Chapter 691 Gloating over misfortune

Chapter 691 Gloating over misfortune
He was a thief, lazy and even committed highway robbery. If it weren't for the fact that his mother raised him with great difficulty, he would have been taken to the police station long ago.

Now that Meng Ming is missing, although everyone says words of comfort, they secretly feel that he deserves it, and even feel a little gloating.

Listening to these sarcasm and ridicule, Meng's mother felt heartbroken, but she could do nothing about it.

She sat down on the side of the road, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar village in front of her, and suddenly felt extremely lonely and helpless.

In the Lin family's courtyard, Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin sat at the table, watching Uncle Lin set the table. The atmosphere was a bit depressing.

"Uncle Lin, do you think something really happened to Meng Ming?" Wang Xinxin broke the silence and asked worriedly.

Uncle Lin sighed and placed a bowl of steaming millet porridge in front of Wang Xinxin. "Who knows? That child has been wild since he was young. Maybe he ran away to the mountains to play."

"But it rained so heavily last night, and the mountain road is already difficult to walk on. If we encounter any accidents..." Wang Xinxin was hesitant to speak, and all kinds of terrible scenes emerged in her mind.

Lin Ke frowned and tapped the table lightly with his fingers, making a crisp sound.

"I seemed to hear a scream last night, right in the direction of the back mountain." Lin Ke suddenly said, with a hint of uncertainty in his tone.

"Screaming? You couldn't have heard it wrongly. It rained so heavily last night, how could you have heard a scream?" Uncle Lin shook his head, obviously not believing what Lin Ke said.

Wang Xinxin also found it a little unbelievable, but when she saw Lin Ke’s serious expression, she felt that he didn’t seem to be joking.

"I also hope that I heard it wrong, but the feeling was very real, just like..." Lin Ke tried hard to recall the feeling last night, trying to find some clues from it.

"Like what?" Wang Xinxin asked.

"It's like... someone is asking for help." Lin Ke said this slowly, with a hint of solemnity in his tone.

"That must be an illusion," Uncle Lin guessed.

"Xinxin, don't worry, let's find a way to contact the outside world first." Lin Ke held Wang Xinxin's hand, trying to give her some comfort, but there was a hint of anxiety in his eyes.

"But, there is no signal on the cell phone, how can we contact each other?" Wang Xinxin's eyes were red again. She was like a frightened little bird and urgently needed to find a safe haven.

"Xinxin, don't be afraid, I'm here." Lin Ke gently put his arms around Wang Xinxin's shoulders, his tone firm and gentle.

On the other side, at the other end of the city, there was chaos and war.

"What? What did you say? Say it again!" Wang Ze stood up suddenly, and the teacup in his hand slipped and fell to the ground with a crisp sound. The tea splashed on his trouser legs, but he was completely unaware.

Director Li's voice on the other end of the phone was extremely anxious: "Boss Wang, Lin Ke and Xin Xin are missing! We searched the entire crew but couldn't find them!"

Wang Ze felt a buzzing in his head, his vision went dark, and he almost fell down.

"What happened? How could it disappear out of nowhere?" Wang Ze tried to calm himself down, but his voice couldn't help but tremble.

Director Li quickly explained, "It rained heavily last night. This morning we found that Lin Ke and Xin Xin were not in the room, and our cell phones were unreachable. We thought they went out for a walk, but when we asked everyone in the crew, they all said they had never seen them."

"Have you called the police?" Wang Ze's voice was low and hoarse.

"The police have been called and are investigating," Director Li replied.

Wang Ze hung up the phone, his face was terribly gloomy. He picked up his coat and strode out of the office.

"Boss Wang, where are you going?" the secretary asked hurriedly. "Prepare the car, go to the crew!" Wang said without turning his head.

Along the way, Wang Ze's heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible big hand, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.

He couldn't believe that his precious daughter was missing.

Wang Xinxin has been held in his palm since she was a child. He was afraid that she would melt if he held her in his mouth, and afraid that she would fall if he held her in his hand. She has never suffered any grievances.

Now, she is missing and her life or death is unknown.

Wang Ze wanted to tear those who kidnapped his daughter into pieces.

The car sped all the way and soon arrived at the film and television city where the crew was located.

As soon as Wang Ze got out of the car, he saw Director Li and the crew members waiting anxiously at the door.

"Mr. Wang, you're here!" Director Li stepped forward, his face full of guilt and self-blame.

"What's the situation? Is there any news about my daughter?" Wang Ze grabbed Director Li's arm and asked anxiously.

Director Li shook his head and said in a heavy tone, "Not yet. The police have retrieved nearby surveillance videos, but have not found any clues yet."

Wang Ze felt a black screen before his eyes and almost fainted.

"Mr. Wang, please take care of yourself!" Director Li quickly supported Wang Ze and said worriedly.

Wang Ze took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

"Director Li, please arrange people immediately to expand the search range. You must find my daughter!" Wang Ze's voice was hoarse and firm, revealing an unquestionable majesty.

"Yes, Mr. Wang!" Director Li did not dare to delay and quickly arranged people to search for Wang Xinxin's whereabouts.

Wang Ze stood there, looking at the busy crowd in front of him, feeling full of powerlessness.

How he wished that this was all just a nightmare and that everything would return to normal once he woke up.

"Mr. Wang, look, there is only one river nearby. Will they..." A search and rescue team member pointed at the winding blue line on the map, and seemed to be hesitant to speak.

Wang Ze frowned and looked in the direction of the team member's finger, his expression became even gloomier.

"You mean, they might have fallen into the river?" Wang Ze's voice was terribly low, as if it was squeezed out from between his teeth.

"We are not sure, but..." The search and rescue team members chose their words carefully, fearing that they would offend this powerful entertainment tycoon. "It rained heavily last night, and the river water swelled rapidly. Moreover, we did not find any clues elsewhere..."

"You mean, my daughter and Lin Ke, they might have been washed away by the river?" Wang Ze stood up suddenly, grabbed the collar of the search and rescue team members, his eyes red, like an angry lion.

"Boss Wang, calm down first!" Director Li saw this and stepped forward to dissuade them. "There is no conclusive evidence to prove that they fell into the river. We still have hope. We must believe that they are still alive!"

"Yes, Mr. Wang, we will do our best to search and rescue, don't worry!" Other search and rescue team members also spoke up to comfort him.

Wang Ze took a deep breath, tried hard to suppress the anger and fear in his heart, and slowly loosened his hand that was holding the collar of the search and rescue team member.
