Ke-style law enforcement officers

Chapter 40 Physical Fitness Assessment

Chapter 40 Physical Fitness Assessment
The first part of the comprehensive test is not strictly speaking an exam, but a routine physical examination. Normally, this step should be carried out by the candidate alone at a designated medical unit. However, the law enforcement system has its own standards, and even if there is a health certificate issued by a hospital, it must be checked again.

In this section, the vast majority of candidates will be eliminated, and those who are eliminated will not be eligible to proceed to the next section.

Of course, being rejected does not mean being disqualified from the exam. If their written test scores are above the passing mark, the law enforcement system will select a portion of them from top to bottom according to the required number of civilian positions. This will depend on their individual written test scores.

The comprehensive exam is designed to select well-rounded individuals capable of undertaking law enforcement duties. Those who can write but not handle a gun have no need to participate in the later exams.

……

After the physical examination, Group 23 lined up and waited quietly for the examiners to give instructions.

Charles divided the team members into two groups based on the medical examination data he had received.

"Those of you can go back first, or you can go to the stands and watch the excitement."

He didn't say much nonsense, and with a wave of his hand, he signaled the remaining 5 people on the other side to follow.

Those guys who were left standing there were dumbfounded.

He was eliminated in the very first round! Why?!

They looked at each other, but no one dared to question Charles's judgment. They could only watch helplessly as Charles left with the remaining five candidates.

……

Milo was naturally one of the remaining five.

Actually, he was a little nervous during the physical examination. Because of his voyeurism, he had been in a bad state lately. He wouldn't be surprised if he failed the first round of physical examinations.

But after conducting a series of examinations, the medical staff told him – "Young man, you're in good health."

Milo was a little confused.

You probably don't know that this young man has been getting nosebleeds frequently these past few days.

……

Starting with the second assessment, the style gradually shifted towards a more hardcore approach.

By the time of the second assessment, the number of candidates on the training field had shrunk by more than half, and some examiners had even had their groups cleared out and were now sitting in the spectator seats watching the show.

"The physical fitness test will be demonstrated by the students from the Law Enforcement Academy in a little while, so I won't explain it. You can see for yourselves."

Charles probably didn't think these academic kids could achieve anything good; he figured it would be good enough if they could just get through the whole process, so he didn't bother to say much to them.

His slacking off put immense pressure on the few remaining candidates in the group.

But Milo, a completely untrained candidate, remained calm. He showed no signs of panic, simply standing still and stretching his joints and warming up, while intently watching the other candidates who had already begun their physical fitness tests.

The first batch of physical fitness tests has officially begun.

The content is actually not complicated, consisting of three parts: basic physical fitness, 400-meter obstacle course, and 5-kilometer weighted run.

The basic physical fitness test consists of a few exercises: pull-up bar, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups. Each exercise is timed for 2 minutes, and you only need to complete the required number of repetitions.

The 400-meter obstacle course is set up in the middle of the training field, including various obstacles such as trenches, ladders, low walls, log bridges, and high walls. Completing the course within the specified time is considered passing.

The final 5-kilometer weighted run, according to the examiners, should have been conducted outdoors, but that would have been too harsh on candidates from other colleges. So, after the assessment reform, this event was moved to an indoor track, where participants ran laps on a perfectly stable training field, which is relatively humane.

Milo looked around and confirmed that these assessment items were not much different from those he had "seen" before, which boosted his confidence.

……

The physical fitness assessment was conducted in an orderly manner.

With the number of test takers significantly reduced, the spacious venue allowed multiple groups to be assessed at the same time. Milo's group and several other groups, including the one led by Rebecca, were integrated together.

Each examiner is responsible for timing and scoring their respective team members.

The first stage went relatively smoothly.

After all, they came prepared. The other members of the group had also completed the basic physical fitness test. For adult men, if they can't even do basic exercises like push-ups and sit-ups, they shouldn't even think about joining the law enforcement team.

Starting with the 400-meter obstacle course in the second stage, the difficulty increases rapidly.

Obstacle course training requires a long period of repeated practice to master, and the assessment standard is speed. If you are not familiar with the course, you will not only fail to pass the test, but you will also likely fall and get seriously injured.

The first person to go on stage in the group of five is a perfect example.

After falling off the log bridge, I sprained my ankle and could no longer stand up straight.

Similar scenes were playing out in multiple locations on the training field at the same time. The examiners initially found it "unbearable to watch," but eventually became completely accustomed to this chaotic scene. If a candidate fell, they would have medical personnel come and pull the person away, and then call on the next unlucky candidate to take the stage.

……

In the five-person assessment group, the first two fell halfway through the race, and the third person dawdled on the high wall for a long time, unable to climb it no matter what he did. He hung on the wall like a maggot, and in the end, Charles couldn't bear to watch anymore and pulled him out of the obstacle course.

Rebecca, with her group members waiting on the side, crossed her arms and leaned against the horizontal bar, rolling her eyes the entire time.

Charles tossed the kid aside, glanced at the list in his hand, and called out a name: "Colin, take over."

"Yes!"

The only handsome young man left in the group besides Milo jogged into the obstacle course and began his first run after Charles gave the order to start.

Whoosh!
This guy moves with incredible speed, like a primary school student getting out of school on a Friday, his hair practically flying everywhere...

During the first 100-meter dash, everyone only saw a shadow glide across the field. By the time they came to their senses, the second obstacle course had already begun.

……

"Oh?" Charles, a graduate of the law enforcement academy, could tell at a glance who was trained and who was an amateur. When Colin quickly crossed the trench, Charles's expression changed from annoyance and speechlessness to surprise.

Because Colin's movements, speed, and posture are all absolutely standard, even law enforcement academy candidates may not be able to reach that level.

"I did my homework."

He glanced down at the list in his hand, specifically checking Colin's notes, and smiled knowingly:
"So he comes from a military family, no wonder... Well then, it's worth it. If we can find a good candidate out of a dozen people, this trip will have been worthwhile."

Charles's expression suddenly changed halfway through his sentence.

"Damn it, I forgot to keep track of the time."

He never expected his five kids to actually pass the 400-meter obstacle course, especially given the performance of the first three. He didn't even bother timing them; he just waited to see when he could go up and bring them back.

So the pocket watch he was holding in his hand never moved from beginning to end...

"What the fuck..."

Charles scratched the back of his head, looking utterly exasperated.

Just as Colin finished his four laps and jogged back, panting heavily, looking at Charles expectantly, Rebecca's voice drifted from the side:

"1 minutes 50 seconds."

Charles glanced back and saw Rebecca leaning against the horizontal bar, expressionlessly waving her pocket watch. He immediately gave her a grateful look, then turned back and patted Colin on the shoulder with a big laugh.

"That's great, that's a very good score, it's among the best in the law enforcement academy."

……

It wasn't until this moment that Milo realized what was happening.

Colin, oh my god, that's why that sounded so familiar. Isn't that the handsome senior from Enid's college?

He looked the tall, handsome young man up and down.

Hmm... he really is handsome.

Colin is the type of person who has both masculine and feminine qualities, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he is appealing to all ages and genders. Moreover, he is outstanding in terms of academic performance and background.

If you add the plot point of losing both parents, then it's definitely a protagonist's script.

……

"Valrokan? What are you spacing out for?! Can't you hear me?!"

Just as Milo was lost in his fantasies, Charles's roar jolted him awake.

"Hey! Coming, coming!"

Milo quickly checked the laces of his boots and jogged into the obstacle course.

He glanced back and met Rebecca's gaze. She raised an eyebrow at him, waving her pocket watch, looking like she was waiting for a good show. The unspoken message was probably, "I'm keeping track of your time."

……

...

at the same time.

In the audience seats.

"I saw it! I saw it! It's Colin! Did you time it? How many seconds? How many seconds?" Enid and her roommates were incredibly excited after witnessing Colin's impressive 400-meter obstacle course.

"Around 1 minute and 30 seconds, that's amazing!!"

"As expected of my dear Colin, he's so handsome. I must reward him properly. I'm willing to be his weight and let him carry me for the remaining 5 kilometers."

"You're kidding me. He couldn't even run twenty meters while I was carrying him."

Enid attacks her roommate with the venomous lines of her best friend Emma.

A group of girls were chattering and teasing each other.

Just then, Enid suddenly spotted a familiar figure entering the assessment area.

After squinting to confirm the person's identity, she patted her roommate and urged her:
"Hey, let's time him too."

"Who is this? Is he from our college? I've never seen him before."

"I don't know him, why would I time him? He'll probably be hanging on the wall soon, just like the others, right?"

"Hey, no way, he's not as handsome as my senior Colin. Look at his messy hair..."

……

“Just do what I told you to do, stop with the nonsense. This is Emma’s little brother…”

Enid snatched the pocket watch from her roommate with a huff, reset the hands to zero, looked up at the center of the training field, and prepared to press the timer switch.

But the next second she discovered that Milo, who had been standing at the starting point, had disappeared.

"Hey, where is everyone?"
