Chapter 773 "The Crown Prince Exchanges for a Civet Cat"

Without getting out of the car, the driver drove directly into the courtyard behind the chapel through the side door.

Flowers are in bloom, vegetation is lush, and the white marble makes this place appear incredibly sacred.

At least that's how it looks from the outside.

"get off."

The driver coldly urged Gao Ming on. He took a deep breath; the air inside the chapel was different from the outside, carrying an exciting fragrance.

"The smell seems different than before."

"This way." The bishop kindly pushed Gao Ming into the chapel, and they turned into a secret passage, going downhill.

Devout prayers filled the air, soft light shone on the faces of every believer, the pure white pastor's robes seemed like God's canvas, and the scattered light spots resembled angel feathers.

Walking past the statues of Tzu Chi members, whose stories are inscribed on the walls—doctors who saved hundreds of lives, heroes who rushed into restricted areas, philanthropic tycoons, and highly respected scholars—their radiance dispelled the darkness, and even the statues themselves evoked a sense of goodwill.

The fragrance in the air gradually faded. Gao Ming and Ci Xiang passed through three doors in a row. The temperature slowly rose. Whether it was due to the surrounding atmosphere or some other reason, sweat appeared on Gao Ming's forehead.

"The councilwoman is resting at the bottom; she's been too tired lately."

At the fourth gate, Gao Ming and the kind-hearted bishop were stopped. Two young women who had lost both ears stood on either side of him, and they took out various instruments to scan every inch of Gao Ming's body.

Guns, weapons, and even metal buttons were left behind. Only after confirming that there were no dangerous items did the two signal that Gao Ming could pass.

“Come with us.” Two young women bowed kindly. “The councilor is very tired and only wants to see Li Sansi today.”

"Foolish! This Li Sansi is full of evil intentions and looks like a wolf! I must see the councilor today. She absolutely cannot trust Li Sansi anymore!" Cixiang said, trying to force her way in. Just a moment ago, the gentle woman was soft-spoken, but after Cixiang took a step, her fingers flicked, and a sharp knife appeared in her hand.

"Save your energy. These two have had their ears cut off, so they can't hear you. They'll only do what the councilor orders." Gao Ming followed the two women into the fourth door.

His previous meetings with Tzu Chi Hospital had all taken place in the hospital's office; this was his first time venturing deep into the chapel's underground chambers.

After walking a long way, a fifth door appeared before Gao Ming.

"The councilor is waiting for you inside." After the two women finished speaking, they turned around and stood guard at the door to ensure that no one except Gao Ming could enter.

As Gao Ming gently turned the doorknob, a sudden stench of blood jarred the aroma that filled the passageway. Before he even entered, he heard the dull thud of a wooden stick striking flesh.

Looking up, the scene before him caused Gao Ming's pupils to shrink, focusing on a single point.

The bodies of two young men lay sprawled on the ground, their hands and feet bound tightly until death, their features distorted from beatings, and black blood oozing from large holes in their heads.

The dark curtains were half-open, and shards of broken wine bottles were scattered everywhere, wine and blood mixed together, a stench both bloody and intoxicating. A dull thud continued, as if someone were pounding on a broken drum, forcing it to make a sound.

With his fingers lifting the curtain, Gao Ming saw a pair of twin boys lying on the edge of the pool, while Councilor Ci, haphazardly draped in a pastor's coat, was frantically waving a wooden stick in his hand.

The flickering candlelight cast her shadow on the wall, making her look menacing and grotesque, like a demon just crawled out of hell.

Blood soaked through her white priest's robes, but she didn't stop. She kicked and punched until her arms ached and she could no longer swing the heavy wooden stick.

"Snapped!"

She casually tossed the wooden stick to the ground, and the disheveled councilor Ci slumped down beside the pool, her body dripping with a mixture of sweat and blood. Leaning against the two indistinct corpses, she gasped for breath, her chest heaving.

After a long while, Councilor Ci looked at Gao Ming, her expression becoming beautiful and gentle again, full of maternal radiance. But the more she looked like this, the more glaring the blood beads on her face became.

The video taken by Wan Sheng is completely authentic. This councilor Ci was struggling to suppress her destructive urges in front of the public, but once she was in the dark room, she began to unleash them without restraint. She was even worse than Gao Ming had imagined.

"Good evening, future female mayor." Gao Ming stood at the bottom of the steps, looking at the pool above the ground, or rather, the pool of blood.

"Come here." The slumped councilor Ci beckoned to Gao Ming, but Gao Ming stood still. "Are you afraid? You completed the task I gave you so well, why are you afraid?"

"Is this your way of venting because of the immense pressure from the city council hall?" Gao Ming scanned the surrounding corpses.

"I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now!" Councilor Ci still couldn't control herself. Blood dripped to the corner of her mouth. She grabbed the wooden stick and stood up, as if she was blinded by anger or as if the effects of the alcohol hadn't worn off. She walked straight toward Gao Ming: "I told you not to mess with the Thirteenth District!"

“Even if you don’t provoke them, they will still come after you. You are a councilor, so you know best how those people do things.” Gao Ming saw Councilor Ci raise the wooden stick, but he still didn’t stop talking: “In their eyes, you are just a piece of fat meat that they can eat at any time.”

"Am I a piece of meat that anyone can eat?" Councilor Ci seemed to recall some past events; her expression was gloomy and terrifying, and every vein in her body throbbed.

"You know everything, which is why you vent your anger on these innocent people. There's no lust, only destruction and violence. There's a monster inside you." The stranger's blood soaked through Gao Ming's shoes, sticky and seeping in.

“Yes, I know everything.” Councilor Ci grabbed a document from the table and threw it at Gao Ming: “I have compared all of Li Sansi’s information, and now I know perfectly well that you are an outsider.”

Paper scraps fluttered on the blood; white represented the truth, and red represented the facts.

“It was exposed a bit too quickly, but I never intended to hide it.” Gao Ming looked down at the documents. “My identity is not important to you. What is important is that we have a common enemy—the Municipal Council.”

“You don’t really think we’ve always been partners, do you?” Councilor Ci seemed to have heard something very funny. She sprinkled a bottle of her personal perfume in front of her, and the unique fragrance spread rapidly. Several young women with their ears cut off emerged from outside the door and from the corner of the room. They surrounded Gao Ming with weapons in hand: “You’ve done a lot for me, and I’m very grateful. Now I need your help again.”

Councilor Tzu's smile was terrifying, like that of a devil: "Tonight I will carve the patterns I found in the restricted area all over your skin, so that you can impersonate the leader among the outsiders. When dawn breaks, I will send you to the municipal council hall and use you to buy some more time for the development of Tzu Chi."
