need Mimir’s eyes?”

Mimir then voiced his guess: "Perhaps it's because my eyes need to play a proper role?"

"As you all know, these Rainbow Bridge Stone Eyes were bestowed upon us by the giants. They can replace the Rainbow Bridge Stones and even the Teleportation Crystals, allowing me to travel between kingdoms in the simplest way. Perhaps Li You wants us to use these eyes to travel to Jotunheim?"

"...But that doesn't make sense either. Even if I had all my eyes, without the Jotunheim Kingdom Tower, it would be impossible to teleport to the kingdom."

Mimir couldn't guess any more.

Kratos, true to form, was a man of action: "Let's go back and find the dwarves first."

They then returned to the small boat and rowed back the way they came.

This time, unlike in the game, they weren't attacked by Baldr on their return journey, since Baldr was already dead.

So the three of them slid smoothly and steadily out of Jormungandr's open mouth.

As the enormous serpent head gradually rose, Atreus stood up and waved enthusiastically to Jormungandr, expressing his gratitude: "Thank you for your help!"

Jormungandr didn't ignore him; the huge serpent head nodded slightly before moving away again.

"He just nodded at me?" Atreus looked at Kratos and Mimir.

Mimir said, "Indeed, this big snake isn't friendly to everyone... I do remember, he said before that you looked familiar."

Atreus was puzzled again: "Me?"

“It’s alright, maybe he saw you in the future?” Mimir said. “Anyway, let’s go back to the dwarves. Hopefully, Bluebeard has returned.”

The three returned to the Temple of Tyr. Before they even entered, they heard laughter, shouts, and the sound of hammering metal coming from the front hall.

Upon entering again, he saw that in Brock's former blacksmith shop, besides himself, another familiar figure was helping out—of course, it was Sindri.

When the second phase of the operation arrived, the two dwarf brothers finally put aside their past grievances and reconciled.

Of course, the brothers themselves do not acknowledge this.

Seeing Kratos and the others come in, Brock said, "Don't get me wrong, I just noticed that this guy doesn't even have a place to stay warm. If he's left to run around outside, he'll freeze to death on the first day of Fimbulwinter!"

Sindri didn't argue with him, only saying, "I don't know who it was, but he came to me first, and almost got his toes frozen off because he didn't have any fire. I was the one who picked him up and took him home." "Hey, isn't that all because of you?"

"When I go out to find you, I won't forget to bring the necessary supplies!"

Although the two were bickering, Atreus was delighted: "I knew it, you two always care about each other."

"Alright, little princess, you're almost making me cry!" Brock waved his hand and grinned. "Stop with the nonsense, what are you here for?"

Getting back to the main point, at Kratos's prompting, Atreus handed over the drawings he had made on Tyr's drawing board.

"what is this?"

……

Meanwhile, on the mountaintop where the battlefield had previously been.

Li You stood on the edge of the cliff, gazing at the Lake of Nine Realms and the Temple of Tyr in the distance, while Youzi stood behind him, waiting quietly.

Footsteps came from the mountain path to the side, and Tyr, still dressed simply, walked slowly and squatted down gently beside Li You and the other person.

It's not for any other reason than that he's so tall that it's easier to communicate when he squats down.

“…I’ve tried to persuade Freya,” Tyr said first. “She hasn’t fully recovered from her grief and can’t let go of her hatred, but she has come to realize one thing: her tragedy was ultimately caused by Odin.”

"In other words, she won't seek revenge on you and Kratos; she'll only be looking for Odin. But I suggest you both stay away from her for now."

Li You nodded and looked at Tyr: "I regret Freya's tragedy, but neither Kratos nor I can watch Baldr kill her."

"You're probably the only one who can persuade her. Thank you for your help, Tyr."

Tyr shook his head: "I only did something insignificant. Badr's fate saddens me, but some things are perhaps unavoidable."

Although that's what he said, Li You knew very well that apart from him, there was probably no one else in the entire Nine Realms who could persuade Freya on this matter; it was by no means a trivial matter.

Previously, after Tyr escaped from Asgard, he returned to Midgard. Li You, having had some free time, immediately went to find him.

Afterwards, Li You explained Baldr's situation to Tyr and asked him to go and talk to Freya.

Tyr went without hesitation and made quite remarkable progress.

Li You was even prepared that Tyr wouldn't be able to persuade Freya, but he never expected that Tyr would be able to do it so perfectly.

"Before I left, I asked Freya to keep my visit a secret. She will probably try to break the curse and prepare for her future revenge."

Tyr stared intently at Li You. "And you? What are your plans next?"

Li You knew that Tyr was actually asking about the important matter of the future of the Nine Realms.

In Tyr's view, he was also one of the key figures who had the ability to determine the future of the Nine Realms.

In fact, Li You had no particular ideas about the future of the Nine Realms. After all, he was just a passerby. However, he did have his own goals.

“As I told you before, I am a collector from a faraway land,” Li You said. “I am not a resident of the Nine Realms, nor do I have any plans to stay here for long, so I have no intention of doing anything.”

"If that's the case, why did you risk going to Asgard to rescue me? We all know you didn't go because you believed Odin's invitation."

Tyr didn't believe Li You's statement, but even though he questioned it, it didn't offend anyone.

Li You smiled and said, "Well, I haven't finished yet. Although I don't have any ideas about the future of the Nine Realms, there are things that interest me."

“In every country I visit, I take away the most valuable treasure there. I have roughly seen the treasures of this land, and I already have a target.”

As he spoke, he looked into Tyr's eyes and said, "I think Odin's spear, Gungnir, would be perfect for adding to my collection."

Tyr was taken aback, but upon seeing Li You's expression, he immediately understood what he meant.

Li You meant that he had no interest in the power or divine positions of the Nine Realms; he only wanted to deal with Odin.

Tyr glanced at Li You and quickly realized that he was telling the truth:
"Although I've long noticed that you're different from others, this answer still came as a surprise. Do you have a personal grudge against Odin?"

Li You said, "I wouldn't say that. I just don't think someone like him is suitable to continue playing the role of the 'father of the gods' of this land."

Tyr nodded: "We can agree on this issue. I also believe that Odin is unfit to rule the Nine Realms. Over the long years, he has proven himself to be suspicious, ruthless, and cruel."

"However, it won't be an easy task to bring down Odin."

Li You smiled again: "Well, I'll probably have to ask you and Freya to take care of this. Also, Kratos is trustworthy."

“Kratos…” Tyr pondered for a moment, “When you mentioned him before, I felt like I’d heard his name somewhere before, and now I remember.”

"He must be that one, the Greek god of war, the god-slayer."

"Yes, but he is not the same person he was when he wiped out the entire Greek pantheon."

Tyr guessed something: "Because of...family?"

"Yes."

Tyr nodded. "I understand. Although my primary task at this stage is to evade Odin's detection, I will still try to make contact with those two. So, what are you going to do next?"

This time, he asked about Li You's action plan, and Li You answered truthfully: "First, I'll go to Niflheim and Muspelheim. I've already collected all the rune disk fragments."

“If you’re looking for teleportation runes, I actually have all of that,” Tyr reminded him. “I can also give you the highest level of access to my temple, which will make things much easier for you when you travel between kingdoms in the future.”

Li You: "..."

"Thank you so much. I wish you had told me sooner."

“If I had known your needs sooner, I certainly would have told you,” Tyr smiled. “You’re going to those two kingdoms to find the Valkyries hiding there? That might take quite a while…”

But Li You said, "Finding the two Valkyries is indeed one of my goals, but it's not just that."

“Speaking of which, I was just about to ask you a question.” He looked at Tyr, his eyes shining. “Do you… know Surtr and Simara?”

Tyr: "...!?"

"What do you want to do?"

Li You smiled strangely: "I have some immature ideas about how to bring down Odin."

"If it's convenient for you, come with me to Somur. I have something I'd like to show you."
