Solving the case: Combining the police dog's olfactory genes at the beginning
Chapter 1195: His experiences were too legendary.
While organizing the documents, Luo Fei replied, "Well, I used to be a street urchin. Later, I accidentally participated in the investigation of a case, made a contribution, and was specially recruited into the police force. I started as an auxiliary police officer at Xiaohegou Police Station and gradually became a full-fledged police officer."
Yuan Bingyan looked at him in surprise: "From a street urchin to a criminal police captain? That's an amazing story."
Luo Fei smiled and said, "My master is the director of Xiahegou Police Station. He saw that I had some talent, so he focused on training me. He even gave me a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which I now use as a police car."
"A Mercedes-Benz G-Class as a police car?" Yuan Bingyan couldn't help but laugh. "This is probably the most expensive police car in the entire Jiangcheng."
Luo Fei picked up the car keys: "Let's go, let's meet Yin Liluo. I have a feeling that this person is definitely related to the disappearance case."
As the two left the office, Yuan Bingyan was still processing Luo Fei's backstory. She hadn't expected her brilliant detective boss to have such an unusual background.
On the way, Luo Fei analyzed, "The timing of Yin Liluo's club's sudden closure is very suspicious. He still had money to donate in August 2012, but suddenly cancelled the club in October. Something must have happened in between."
Yuan Bingyan nodded: "Moreover, all four missing persons are connected to his club, which is definitely not a coincidence."
Luo Fei's expression was grave: "I suspect that Yin Liluo might be the person we're looking for. Or at least, he knows some inside information."
The car drove towards Yin Liluo's residence, and both of them fell silent, each contemplating their next investigation strategy. Yuan Bingyan secretly glanced at Luo Fei, who was driving, and felt a surge of admiration for him. The hardships he had endured to rise from a street urchin to a criminal investigation captain were unimaginable.
Luo Fei focused on driving, his mind already planning his strategy for questioning Yin Liluo. He needed to proceed cautiously, avoiding alerting her while simultaneously gathering as much useful information as possible. This case involved too many complexities and required careful handling.
The atmosphere inside the car was somewhat quiet. Yuan Bingyan hesitated for a moment, but still couldn't help asking, "Captain Luo, may I ask about your family? I don't think I've ever heard you mention your family before."
Luo Fei paused slightly on the steering wheel, his tone calm: "My parents were both narcotics police officers, and they died in the line of duty when I was very young."
Yuan Bingyan gasped, immediately realizing she had asked an inappropriate question: "I'm sorry, I don't know."
"It's alright, it's all in the past," Luo Fei said calmly. "I grew up in an orphanage and always dreamed of becoming a policeman like my parents. Now that dream has come true, I think they will be gratified."
Yuan Bingyan was silent for a moment, then said softly, "I didn't expect you to have such an experience, Captain Luo."
Luo Fei smiled and changed the subject: "Everyone has their own story; what matters is the present and the future."
Yuan Bingyan nodded, then asked curiously, "Captain Luo, you got promoted so quickly, is there some secret to it? I heard you've only been a police officer for a little over half a year and you're already the criminal investigation captain."
Luo Fei said modestly, "I guess I was lucky. But I have indeed solved quite a few cases in the past six months, so my superiors probably think I'm quite capable."
"Was it just good luck?" Yuan Bingyan was skeptical. "I heard you received a first-class merit award? Is that true?"
Luo Fei nodded: "Yes, three times."
"Three First-Class Merits?" Yuan Bingyan's eyes widened in surprise. "Can I see the medal and certificate? I've never seen a First-Class Merit medal before."
Luo Fei pointed to the back seat: "They're all in the glove compartments, take a look for yourself."
Curious, Yuan Bingyan turned around and opened the back seat storage compartment, only to be stunned by what she saw. The compartment was piled high with red certificates and gold medals, the sheer number of which left her speechless.
She carefully took out several certificates and flipped through them, her voice trembling slightly: "Five third-class merits, three second-class merits, three first-class merits, and so many awards and commendations, Captain Luo, how many cases have you solved in the past six months?"
Luo Fei answered while driving, "I haven't counted them carefully. But there's usually some reward for solving a case. I solved a case and got a medal when I was on exchange in Chengdu."
Looking at the heavy medal in her hand, Yuan Bingyan said sincerely, "It's amazing! My dad always shows off his medals. If he saw these, he would definitely be speechless." As she spoke, she couldn't help but take out her phone and take a picture.
Luo Fei glanced at her in the rearview mirror and joked, "What, planning to go home and brag?"
Yuan Bingyan smiled sheepishly: "I'm going home to put my dad's arrogance to rest. He always says that our generation can't endure hardship as well as his generation, so I want to show him what a real hero is."
Luo Fei shook his head: "Don't say that. Police officers in every era have their own duties and challenges. Your father's generation also had a tough time."
Yuan Bingyan looked at Luo Fei with eyes full of admiration: "Captain Luo, you are too modest. I knew so little about you before."
Luo Fei noticed her gaze and said half-jokingly, "Don't look at me like that. I have a girlfriend."
Yuan Bingyan disagreed: "You're not married, so it's not a real family."
Luo Fei paused for a moment, realizing that Yuan Bingyan might have feelings for him, so he cleverly changed the subject: "Speaking of which, what is your relationship with Yifan? You two seem to know each other quite well."
Yuan Bingyan explained, "Yifan's father is my father's superior. We grew up together, so you could say we're childhood sweethearts."
Luo Fei pondered, "So Yifan is pursuing you?"
Yuan Bingyan shook her head: "He might have had that feeling before, but now he has someone he likes. However, he repeatedly told me not to tell anyone about this, so please don't say that I told you."
Luo Fei smiled: "I see. Do you need me to help make the connection? I'm quite familiar with Yifan."
Yuan Bingyan smiled mysteriously: "I will pass on your words to Yifan."
Luo Fei said earnestly, "It's hard to say about matters of the heart. If you meet a girl you like, you should boldly pursue her. Yifan is a good person, and I hope he can be happy."
Yuan Bingyan looked out the window and said softly, "Yes, love is hard to come by, so we should cherish it."
They arrived at an office building in the South Bay area. The two took the elevator upstairs and found the security company run by Yin Liluo and Zhou Lijuan.
After learning their purpose, the receptionist led them to Boss Yin's office. Yin Liluo was a middle-aged man in his forties, with a robust build and a very capable appearance. He seemed somewhat surprised to see the two national security officers.
"Boss Yin, we are from the Special Case Team of the National Security Bureau." Luo Fei showed his credentials. "We'd like to learn some information."
Yin Liluo invited the two to sit down, her expression cautious: "National Security Bureau? I wonder how I can help you two?"
Luo Fei got straight to the point: "We want to know about the Elite Sanda Fighting Club that you used to run."
Yin Liluo's expression relaxed a bit: "Oh, that club. It's been closed for several years now, why are you suddenly asking about it?" "We're investigating a case that might be related to your old club," Yuan Bingyan explained.
Yin Liluo sighed: "That club used to be very well run, with many students. Unfortunately, it kept encountering various inspections and difficulties, and eventually had to close down."
Luo Fei astutely picked up on the key phrase: "Various inspections and obstruction? Could you elaborate?"
"It's just that various departments, such as fire protection, health, and industry and commerce, come to inspect one after another, and they can always find something wrong with it." Yin Lilu shook her head. "One rectification notice after another, and in the end, we really couldn't continue operating."
"I heard that most of your students are the children of officials and wealthy businessmen?" Luo Fei continued to ask.
Yin Liluo nodded: "This is all thanks to Vice Mayor Xiao's son, Xiao Dingkun. He was practicing here, and other officials and wealthy businessmen followed suit and sent their children over as well."
Luo Fei and Yuan Bingyan exchanged a glance and continued to ask, "Do you still remember Xu Ziming, Zhou Yihang, Zhao Tianyu, and Xue Yuankai?"
Yin Lilu thought for a moment and said, "I remember, they are all club members, and they all have a good relationship with Xiao Dingkun. They often train together."
"Did anything unusual happen to these kids while they were at the club? Like bullying other students or something?" Yuan Bingyan asked.
Yin Liluo immediately shook her head: "Absolutely not. I am very strict in my management and do not allow conflicts between students. Although these children come from well-off families, they are all very well-behaved in the club."
Luo Fei secretly used his mind-reading ability to confirm that Yin Li was not lying. He continued, "After the club closed, did these students still keep in touch?"
“I don’t know about that,” Yin Liluo said. “After the club closed, I focused on running the security company and rarely contacted those trainees anymore.”
After the conversation, Yin Liluo said that if she remembered any useful information, she would contact them immediately.
Leaving the security company, Yuan Bingyan couldn't help but exclaim, "Captain Luo, your reasoning ability is really strong. You found the key clue right away."
Luo Fei frowned: "But now the clues seem to have gone cold again. Yin Liluo wasn't lying; his club was indeed closed due to various inspections."
He took out his phone and pulled up Xiao Dingkun's photo to examine it closely. The photo showed Xiao Dingkun's head displaying information about gambling and prostitution, but no other illegal activities.
"Strange. If Xiao Dingkun is related to the disappearance case, there should be more serious information revealed." Luo Fei said thoughtfully.
Yuan Bingyan leaned closer for a look: "Could it be that we're going the wrong way?"
Luo Fei shook his head: "Not necessarily. Xiao Dingkun may not be directly involved in the case, but he may be a key clue. After all, those children gathered together because of him."
The two decided to visit the former site of the Elite Sanda Fighting Club, which Yin Liluo used to run. According to the information, the club was originally located in Global Plaza.
When they arrived at Global Plaza, they found it had been transformed into a hot pot restaurant. The sign at the entrance prominently displayed the four characters "Master of Spicy Food".
Luo Fei checked the time; it was already past noon. "Since we're here, let's have lunch here. We can also ask the owner if he knows anything about the club's previous situation."
Yuan Bingyan nodded in agreement: "Okay, I am indeed a little hungry."
Luo Fei and Yuan Bingyan had just sat down at the hot pot restaurant and were about to order when Luo Fei's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID; it was Chen Xuanran calling.
"Hello, Xuanran," Luo Fei answered the phone.
"Where are you? I'm at your office, but no one's here?" Chen Xuanran's voice came from the other end of the phone.
Luo Fei explained, "I'm out investigating a case and I'm having a meal."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then Chen Xuanran asked suspiciously, "Are you really eating? With whom?"
Just then, Yuan Bingyan accidentally choked on the chili pepper and couldn't help but cough.
Chen Xuanran, on the other end of the phone, immediately heard the voice and his tone turned cold: "I heard a woman coughing. Luo Fei, are you with Yuan Bingyan?"
Luo Fei tried to cover it up: "It's just a colleague; we're investigating a case."
"Alright, no need to explain anymore," Chen Xuanran interrupted him. "I'll deal with you when we get home tonight." He then hung up the phone.
Seeing Luo Fei's embarrassed expression, Yuan Bingyan couldn't help but tease him, "Captain Luo, it seems you've gotten yourself into trouble for lying."
Luo Fei shook his head helplessly: "It's alright, let's eat first. Investigating the case is the priority."
After the two finished their hotpot meal, Luo Fei noticed a large dance training center next door. He thought for a moment and said to Yuan Bingyan, "Let's go next door and ask about it."
They entered the dance training center, where a young woman at the front desk greeted them warmly: "Welcome! Are you looking to inquire about dance courses?"
Luo Fei showed his credentials: "We are from the National Security Bureau and would like to know some information."
The receptionist seemed a little nervous and quickly called over an older employee. This employee, who introduced herself as Sister Zeng, had worked there for many years.
“Our training center has been open for thirteen years,” Sister Zeng said. “There used to be a martial arts school next door, but it suddenly closed down in 2012.”
Luo Fei pressed further, "Do you remember that martial arts school? Did anything unusual happen there? For example, were there any conflicts between the children from that school and your students here?"
Sister Zeng thought for a while and shook her head: "There's nothing special about it. The kids at the martial arts school and our students basically don't interact much, let alone have any conflicts."
Luo Fei and Yuan Bingyan asked several more employees, but the answers were all similar, and they didn't get any useful information.
After leaving the dance training center, Yuan Bingyan suddenly realized something: "Captain Luo, are you suspecting that those missing children bullied students from the dance center next door back then? And that those students came back to take revenge after growing up?"
Luo Fei nodded: "That's a reasonable speculation. If that's the case, then there was likely a serious bullying incident back then, which might even have led to a criminal case or suicide."
He continued solemnly, "We must find out the truth about this as soon as possible. If a teenager has indeed committed suicide or suffered serious harm because of bullying, their family has every motive to retaliate." (End of Chapter)
