Chapter 932 Hollywood Premiere

“Mike, listen to me, I don’t need fancy tricks. What I need is the most realistic sense of power and the sharp feeling of the blows. I don’t need those fancy slow-motion shots.”

Sun Yi sat in front of his computer, with a video call on, watching the initial motion graphics sample of "Man of Steel" while communicating with the project manager in the digital domain.

Perhaps because it was their first time working with Sun Yi and they were unfamiliar with Sun Yi's camera preferences, the project manager followed the special effects habits of other directors, adding many meaningless slow-motion scenes to the action effects.

It certainly looks cool, but it greatly diminishes the overall fluidity of the movements.

Sun Yi watched the special effects sample, which was less than 3 minutes long, over and over again. Finally, he frowned, shook his head, and said, "Mike, no, it needs to be scrapped and redone."

Fearing that the person in charge might not have fully understood, he gave a brief explanation.

“3D movies have been around for two years, and moviegoers are no strangers to these special effects. They are nothing new. Only directors who can’t innovate in action sequences and camera work will frequently pile up those meaningless slow-motion shots. They may look cool, but they do nothing to benefit the film as a whole. My movies don’t need these.”

"Okay, boss, I understand!"

"Okay, let's make a small sample first, and I'll go to the company to take a look tomorrow."

"OK, boss!"

The video connection dropped, and Sun Yi played the sample video again. After watching it several times, he still shook his head helplessly.

It looks cool while watching, but movie fans will probably forget about it in no time.

However, he was also somewhat relieved that he discovered the problem before the overall special effects were fully implemented, so he could fix it immediately. It would have been a tragedy if the problem had been discovered after most of the special effects were already done.

Actually, it's partly his fault. Filming had already wrapped up for two days, and as the director, he should have gone to the special effects department to give some personal guidance. But because of some things that can't be discussed in detail, he was delayed.

After all, they had been filming for over a month straight, and both he and Liu Yifei were completely immersed in their work, leaving no time for their married life. Now that filming had finally wrapped up, they deserved a break.

It's not like the emperor stopped holding court from then on; it's only been two days.
Just as he was pondering this, the "culprit" who had caused him to neglect his morning court quietly slipped into the study. Seeing Sun Yi still sitting in front of the computer, working, she frowned slightly and gently knocked on the door twice.

"Ha, wife!"

Sun Yi first agreed, then turned his head.

The two stayed in their small villa in Beverly Hills, with no one else around except each other.

Yeah!

Sun Yi, who had just turned his head, was stunned when he saw Liu Yifei.

Liu Yifei leaned against the door, wearing a moon-white off-shoulder dress that accentuated her incredibly graceful figure. Her black hair cascaded down her back, her skin was as white as snow, and her pretty face, which had clearly been well-moisturized, was rosy and lovely.

"Why are you so formal? Going out on a date tonight?"

"A date with you? You're kidding me!" Liu Yifei was so exasperated by her husband that she laughed. Pointing to the clock on the wall, she asked helplessly, "Have you forgotten something? Tonight!"

Sun Yi was still a bit confused. After thinking for a while, he realized what was happening and slapped his forehead. "Oh my god, we're going to Tom Cruise's premiere tonight!"

"Hurry up and change your clothes!"

Tonight in Los Angeles, the evening breeze is cool, but the starlight is exceptionally dazzling. Not because of the stars in the sky, but because of the nearly 100-meter-long red carpet laid out in front of the Grauman Theatre, and the Hollywood stars shining brightly on it.

Paramount Pictures' action blockbuster "Jack the Thief," starring Tom Cruise, will hold its premiere here. As Hollywood stars walked the red carpet, a black luxury car quietly pulled up at the starting point. The door opened, and a man and a woman stepped out hand in hand.

The man wore a well-tailored dark suit, without excessive embellishment, yet he appeared tall and composed. His Eastern face was sharply defined under the spotlight, and he wore a gentle smile. It was Sun Yi, who had just finished filming "Man of Steel" and had not yet returned to China.

His female companion, dressed in a halter-neck gown inspired by the ancient Greek Heton, looked like a fairy who had stepped out of an Eastern classical painting. She gently held Sun Yi's arm, a perfectly timed smile on her lips, and her clear eyes seemed to gather all the brilliance in the room as she glanced around.

Who else could it be but "Fairy Sister" Liu Yifei?
Their outfits, one modern and the other classic, looked surprisingly harmonious together, without the slightest sense of incongruity.

Their appearance immediately caused quite a stir on the red carpet. A group of Hollywood entertainment reporters were momentarily stunned, but once they realized who they were, the sound of camera shutters clicking rapidly increased.

"Sun! Crystal! Look here!"

"This way, please come this way!"

Sun Yi calmly nodded to the media area, while Liu Yifei cooperated by striking a few simple poses, which triggered another flurry of flashes from the cameras.

The two of them were basically at ease in handling this kind of situation.

As you climb the theater steps, you'll be greeted by tonight's star – Tom Cruise.

He still had that signature, infectious smile, and upon seeing Sun Yi and Liu Yifei, he immediately opened his arms warmly to greet them.

"Thanks, my brother! It's so great that you came!" Tom Cruise patted Sun Yi on the back, then gave Liu Yifei a very gentlemanly hug. "And beautiful Crystal, your presence makes tonight even more dazzling."

"Tom, congratulations on the release of your new film," Sun Yi replied with a smile. "Of course we'll come to support you."

During their conversation, the two men tacitly recalled the twists and turns of the "Jack the Thief" project.

This project, which was originally supposed to be completed last year, was delayed because Sun Yi "hijacked" the project midway through and invited Tom Cruise to star in "Edge of Tomorrow".

Originally, according to Sun Yi's idea, Tom Cruise might not have starred in this movie anymore. But later it was learned that he had already signed an investment contract with Paramount and was also one of the film's producers.

The project was postponed due to "Edge of Tomorrow".

Strictly speaking, Sun Yi owes Tom Cruise a favor.

After all, he had put aside his work and faced the risk of breaching his contract. Although, given Tom Cruise's current status, even if he did breach the contract, Paramount couldn't do anything to him.

But Sun Yi was still very grateful.

Of course, the success of "Edge of Tomorrow" after its release also shows that Tom Cruise made a wise choice at the time.

After filming "Edge of Tomorrow" wrapped up and Sun Yi and Liu Yifei were preparing for their wedding, Tom Cruise quickly flew back to the United States and finished making the film.

A while ago, when he talked to Sun Yi about the premiere of "Jack the Thief" being scheduled for April, Sun Yi readily agreed that as long as the filming schedule for "Man of Steel" wasn't too tight, he would definitely bring Liu Yifei to support the film.

Looking back now, everything is just right.

This month is even busier than August, so updates will be very irregular. I apologize to everyone!
